Wedding planning

It was time for them to start their wedding planning. It was March, they wanted to be husband and wife by the end of the year. They needed to also take into consideration that their family must have enough notice to drop everything to come support them. They also had decisions to make like maid of honour, best man, officiate, etc. Daisy flipped through wedding dress magazines sipping on her coffee, made by Daniel exactly how she liked it. She had plans with Jemma today, planning on asking her to be maid of honor and her daughters to be flower girls. Jemma was the closest thing she ever had to family, it was too perfect not to have her be the maid of honor.

Daniel walks over to Daisy from the back and plants a small kiss on her head, “You ready for Jemma to freak when you ask her later?”

Daisy smiles at both the head kiss and that question, “A little afraid but hey, gotta do this again with Yo-Yo and Mack soon enough.” She pauses, turning her head to look at him, “And you have to ask Fitz soon.”

He nods, “I might just call and ask him. Our friendship is far from being like yours and Simmons.”

Daisy chuckles as the doorbell rings. There she was, along with two of Daisy’s favourite people, her nieces.

Daisy runs over to open the door and is greeted by a 6 year old, Alya and a 2 year old, Iris. She bends down to their level and wraps them in a hug, “I’ve missed you both so much!”

The girls giggle and hug their aunt back. Jemma smiling at the scene in front of her, “Where’s my hug?”

Daisy gets up from off the floor and pulls her into a long, tight, hug, “You know how much I have missed you Jemma.”

The two women share a moment and they walk into Daisy’s living room, Jemma spots the hundreds of wedding magazines and giggles. They take a seat and the girls climb to sit on Daisy’s lap.

Alya leans into Daisy as Iris sits on Daisy’s other side. The two sit in silence as Daisy rubs their backs and sings them a song. Jemma watches in awe.

“You’ll be an amazing mom one day. If that’s want you guys want.” Jemma states.

Daisy smiles, “I want that. We haven’t really talked about it though, either way, he is what I want more than any potential baby.”

Jemma chuckles, “What you guys have is special. I really am so happy for you.”

The two sit in silence until Daniel comes back from the upstairs, “Baby! Can you grab me that thing I had for Jemma?” Daisy asks, not wanting to get up herself in fear of disturbing the girls.
Daniel smiles, heads back upstairs to grab the box. He hands it to Daisy and gives Jemma a warm smile.

Daisy hands her the box, “I really hope you don’t freak out as much as I think you will.”

Jemma opens it to find a small note, she reads it out loud, “Will you be my maid of honor?”

She squeals and gives Daisy a tight hug, trying not to hurt her kids who had fallen asleep, “Of course I’ll be your maid of honor! Oh my god!”

Daisy smiles, “I’m glad. I wouldn’t want anyone else but you.”

The two share a moment of silence until Sousa walks in and takes a seat next to Daisy, “Hi honey, I heard that you asked her?”

Daisy giggles, “Yeah, she said yes as I thought.”

Jemma looks to Sousa, she has never been happier for anyone more than them after everything they had been through that she has witnessed. Sousa didn’t notice Jemma staring, all he could focus on was Daisy and how it was a dream to see her with kids. How lucky he’d be if that was their kids someday.

“Don’t look at me like that, Daniel,” Daisy teased, breaking his train of thought. Her voice was soft, almost playful, but with a hint of curiosity. She caught the look on his face, the way he was watching her, and raised an eyebrow. “You okay?”

He blinked, clearing his throat. “Yeah. Just... just thinking,” he said, turning his gaze back to her. “You with the kids... it’s... it’s something special.”

Daisy’s lips curled into a smile, her eyes twinkling with amusement and affection. “You like it?”

“More than I can say,” he replied, his voice quiet. He hesitated for a moment, then added, “I like the idea of kids... with us.”

Daisy’s heart skipped a beat at his words. She glanced over at Jemma, who was trying and failing to discreetly wipe away a happy tear, before looking back at Sousa. “Us, huh? Parents?” she asked softly, her voice teasing but with a layer of sincerity beneath it. “That’s a nice thought.”

Sousa chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “You know what I mean. I—I guess what I’m trying to say is... I’m excited. For everything. For us, for the wedding, for... whatever comes after.”

Daisy’s expression softened, her smile growing. She reached out and gently placed her hand over his, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “I’m excited, too. More than you know.”

Jemma, who had been watching the exchange, couldn’t help herself from grinning. “You two are something else,” she teased, trying to lighten the mood. “But I’m not going to cry about it too much. This is a happy moment. My best friend is getting married!”

Alya, still half asleep, mumbled something unintelligible and snuggled deeper into Daisy’s side. Iris, with her thumb in her mouth, blinked up at Jemma, as if sensing the excitement in the room. “Aunt Daisy... pretty,” she mumbled, her words slurring in haze.

Daisy chuckled, brushing a lock of hair from Iris’s face. “You think I’m pretty, sweetheart?”

“Pretty,” Iris confirmed, her little eyes fluttering closed again.

Jemma smiled at the sight, “She’s not wrong, you know. You are pretty, and... this,” she gestured to the room, to the kids, to the life Daisy and Sousa were building, “This is what you deserve. All of it. You two make sense.”

Daisy felt a lump form in her throat. “I didn’t think I would get this,” she admitted, her voice soft but steady. “This... love, this life. It feels... unreal. Sometimes, I still can’t believe it’s happening.”

Sousa’s hand tightened around hers, his thumb tracing soothing circles on her skin. “You deserve it more than anyone. Don’t ever doubt that.”

Jemma’s eyes flicked between them, a small smile on her face. She couldn’t be happier for Daisy, for both of them, after everything they had gone through to get here. They had been through so much, and now, they were building something beautiful, something real.

“Speaking of getting things done,” Jemma said, her voice shifting back to practicality, “Have you thought about the venue? Or the guest list? We should get ahead of this wedding planning before we all get swamped.”

Daisy groaned dramatically, rolling her eyes. “You know I’ve been avoiding that. But okay, okay, I’ll tackle it. We need to nail down the big stuff soon.” She hesitated before adding, “Maybe I should just get a big marker and start crossing things off a list.”

Jemma laughed, standing up and brushing off her jeans. “That’s the spirit. But, before you go tackling all that, you still have one very important person to ask about being the best man. I’m assuming Sousa is gonna ask Fitz?”

Sousa chuckled. “I think Daisy might be the one more nervous about that than I am actually.”

“Well, you two can figure that out later. We have a wedding to plan,” Jemma said, looking down at the girls. “But in the meantime, let’s make sure these little flower girls are ready for the big day.”

The room filled with a lighthearted energy as they began chatting about wedding plans, the future, and the joy of what was to come. For the first time in a long time, Daisy let herself believe in the promise of forever—because for all the battles they’d faced, this felt like the one victory that mattered the most. And it was only just beginning.

A few weeks later, Daisy stood in the middle of the grand ballroom, her eyes scanning the high vaulted ceilings and the crystal chandeliers that twinkled above her. She had never imagined her wedding to be so… extravagant. This was the first venue they were visiting, a historic building located right in the heart of the city, and it was overwhelming.

Jemma was beside her, holding a clipboard and flipping through the venue details. "This is gorgeous, Daisy," she said, eyes wide with admiration. "You could have a fairy tale wedding here. Imagine walking down that aisle with the stained-glass windows in the background. It’s like something straight out of a dream."

Daisy bit her lip, her brow furrowing in thought. "It is beautiful… but I don’t know, Jemma. I just don’t feel like me here. It’s so... fancy." She paused, glancing toward a window that showed a view of the city skyline. “Maybe something more simple would be better. Something less... extravagant.”

Jemma smiled warmly, reading Daisy’s face. “Well, it’s your day. You need to feel like yourself. Let’s keep this one on the list, but I think you’re leaning toward something more personal, aren’t you?”

Daisy nodded. “Yeah. Maybe a garden, or even somewhere with a view of the ocean. Somewhere that feels more like… us. I don’t know. I just want it to be perfect.”

As they toured the rest of the venue, the staff guided them through the space, describing potential setups. But Daisy’s heart wasn’t in it. She tried to imagine herself exchanging vows here, but all she could picture was the peaceful, quiet atmosphere of a simpler venue—a place that felt like home.

Daisy and Jemma visited a few more places—a rustic barn in the countryside, a beautiful garden, and even a vineyard—but nothing felt quite right. Daisy was growing more anxious by the day. With the wedding getting closer, she was beginning to wonder if they would ever find the right spot.

It wasn’t until they visited a small, hidden venue that Daisy felt something shift.

The venue was tucked away on the outskirts of town, near a peaceful stretch of the beach. The building itself was modest—an old, weathered structure that looked like it had seen better days—but it had an undeniable charm. The entrance had towering oak trees, their branches twisting together to form an almost magical canopy overhead. The soft sound of the waves crashing in the distance made everything feel more relaxed.

Daisy stepped inside, and immediately, she felt at ease. The space wasn’t grand, but it was intimate. The walls were made of wood, and the soft light filtering through the windows created a warm, inviting glow. There was an open space near the back that led straight out to a stunning view of the ocean.

Jemma was right beside her, her eyes scanning the room with an approving smile. “This is different,” she said quietly. “But I see it. I can feel it. This is... you.”

Daisy felt her breath catch in her throat. She hadn’t realized how much she was searching for that sense of belonging. Something that felt like home. As she looked out the window at the ocean stretching to the horizon, she knew, deep down, that this was it.

“This is it,” Daisy said softly, her voice almost reverent.

Jemma smiled, her eyes gleaming with happiness. “I think you just found your venue.”

A few days later, after they’d returned to check the venue one more time, Daisy sat down with Daniel to make the final decision. They were having a quiet dinner at home, the sound of their voices filling the comfortable silence that had settled over them.

“So, what do you think?” Daisy asked, nervously watching him over her wine glass.

Daniel set his fork down and leaned back in his chair, giving her a thoughtful look. “I think it’s perfect. I mean, I get why you’ve been looking for something bigger, something grander. But what you’ve always wanted, Daisy, is something real. Something that feels right, not just for the wedding, but for you. I love that you found this place.”

She smiled, feeling relief wash over her. “I knew you’d get it.”

“You’ve always known what you want,” Daniel said, his voice soft. “This is the place where we’ll make our vows. Maybe even come back to someday with our kids and grandkids. It’s perfect.”

The two of them shared a quiet, knowing look. There was no need for words to express how much this moment meant to them. The planning chaos would continue, but this—finding the perfect venue—was a major step forward.

When Daisy shared the news with the team, the excitement was palpable. Mack and Yo-Yo immediately started asking about details. "When's the big day?" Mack asked, grinning like the proud older brother he was.

Daisy couldn’t help but laugh at their enthusiasm. "We’ve got the venue. It's set for late November, so that gives us time to prepare. But I can already tell I'm going to need all your help," she said, glancing over at Yo-Yo.

Yo-Yo, ever the supportive friend, raised an eyebrow. "Oh, I think we can handle it. What’s next on the list?"

“Next? Now comes the hard part,” Daisy said with a mock groan. "The dress, the guest list, the food—oh, and I still have to figure out who will officiate."

Yo-Yo grinned. “Well, we already know I’m handling the dress and helping you with the flowers. As for officiating… you sure you don’t want Mack to step in?”

Daisy laughed and then actually deeply thought about, "Would you, Mack? I can’t imagine anyone else doing that but you.”

“Of course Tremors. It would be an honor. Can’t wait for the wedding to come together,” Mack said, his grin wide as he slapped Daniel on the back. “You guys are gonna make one hell of a team.”

A week later, Daisy and Daniel made it official. They signed the contracts for the venue, locking in the date: November 25th. As they left the venue together, holding hands and looking out over the ocean, Daisy couldn’t help but feel the weight of everything she was about to embark on. There was still a lot to do, but for the first time, she felt truly at peace.

“This place feels like it was made for us,” Daisy said, glancing at Daniel with a smile. “It feels like the start of something new. And with you... I know it’s going to be perfect.”
Daniel squeezed her hand gently. “As long as you’re happy, it’s already perfect.” He paused for a moment, watching the waves crash against the shore. “I think our adventure is just beginning.”

Daisy smiled softly, watching the ocean stretch out before them. "Yeah... I think you're right."

With the venue secured, the wedding planning began in full force. Jemma helped Daisy pick out a dress that felt both elegant and comfortable, fitting the vibe of the beachside venue. Mack and Yo-Yo handled the guest list and transportation logistics, while Fitz, always ready for an excuse to go above and beyond, designed a series of small, custom decorations that would bring the wedding to life.

The closer they got to the big day, the more Daisy’s excitement grew. She was getting married to the love of her life, surrounded by the people who had stood by her through everything. It was perfect. And she knew that whatever came next, she was ready.
