Time to Lawyer Up
Sometimes when you jump, you jump off a sidewalk curb in London and end up hurtling through the sky above Hell's Kitchen. Now usually this wouldn't-well no, this is absolutely a problem. Because you were supposed to hop off the curb in front of John Constantine's apartment and end up on the street outside of UNIT headquarters. Unfortunately, you can't always control your jumps, but at least you always know where you end up jumping too. That's how you know that you are going to splat onto the roof of Nelson & Murdock, Attorneys at Law. Unless you can remember what Constantine just taught you. Angling your hands towards the approaching rooftop, you start to chant in furious Latin. As you slow your descent, you mentally praise God (or whatever divine being rules this realm) and land on the roof with a mere thud as opposed to a sickening splat.
Dazed as you are, you still hear approaching footsteps and a door opening.
"Oh my god!" A female voice, Karen you presume, shouts.
"Jesus, where the hell did you come from?" Foggy asks as he approaches.
"The sky," you answer helpfully as you open your eyes fully.
You look at the only person who hasn't spoken. Matthew Murdock is studying you closely, and you think you know why.
See, inter-dimensional travel causes a lingering effect that can't be picked up by normal human senses. But, you think to yourself, perhaps someone with heightened senses could possibly be able to pick up on the residue of your previous location. He wouldn't know that's what he was picking up on though. Sighing, you go through your whole spiel.
"Good afternoon. I am an inter-dimensional traveler. Yes, you heard me right, I travel through the dimensions of the multiverses making friends and foes where ever I go. Did I choose this? Not really. Did I choose to come here? Absolutely not. However, here I am. Do I have a name? Yes. Will I give it to you? Probably not. For now, you may call me the Interloper until I inevitably leave this place in search of my actual destination." You stand up.
"Now, could someone get me some water? Falling through the sky really does a number on the moistness in one's mouth."
---
You sip on your water in between questions from the three. The questions mostly pertain to you, such as "Are you alright?", "Do you need an ambulance?" and "Is there anyone we can call?".
"Yes. Maybe. No. I'm not from this place, and there is no one like me in this place. There is no one like me in any place. I don't know why I am the way I am or why I can do the things I do," you took another sip of water. "Any other questions?"
"You said 'dimensions of the multiverses' earlier," Matt stated. "What does that mean?"
"Ah, my favorite question," you say with a genuine smile. "Imagine an infinite bag of marbles. Each marble contains a multiverse-an infinite amount of worlds that are each slightly to the left of each other. Now imagine that the marbles can see each other. This is where the tricky part comes in. Your marble, which is completely real to you, isn't real in another marble. It's a bunch of made up stories. The best example I can give pertains to you." you lean forward towards your audience of three.
"Your world is a series of comic books and TV shows in another marble."
Leaning back, you let that sink in. Foggy is the first to speak after a few moments of silence.
"So...we're not real?"
"You guys are real," you assure, "in this marble. In another you're ink on paper. I know it's a lot to take in. It always is."
"Why are you telling us this?" Karen asks.
You shrug, and only Matt feels you glance at him. "You guys are important."
"Why?" The man in the red glasses asks.
"I can't tell you. I mean I can, but I shouldn't. Making you aware of the multiverse of multiverses is as involved in your story as I can get without causing irreparable damage to said multiverse. I'm just a background character in your story. I can't influence how it plays out."
Putting your glass of water down, you stand up and stretch. "Oh that feels better. Man, advanced healing factor was such a good bargain."
"Bargain?" Foggy quirks a brow.
"With a demon. Long story. I'll tell you the next time I see you."
"The next time-are you leaving?"
"Yup!" you walk towards a window and open it, "I've got an appointment with the Doctor I shouldn't miss."
Turning back to the three, you grin. "Hey, it's only goodbye for now."
And with that you jump out of the window and into the next dimension.
