There I was, sitting at one of the pubs in Asgard. I watched as Volstagg gulped his food, usual thing for him. Everyone around the table was talking, but I didn't listen, my thoughts were preoccupied with him. No matter where I went or what I did, he was always on my mind. The prince of Asgard. I'm not sure if he even acknowledged my existence, after all, he didn't speak to people that much. I've never seen him speak to anyone else than Thor.
I was soon snapped out of my thoughts when someone called out my name. "Fandral?" It was Volstagg. I immediately looked up at Volstagg and smiled, acting like I just didn't zone out again. "Yes?" I replied, before everyone at the table began laughing. Sif crossed her arms. "You're always with some girl, where is she now? Did your new maiden dissapear?" I felt my cheeks heat up in embarrassment. Did they really think that lowly of me? Everyone just had to assume that I was with a different woman every day. Great, I'm becoming a laughing stack for everyone else. Even Hogun is laughing at me, which is unusual, he mostly stays quiet. "I just didn't find a pretty one, that's all." It's definitely a stupid excuse, but it'll suffice for now. I mean, why would I care about finding another maiden, when my eyes are set for only one person? I saw Thor talking to the waitress, he was ordering more beer for everyone, but the waitress seemed more interested in Thor than the order. I scoffed quietly, only to be lightly shoved by Volstagg. He was smirking, he clearly thought that I liked the waitress. I chose to ignore Volstagg and wait patiently until everyone got drunk.
It took another three hours for Thor to get intoxicated, the others were drunk earlier due to Thor being a bit more immune to alcohol. I could finally sneak out, which is exactly what I did. The cold air outside felt refreshing against my skin, I could finally breathe. I walked down the streets of Asgard before I got to the royal gardens, I used the back exit to get inside of the palace. The east wing of the palace was meant for the warriors, but I decided to go through the west wing. If luck would be on my side, I'd be able to see Loki. I sighed and started walking through the west wing, hoping to see him there.
After a while, I stopped and went to the palace balcony. Asgard was beautiful at night, it sometimes felt like I truly didn't belong here. I leaned against the railing, only to hear a voice behind me. I got excited for a moment, thinking that Loki was there, but it was Thor and his drunk self was mumbling something. I was too tired to deal with all of this, so I decided to go back to the east wing and my chambers.
