Chapter 14
Ra’s al Ghul’s Lair – Secret Chamber
Talia sat alone, gazing at the depths of the Lazarus Pit, the swirling waters reflecting her pale face. Her fingers traced the edge of the stone basin, her mind racing with thoughts of Peter — the son she had broken and remade.
She whispered to the Pit.
“You took him from me, but you will not take my love for him. I will keep him. Forever.”
But even as the words left her lips, she knew they were hollow.
Her love had destroyed him. It had left him a shell — a ghost.
Talia closed her eyes, the weight of her own grief threatening to consume her.
And in the quiet of the chamber, a voice she didn’t expect whispered back.
“You never should have brought him back, Talia. Not this way.”
Ra’s’ voice. Cold, judgmental, and final.
Talia’s eyes snapped open. She knew then that the true cost of her actions would never be paid. The Lazarus Pit had taken her son. And nothing could ever bring him back again.
