Chapter 1

Daniel was sore. Had been for a while now. Didn’t matter if it was a dull ache around where skin met prosthetic, or if it was the occasional bedridden type, it never left him. But, he had the breathe through it mentality, so of course he kept it to himself.

Today wasn’t the worst pain he’d felt, matter of fact he felt quite good today, but that didn’t stop it from bothering him. He’d managed to get through a decent amount of his paperwork, and the rest of the office’s, managed to avoid bending his knees somehow, and also managed to talk his way out of going out and getting everyone’s lunch, so quite successful. Until Jack came into the office. He and Jack had a… thing together. He wasn’t like dating Jack, but they had their moments.

Jack nodded at him and gave him a bit of a strange look, was it pity? Was Jack trying to read him? He shook his head and looked back down at a fellow agents report, a majority of it was spelt horribly wrong, seriously how can someone spell ‘bullet’ wrong? He corrected it and shifted a little, he’s been sat in this chair all day. Maybe he’d stretch his legs later, as long as he’s not crouching or any shit like that, ooh! or maybe go speak to Jack? Professionally of course!

He was so distracted he didn’t even notice Jack leaning on the side of his desk until he heard a,

“Sousa,”

He jumped in his seat almost knocking over the crutch that leant against it, and put a hand on his heart. He looked up at you, his curious brown eyes meeting Jack’s lighter ones.

“those reports almost finished?”

“Jeez Jack you gotta tell me before you sneak up on me like that—“

“Thompson here.”

Jack hastily reminded him as he carefully looked around the room to see if anybody heard that.

“Ah, right, Thompson. I’ll just need a few, don’t want to send these away with spelling errors heh?”

Jack just looked at him with a straight face and started walking over to his office.

“Just hurry up, okay?”

“On it.”
