Always
A: Always
Regina would have never thought in a million years that she would have said these words that were about to come out of her mouth. But things have changed- sort of changed. Yes, Regina is still the Mayor of Storybrooke and Emma was still the Sheriff of said small town. And they both were co-parting Henry and he was thriving. He was doing great in school and was making lots of friends and his friends' mothers were starting to ease up about Regina being one of his mothers. Most of the town were not really scared of her (for the most part anyways), there were still those few that would not even look at her. But Regina was not worried about that, she had people around her that loved and cared for her. They both loved Henry very much.
Emma and her were friends, best friends but things had changed about six months ago. They had finally come clean about how they felt for each other, after having few glasses of wine. When they kissed it was fireworks and every time they were in the same room they could both feel the heat between them. They had not told anyone yet, not even Henry. They were worried about that part, felt bad about lying, but they were scared about what his reaction would be, on one hand he could be really happy and he would finally get his family together in one house or he could get really angry and not talk to either of them or most likely Regina because he would think she was up to something. Not that he said those kinds of things any more, they were in a good place and Regina was scared that telling him was going to change that.
But then Peter Pan happened and they were being sent back to the Enchanted Forest and Regina had to give up the thing she loved the most or more like the things she loved the most. Not that they had said those words to each other yet and now they were never going to get the chance. Maybe it was time Regina took the plunge and said them first.
So here they were standing at the edge of town as the green and purple cloud threatened to take them back to their home land. Henry was standing between his mothers, he didn’t want to leave the town he grew up in and the mother that raised him for most of his life. But it seemed he didn’t have a choice in the matter. He was leaving town with Emma and they were not going to remember anything. Their family or friends. Regina turns to face Henry, who was looking at the ground with a pout on his face, Regina gives him a small smile and pulls him into a hug. Henry lets it happen, he takes a deep breath trying to remember her smell. He wondered if in this new life when he smelled her scent would he know what it would mean? Or would he just wonder why it was so familiar? Regina hugs him closer to her when he starts to shake and tears stream down his face.
“Oh Henry, my little Prince. I will always love you and always think of you. You will always be my little Prince no matter where we are and even if we are not in the same place. And I know Emma will take good care of you, or she better or she will have me to deal with when we get back here. And we will get back, have faith my little Prince we will see each other again.” Regina pulls back and kisses his forehead. Henry hugs her one more time before walking over to his grandparents, they pull him into a three way hug.
Regina turns towards the blonde, Emma has tears in her eyes. But she will not let them fall, not in front of the others.
“Regina?” Emma chokes out. Regina starts to tear up, she walks closer to her. Without even a thought Emma pulls her into a tight hug. Regina is shocked at first but hugs her back, she doesn’t want to leave them. Things were great between them. Emma pulls back first and surprises her again by pulling her into a deep heated kiss that takes her breath away. Regina has to pull away when she can't breathe. Both try to get their breathing under control, they both are not worried about the others around them, neither of them realize that everyone is looking at them. Some in aww others in hatred others even in surprise. But no one says anything, they are all worried about what is about to happen to them.
“Emma…..I…”
“’What Regina?” Regina takes a deep breath, looks right into her eyes and says the word she never thought she would say again after Daniel.
“Emma…I love you” She whispers, she doesn’t want anyone else to hear what they were saying. Emma is shocked. Emma thought she would have been the one to say I first, not Regina. Emma smiles, a huge smile that brightens her whole face. Regina loves it when the blonde smiles like that, she looks even more beautiful.
“Regina…..I….love you too.” Regina’s face lights up for a second before dropping. Regina looks away when the thunder gets louder.
“Emma, it's time…” Regina squeezes her hand before backing away and letting their hands fall between them. Henry comes back over and hangs onto Regina. Regina kisses the top of his head before pulling away.
“It's time, you two need to leave before the cloud takes over.” Emma joins the hug, Henry squeezed between them.
“No” Both say, neither of them move away from Regina.
“ Emma….take Henry and go.” Regina tries to pull away, they hold her tighter.
“I will always love you…both of you.” Regina says, pulling away from them. As she says the last part she looks right into Emma’s eyes.
“Regina…” Emma says sadly, Regina shakes her head. They didn’t have time for all of this. The curse was about to hit them and Regina didn’t want Emma and Henry in town when it did. She had no idea what would happen to them.
“Go, remember what I said. We will find each other again.” Regina lightly pushes the two away from her and towards the bug. Emma and Henry open the doors but don’t get in right away; they stop and look back at their loved one. Regina nodes and mother and son get into the car and start to drive away.
“I will always love you.” Regina whispers into the air. Regina sighs, closes her eyes, pulls out the curse and rips it apart. Sending her magic up into the cloud that was about to take them back.
