Harry Potter Revisions
Harry Potter Alternate Universe, inspired by the scene in movie 3 when Harry spots Peter Pettigrew on the map.
Harry has always been paranoid and secretive, but the map is a horrible enabler. By the end of his third year, Harry knows more about his schoolmates than he suspects they would ever want him to. Of course, that's hardly his concern - he's had more than enough of suspicion and death threats, and the only thing that had ever protected him at the Dursleys was an expressionless face and a thorough understanding of his relatives' every tick and habit. Knowledge was power, indeed.
Slytherin Harry AU (very old)
Harry looked at them wearily and finally replied, "You know, the longer I'm here, the more I think it might have been better to have stayed at the Dursleys. To have never known magic was real."
His year mates gaped at him, and Harry felt the rest of the common room focusing in on the scene.
"How could you say that?"
Harry shrugged, "At least I was never disappointed - I always knew exactly where I stood with them. There can't be disappointment once you decide there's no hope, right?" He heard rustling at his back as the older Slytherins went still but didn't turn.
"We're only human after all. We can only withstand so much and hope is...a distraction, from survival. When you can afford it, maybe it's wonderful, but realistically - hope won't keep you sane, won't put food in your belly, won't keep you warm on the cold nights. It's just another luxury you aren't afforded as a second class citizen."
Family is Family
Vernon and Petunia (and Marge) die in a raid and Dudley ends up at Hogwarts with Harry as his guardian. I'm imagining a scene where Harry defends Dudley from other students with impressive reflexes/power and everybody's stunned by how fiercely he will defend his last living family member, even with their obvious history and Dudley's lack of magic.
Time Travel Twist
Harry travels back in time and James grows up with the best big brother ever.

Missing Moment
Neville had no idea how to explain his feelings after finding out that Professor Moody - the man who had comforted him, encouraged him, made him feel almost believed in for once... and the man who had made him watch a spider writhe under the cruciatus - was not Professor Moody. That he was a man called Bartemius Crouch Jr, a man Neville has only ever seen in old newspaper photographs, a name he had only heard out of his gran's mouth the one time she got truly drunk. He really didn't know how to feel and was just glad no one had asked him, not about this man who had squeezed his shoulder when he cried, and held his parents under an unforgivable curse until they... stopped. Stopped crying, stopped screaming, just... stopped.
