Outlined
Hello, as I promised, this is the outline for the rest of Life Isn’t Fair. For each chapter, I’ll give a summary of what was to happen, and I will also explain the key scene that inspired each chapter. I will also add a bit of clarification on chapter 5 because I read it back, and there are things that I feel need to be explained.
Okay, so first off, I just wanted to let you guys know that some chapters have scenes I had thought of as I planned the outline. I’ll make notes of things I would have changed if I continued the story, but other than that, it’ll just be bullet points of events that were to happen in the chapter.
"Jiraiya-sama sent a message to Suna explaining the situation; they should be a day or so ahead of us. They might have even made contact with the enemy by now. If we hurry, we can meet up with their team by morning."
Searching through what remained of Akatsuki's hideout was a tense affair. Asuma was trying to figure out what in the hell had happened and, most importantly, how come they hadn't sensed anything beforehand. It didn't make sense, based on the amount of time passed between Jiraiya sending the message and Tsunade-sama receiving it hadn't been more than a couple of hours.
Okay, so I would like to apologize I did not notice the inconsistency with the timeline for this chapter. As you can see in the two passages above, there is a clear ERROR in my timeline of events. So from the time that they were attacked to when they found the hideout, almost two days would have passed. Jiraya sent the scroll and the message to Suna a few minutes after he realized what happened. It took the team sent by lady tsunade around a day to get to Jiraya and half a day or so to meet up with the Suna team. So yes, the Suna team was ahead of them by a day because they did not try to find Jiraiya, while the Leaf team had to find Jiraiya and then decided who would go back with him so they lost time doing that. As for what Asuma said about it being hours, that’s my bad I meant to say that they should have felt the residue chakra due to the amount of destruction they found and because, you know, two jinchuurikies were present during the fight. He basically was just wondering why the fuck they hadn’t sensed something was off sooner.
SO chapter 6 took a life of its own, completely changing the story's flow. Well, not really, but there are some things that definitely changed. The main one is that while this story started with the idea of Sasuke and Naruto being the end game, after halfway through chapter 3, I sorta started to think otherwise. For one, Gaara's level of involvement in this fic quadrupled. He was supposed to show up twice, but that went out the window after chapter 3. Secondly, the leaf village spreading the rumor that Shikamaru and Naruto were star cross lovers and that Shikamaru was grieving his one true love was supposed to be a JOKE, but then my motherfucking brain said BUT WHAT IF ʕ≖‿≖ʔ. So yeah, in the end, I no longer knew if SasuNaru was still endgame. You guys can decide.
Also, Shika and Sakura were able to gather the strength to move on because both of them had promised Akira that they would bring her the heads of those that killed Naruto. They basically said, “You know what, maybe Sasuke has a point about letting revenge fuel you,” but without the whole betraying the village thing. Also, Sasuke was supposed to find out sooner in the chapter, but as I mentioned, it took a life of its own. There were also supposed to be more dream sequences of Sasuke and naruto through the years since his “death,” but they never made it into the chapter.
And as mentioned in the notes of chapter 6, team 8 isn’t really in the story. They are only mentioned. Asuma has a death wish because no one in their right mind will break into Kakashi’s apartment, but honestly, after what happened, Asuma and Kakashi bonded over it, and Kakashi was a lot of help to Shikamaru. Asuma took care of Sakura, so they make a pretty good team. Danzo is still in the picture, but as mentioned, lady Tsunade is playing 3D chess while he is playing chess.
CHAPTER 7
Intro to ARC TWO
//\\//\\//\\
The back story on the land of snow and spring
The Land of Snow and Spring, while it had for the most part been a rather peaceful country, corruption and greed had tinted its history with bloodshed.
The Kzahana royal family had been on the throne since the Land of Snow and Spring was founded. Following the family tradition, the oldest son would take on the title of daimyo. For years there had been no opposition to the tradition. It wasn’t until Doto Kazahana decided that his father had been a fool by letting his brother Soutetsu become the daimyo. Ever since they were young, Doto had shown signs of jealousy towards his brother due to his right to the tile daimyo.
Soutetsu Kazahana had the support of his father and the council; the moment Soutetsu was named daimyo, he proved himself worthy of the title. Doto, seeing his brother’s success, let his greed take over. For years he would plan his own brother’s downfall. In the shadows, Doto Kazahana would slowly field his brother’s home with assassins who were loyal to him and him alone.
On the night of Soutetsu's death, Doto also took no mercy in killing his wife. Koyuki Kazahana, who had been but a child, had been smuggled out of the Land of Spring by her father’s right-hand man. While the whole kingdom believed the whole family was dead, Doto knew of Koyuki’s survival and decided to close off the Land of Spring.
To solidify his reign, Doto performed a jutsu that cursed the Land of Spring to always be under snow leading to it later becoming known as the Land of Snow.
After twenty years, Koyuki Kazahana returned home to reclaim the throne that rightfully belonged to her. It would seem that while hiding, the Kazahana heiress not only changed her name to Yukie but also took on her mother’s last name Fujikaze.
Outsiders will never know the real story of Doto Kazahana’s downfall. The story they would hear would go as follows; Yukie Fujikaze would storm into the castle and dethrone her uncle in the same manner he once did her father.

“Our mission is to investigate the death of the previous daimyo.”
Sakura had only ever read about the Land of Snow in the history textbooks, and even then, not much was known about the Land of Snow. In fact, the rest of her teammates knew just as little as she did when it came to the Land of Snow. And had Team Kitsune been given this particular mission at any other time, she wouldn’t have had any issues dropping everything for the mission. But as it stood, they had just heard back from Jiraiya about a possible Akatsuki sighting near the Mist village. After having lost their chance at getting any source of information out of Orochimaru with Jiraya’s news, Shikamaru had all but dived head-first into strategizing their next move.
The young Nara had to be all but dragged to meet Lady Tsunade. Ino and Choji had the tough task of appeasing their teammates to avoid being punished with D-rank missions (again). Asuma and Kakashi had to point out that Orochimaru would, without a doubt, send Kabuto to the Land of Snow to gain information. That made Sakura and Shikamaru see the benefits of going on the mission. Of course, Shikamaru had all refused to agree unless Lady Tsunade sent Team 8 to confirm Jiraiya’s information.
- Team Kitsune meet the queen/daimyo(Yukie) and the prince(Kazuhiko) of the Land of Snow.
- TEAM TAKA has entered the chat (Sasuke leaves Orochimaru after finding out about Anruto’s death and is determined to kill every remaining member of the Akatsuki. Also, his desire to kill Itachi doubled cuz he has now also killed Naruto, so Sasuke is not very happy with his big brother. Also, Karin told Sasuke that around the time of Naruto’s death, both Kabuto and Orochimaru left the hideout in a hurry, and Kabuto came back to collect blood from her. Something he would do every week for a month straight. So Sasuke thinks that Orochimaru is in cahoots with the Akatsuki, and since Kabuto is going to the land of snow, that means it could lead them to Akasuki. Members are Karin, Jugo, and Suigetsu.)
- The Prince and his bodyguards (We get the tragic yet mysterious backstory of Prince Kazuhiko and his bodyguards, whom he calls his siblings.
- Sasuke and his team meet the prince (they break into the castle by accident because they thought they were still in the forest turns out that was the royal garden)
Chapter 7 was supposed to serve as a setup for the Land of Snow and an introduction to some new characters. Funny enough, I had intended to post chapters 6 and 7 at the same time since they marked the end of an arc and the beginning of another. But I never liked how rushed chapter 7 felt to me, so I ended up only writing the intro to the Land of Snow and a bit of the first ‘scene’ for the chapter.
CHAPTER 8
Kakashi talks to a very familiar face (kabuto) (Kakashi, while exploring, stumbles across Kabuto, and sneaks out of the castle, so he decides to have a conversation with him. Kabuto is the definition of gatekeep, girl boss, and gaslight. Kakashi needs a drink and for Shikamaru to use his brain to figure out what Kabuto was doing inside the castle.)- Sasuke has an encounter with the prince again (Prince Kazuhiko goes on his weekly visit to the market and runs into our Sad BoyTM, and they get to talking.)
- Sakura corners Sasuke (Sakura has some things to get off her chest, and Sasuke can’t do shit but listen)
- The prince and princess talk (Her Majesty Yukie and Prince Kazuhiko talk about team Kitsune and how they should be minding their own business. Kazuhiko likes talking to Shikamaru because he finds it funny that everything is troublesome. Yukie reminds him that he is already engaged to be wed come next Winter.)
- a party is held in order to kick start the celebration
- Obito/MADARA ATTACK (Yup, the remaining Akatsuki are here to finish the job, but with their attack, the identity of 1 of Kazuhiko’s bodyguards is revealed)
CHAPTER 9
- WHERE IS THE PRINCE ( in the middle of the panic, the prince gets lost and no one can find him. )
- Itachi and Sasuke (After finding out that one of the prince’s bodyguards was Itachi, Sasuke engages in a fight with him, but Itachi honestly could careless he’s trying to find Kazuhiko)
- In the aftermath of the attack and the discovery of Itachi (Shikamaru finds Prince Kazuhiko is found unconscious in his garden, and he brings him back to the castle so he can be checked over. Itachi, who is being protected by the rest of the prince’s bodyguards, is pushed to reveal everything.)
- Flashback to chapter 4 when they attack Naruto and Gaara (once they capture Naruto and Gaara, Itachi and Konan had a conversation with them, and let’s just say Naruto made some great points. They all agreed on one thing FUCK THE LEAF VILLAGE because, goddamn, all their tragic stories lead to the leaf village. Konan talks to Pain/Nagato, and they realized that there’s no such thing as a perfect world, so they start to see which members are loyal to them. Turns out that Deidara, Sasori, and Itachi are loyal to them. When come up with a plan to get Naruto and Gaara out of there. They had to make it seem as realistic as possible, so they did not tell Gaara or Naruto. While Konan and Nagato made sure they would be able to leave to a secure place, the rest were tasked with poisoning the remaining member so that they would be weakened for the fight and could be killed. Deidara created an explosion that make it seem as if that was the final attack that killed both Naruto and Gaara. Nagato did shop Naruto’s hand-off cuz it had to be believable.)
- The Kyubi tells his story (Kuruma takes over Kazuhiko/Naruto’s body to tell the side of his story. When Naruto came to after Nagato cut his hand off, he was underground, and Kabuto was there to help speed up everyone healing. Itachi and Nagato tell Naruto and Gaara that they can wipe their memories and seal the tail best and their chakra away so that they can start a new life. Gaara doesn’t take the deal he wants to remember, but Naruto agrees, so his memory is wiped, and a new identity has to be created. But because of the risk involved, Kabuto has to be there to take care of Naruto to make sure he doesn’t go into shock due to the way in which his chakra will be drained.)
- Kabuto tells his side of the story (Kabuto basically tells them that it was his idea to make Naruto pass as the crown prince Kazuhiko. He knew about Princess Yukie being the heir to the throne, so he found her to tell her everything her uncle did and helped her get her throne back. In exchange, she would then announce that her uncle had taken her little brother and kept him captive in a remote location all these years. That’s how Kazuhiko would be introduced to the people of the land of snow & spring.)
- The prince wakes up (Naruto/Kazuhiko wakes up, and he remembers everything )
CHAPTER 10
Sasuke and the prince talk again (Sasuke can’t believe everything that happened, but he also can’t ignore that Naruto is alive. And because he missed Naruto, he seeks him out to talk. Naruto/Kazuhiko doesn’t really know what to think about everything that happened, nor can he believe that Sasuke is actively trying to be around him.)- TEAM TAKA meddles (Suigetsu just wants Sasuke to kiss Naruto so he can tease him about kissing prince charming. They are also not willing to lose to team Kitsune, and they claim Shikamaru was giving Naruto heart eyes and clearly Sasuke did it first, so he needs to move out of the way)
- Kakashi and Sakura also talk to the prince (Kakashi and Sakura want to understand why Naruto decided to get his memory wiped and let them all think he was dead)
- kyubi reminds everyone that Obito is out there and a plan is hatched
- Sasuke and Itachi fight it out (Sasuke is always ready to through hands, and Itachi should have known better. They fight again….nobody dies)
- uchiha’s story (yup, their fights end with Itachi telling Sasuke the truth)
CHAPTER 11
- The prince dreams (Naruto keeps dreaming about what his life would have been like had this never happened. And it turns out he doesn’t like what he sees.)
- Gaara returns and helps Naruto figure some things out (Naruto doesn’t know if he is Naruto or Kazuhiko but has no fear for Gaara is back, and oh yeah, they are engaged too and supposed to get married next year. Gaara helps Naruto work out his identity crisis, and then they talk about their possible future together)
- Madara attacks again (Akarsuki showdown)
- The aftermath of the fight (Madara is killed, and Naruto wants to take a fucking nap)
CHAPTER 12
- Naruto faces team 7 (you know what Naruto woke up and choose violence
"YOU FUCKING LEFT SASUKE! What was I supposed to do? Everyone in the fucking village hated me all they cared about was YOU coming back not me. You could have killed me that day, and they wouldn't have cared. AND YOU TWO, my god, you two were supposed to be my family. "Naruto's voice cracked as he turned towards Kakashi and Sakura.'' We were supposed to be a family, but instead of standing by me, you left me to fend for myself. Sakura, you couldn't even talk to me without asking me if I would still bring Sasuke back to you. WHAT ABOUT ME, HUH? What about making sure I was okay? Did that not matter to you? And you, Kakashi, stood by as I came apart at the seams and did nothing. Why? Was I nothing more than a weapon in your eyes too?"
No matter how much Naruto tried to keep his voice steady, he still couldn't contain the sobs that escaped him at the end. Not wanting to be seen crying by his ex-teammates, Naruto covered his face with his hands. Yet his body shook with every sob that recked through his body.
"You all left me, so how did you expect me to want to keep living that life?"
So Team 7 put their foot in the mouth by accidentally making Natuto believe that he was selfish for deciding he would rather forget about everything than continue to live on as Naruto.
- Naruto and his bodyguards
"How is he?" Konan asked as she and Itachi entered the room.
Gaara, who was in bed with Naruto, didn't stop running his fingers through Naruto's hair as he spoke. "He cried himself to sleep."
"I take it that his conversation with his ex-teammates didn't go smoothly."
Gaara scoffed "It seems like they never stopped to think about anyone else but themselves, and even now, they're only trying to guilt trip Naruto into apologizing for hiding all these years."
Gaara and ex Akatsuki gang suddenly have a reason to fight Kakashi, Sakura and Sasuke. Ino, Choji, Shikamaru, and Asuma are scolding Kakashi and Sasura in the other room for making Naruto cry and for being fucking idiots. Team Taka is doing the same to Sasuke.
- Naruto questions where he belongs (poor baby is just soo confused; someone helps him)
- Itachi and Sasuke talk again (Itachi puts Sasuke in his place and tells him to get his shit together with Naruto or else. He might have also mentioned that Naruto is engaged to Gaara)
- Gaara and Naruto talk (Are they still engaged? Does Gaara even love Naruto? Are some of the things they talk about….they aren’t engaged anymore, but Naruto is willing to give Gaara a chance to win his heart)
- Naruto finds his place (turns out Shikamaru is pretty good at helping people solve their identity crisis…now if someone would help him figure out why his heart is beating so fast)
CHAPTER 13
- The coronation of the princess is had finally (Naruto states in the Land of Snow and Spring, officially crowned prince and heir to the throne)
- Naruto says goodbye to team Kitsune (Naruto sends them off with a smile on his face, and they leave with a handful of letters to deliver to very special people. Shikamaru is also scheming a way to come back to the land of snow & spring to see Naruto…it’s not fair that Gaara gets him all to himself, and he’s sure Sasuke will also try to stay so why can’t he also visit)
- Team Taka talk (Team Taka tells Sasuke that they found a place nearby and that if they asked Yukie for a job, she would hire them. Honestly, they just want to see Sasuke make a fool of himself while fighting Gaara and the rest of Naruto’s suitors for the heart of the prince.)
"Look, Sasuke, let's just get this over with. Obviously, you're staying here, and I don't blame you, man. Your Naruto is a good-looking fella. If it weren't for the fact that you would kill me, I would have tapped that. "
"If you don't shut up, I'll kill you."
- the end
So there you have it, the outline of the rest of the story. I would love to answer any of your questions, so feel free to comment on any questions you might have.
