Training in the Winds

The air was damp and fresh with the smell of ozone, it hadn’t been a particularly dry spring after all and the various small gardens, crop fields, and trees that hid the village flourished with the generosity of the season. Sakumo Hakate relished the way it filled his lungs as he worked through his more intense set of daily workouts. This set brought him further away from the humble grounds of the Hatake house where Jiraiya, his beloved, perverted, younger brother would spar. He ran through the unpopulated outer woods of the village border, the White Light chakra saber he’d recently had custom made at a local blacksmiths shop soaring through the air as he flew by targets and deflected the rigged kunai and shuriken along the path.

He had recently been promoted to Jonin by Lord Second, along with a few of the other first and second generation graduates of the academy such as Princess Tsunade and the rest of that unit. Lord Tobirama made many of them aware that soon they too would undertake training other graduates and see to it that more and more of them made it to the rank of Chunin and above, as he had recently been developing a unit of Shinobi called ANBU the black operatives more skilled even then typical Jonin. All of these rang the same tune to his ear, all this was to prepare them and at the same time to dissuade others away from War coming to the Land of Fire, or more specifically The Village Hidden in the Leaves. Suddenly thoughts like and unlike these vanished from his mind. He could sense large outpourings of chakra bursting in the ground beneath his feet, what felt like some thirty meters down.

This did not feel like the chakra of anyone Sakumo could recognize and so close to the borders of the village a chakra he did not recognize was not something that could go without worry. Though it wasn’t one single chakra source he could detect and the one that was in conflict with the other he could recognize as Donzo Shimura, an older member of the leaf village who he had recently heard was begging to form a select training organization… It was time to return back to the manner, there is something stirring in the depths of the forest, ominous and deceitful if the taint on the winds could be believed.
