Chapter 20
Sasuke Uchiha
The rain drops patting on Suigetsu’s window woke Sasuke from his deep sleep. The boy let out a groan as he attempted to get up from the floor. He gripped his head when he felt his brain pound from within.
“Shit,” he muttered as he attempted again to rise from the floor. He wiped the drool he felt on his chin and then checked his phone.
10 missed calls.
“Shit,” he groaned. They were all from his uncle. He completely disregarded that the rally was today. Lucky for him, Sasuke still had time. It was 3 in the morning. He could make it back to his home if he ran fast enough.
Sasuke looked at the window.
I’m going to have to run through that, he thought. Fucking hell.
He considered other options. Possibly calling a taxi? At this time, he was doubtful one would come. Maybe asking for a maid or butler to come fetch him? Nobody would be on the clock.
He then considered asking Tobi to teleport him home.
That thought alone gave him the resolve to find a coat and walk through the storm.
The rain poured heavy and mercilessly to those who were unlucky enough to reside under its dark, black clouds. With the combination of heavy rain and it being nightfall, the streets were a bit hard to see. Luckily for Sasuke, the occasional lightning strike would illuminate the path for his journey. Each lightning strike was followed by a loud, rumbling BOOM that would shake the ground. More importantly, the thunder would make Sasuke’s head hurt even more. He was still hungover from the night before. Or possibly still drunk. Sasuke could not tell.
But Sasuke had his resolve to keep him motivated. He was going to storm through this storm and make it home. The idea of Tobi coming to get him was terrifying for the boy.
And he walked through the hard rain. Through the deep puddles that formed on the streets. He walked through it all.
The coat he had stolen from Suigetsu was not as great as Sasuke was hoping for. It barely kept him dry. In hindsight, he might’ve still been drunk when choosing the coat. But the water from the rain was sobering him up so he didn’t mind. He hated the thought of coming home to his uncle to see him drunk. Not after his uncle made it a big deal that none of the liquor at home had been touched.
As he walked the anxiety of being seen drunk slowly started to creep in. It started small, a little question of whether Sasuke was still drunk or not but slowly and surely, with each step he took into another deep puddle, the question grew into a wild forest fire within.
What will they do when they see me like this, he kept thinking. All of the punishments he might receive ran through his head. And the missed calls on top of that.
10 missed calls.
All those missed calls for them to find out what he ignored them for. All for a couple hours of “fun”. If one could even call it that. For Sasuke, it didn’t seem worth it at all. But he needed to get home. He was going to face the music because whatever punishment he would get would be worse if Tobi was made to teleport Sasuke back home. So he kept walking through the rain, praying that he’ll sober up if he hasn’t already.
His clothes were heavy. It felt as if he had gained 50 pounds. But finally, he was home. At the front gate. He tried to open it, but the gate was locked.
“Shit, where is it,” he said as he dug into his soaked pockets.
“Fuuuuck,” he groaned. He forgot his keys. Very rarely was his front gate locked, but his workers did have its moments. Sasuke had a work around since this wasn’t the first time the dreaded maids and butlers had locked the gates while he was still out.
Sasuke snuck to the side of the gate. He knew that a tree grew the beside the gate and from that tree, a thick branch grew from it that hung over the mansion gates. All he had to do was climb the tree, walk along the branch and drop down on the other side.
As he approached the tree, he realized he hadn’t considered the rain into this factor. The usual grass that surrounded the gates was now more liken to mud and every step, Sasuke’s shoe sunk deep into that mud. But he was not going to wake up the entire home, especially not Tobi and Madara, to let himself in. If there’s a chance he could sneak inside and none be the wiser, he’s going to take that chance.
The rain had changed the sizing on his clothes with them becoming larger than they had been dry. And they still felt heavy, the water now completely soaked inside of the clothes he wore. Sasuke’s resolve did not falter. Not even when he slipped right before reaching the tree and falling into the mud and becoming covered in it.
I’m going to sneak in, he kept telling himself. No one will know where I’ve been or what I’ve been doing so I’ll have nothing to worry about. And then I’ll take a shower and go to sleep for another two- three hours. It’ll all be fine.
He climbed the tree. The rain made finding a grip on each branch harder, with Sasuke constantly slipping because of the rain. He continued to climb until he reached the branch that hung over his gate. Sasuke slowly and cautiously moved across the wet, slippery branch. After a slow minute of crawling across the branch, he was finally on the other side of the fence.
Sasuke then took a second. He was breathing heavy. It was times like this he wished to have a different quirk that enhanced your body, like super speed or strength. Instead, he was cursed with his lightning strike quirk- forced to work out to build strength like a normal person would. And this journey he had just made reminded him that he was extremely out of shape. After he caught his breath, he jumped down.
Sasuke landed on his feet. Initially.
But the rain made him slip when his feet touched the ground. He fell face first. Luckily, the grass was not as muddy on this side of the fence as it was on the other side.
He groaned as he got up, wiping the blood from his nose. But he made. Though hurt, he felt victorious.
Alright I’m here, he thought. Now all I’ve got to do is sneak inside and shower and go to sleep-
“LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS!”
Sasuke’s hands shot straight up. He looked around and found himself surrounded by people in all black. Some of them were transformed into rock like beings, others had fire blazing from their hands.
The drivers, he thought. He forgot that Madara was still president after all and that meant his home was under surveillance by these people. Though his uncle only had Tobi in his Personal Guard, he still had an abundance of drivers who operated more liken to bodyguards than just chauffeurs. The only difference being is that a Personal Guard was always by Madara’s side, even during meetings. His uncle was distrustful of most people it seems.
“ON YOUR KNEES,” one of them yelled.
“Can you guys keep it down,” Sasuke hissed at them. “I don’t want to wake th-.”
“I SAID ON YOUR KNEES.”
Sasuke saw lights starting to turn on inside the mansion. They were awake for sure.
He collapsed onto his knees. Madara’s drivers approached him and proceeded to handcuff the child. The handcuffs were tight, pinching into Sasuke’s wrists.
POP.
There he appeared in front of everyone. Tobi. Completely silent and standing tall over everyone. He looked down at Sasuke, initially with a heavy, murderous intent. The aura that surrounded Tobi was one of death. For a moment, Sasuke felt he was currently experiencing his last few seconds alive in this wretched world.
But after Tobi approached and saw Sasuke’s face, his aura changed to the same indifferent coldness he always had.
Another POP and Tobi was gone.
“Fuck me, I thought this little shit was dead for sure,” one of the drivers said as he kicked Sasuke in the back, causing him to fall face first into the ground. Again. This time no hands to break the fall since he was handcuffed. Sasuke made sure to get a good look at his face. He made sure to remember who that was.
It was the same one who didn’t keep his voice down when Sasuke asked him to.
You motherfucker- whatever my uncle does to me I swear I’ll do it to you ten times worse, Sasuke thought.
A few seconds later, the front door to the mansion opened. Out came Madara in his night robes, holding an umbrella. Standing beside him was Tobi.
“What the hell is going on here,” Madara yelled as he stormed towards Sasuke and the drivers.
“Mr. President,” the one who kicked Sasuke down said. “Stay back, we’ve caught an intruder.”
“You dumbasses, that’s my nephew! Uncuff him now! You’ve been working here for more than a week and yet can’t remember who my fucking nephew is?! I swear I should have each of you fired.”
The drivers quickly uncuffed the boy. The rain started to slow down with its pour, turning into a light drizzle.
“My nephew,” Madara said concerned. “Did any of them hurt you?”
“N-No,” Sasuke responded. He got up.
“Oh child,” Madara said as he looked at the kid. “You look terrible. Come inside with me. We’ll clean you up, gosh you must’ve been through so much.”
Sasuke and Madara both proceeded to walk away, towards the front door.
“I can’t believe this you shit,” Madara whispered to the boy when they were outside of hearing distance from the drivers. “I called you ten times and now I find you looking like a quirkless, homeless person? Is this how you represent the Uchiha name? Oh, trust me child, I’m going to punish you for this.”
Sasuke’s anger grew. He was already frustrated by the entire trip but knowing it was all for nothing infuriated him.
“One of them did hurt me,” Sasuke blurted when they arrived at the front door.
“Good,” Madara said as he opened the door.
“It’s g-good that an underling like a driver can harm the president’s nephew and get away with it?”
Madara paused then turned to Sasuke. He studied the boy’s face for what seemed like an eternity. Eventually he smiled.
“A lot has changed since I’ve come back to this town,” Madara said. “I’m liking the man you’re becoming. Point him out to me.”
Sasuke pointed to the man that kicked him who also refused to lower his voice. The one that was responsible for whatever was to happen to Sasuke by the hands of Tobi or even Madara himself.
“Tobi will deal with him later,” Madara nodded. “Don’t fret. But for now, we have you to deal with.”
Madara dragged the child into the home and shut the door behind him.
“U-Uncle,” Sasuke said as he backed away. “I-.”
“Don’t fucking uncle me. TOBI!”
Tobi teleported into the front hall, joining the two.
“Wait, I can explain-.”
“I am not hearing any excuses right now. What I am going to tell you is this. After what you said just now, it has made me reconsider some things. So now, I’m going to give you two options. Option 1, after the rally, Tobi serves you a punishment you deserve-.”
“No Madara, plea-.”
“I think you would hate that, so option two. You do something for me tomorrow.”
“I-…”
Sasuke looks at him surprised. Madara puts his hands behind his back and smiles.
“Lately, you have shown some qualities I feel is befitting a Uchiha. You gave me very important information, though hesitantly, and leveraged that information for your benefit. And today, with your quick thinking for petty vengeance, I feel it’s time to let you into the Uchiha family. To increase your involvement with us. I see the potential within you. You’re smarter than you let on, but what’s impressive is how successful you are at convincing people that you’re dumb.”
He laughs.
“I mean, LOOK at you. You always dress absolutely horrendously and are constantly ungroomed. Shit, if I never came back into town, would you have gotten a haircut ever?”
Sasuke now looked at Madara confused. It seemed the president noticed this and changed his tone.
“Sasuke, I see potential, but I need you to prove that you’re willing to tap into this potential. And with the threat of Tobi here to motivate you, I believe you will be able to prove to me this hunch I have about you. And I think you would be perfect for what I’ll need you for tomorrow.”
“W-What do you need from m-me t-tomorrow,” Sasuke hesitantly asked. He was almost scared of what this task may be.
“Well…” Madara kneeled to the kid. “Do you happen to be friends with that kid Naruto?”
