Gems couldn’t get scars.
But if they could, what would change?
It was a morbid question, but one that creeped into her mind all the same.
Many had the scars of corruption, but that was far from the same as the scars humans carried.
Physical altercations and experiences showing on their skin for as long as they exist.
Constant reminders.
Gems couldn’t get scars.
But if they could, what would she look like?
If the torture she went through for months was visible, what would change?
What would change, if those scars were outside as well as inside?
Gems couldn’t get scars.
But if they could, she wondered if everyone would think hers were like everyone else’s.
Would they think hers were like theirs , from battles long past?
Or would they see through, and see that she had never been so brave?
Gems couldn’t get scars.
But if they could, would they hide them?
She supposed most wouldn’t.
She would.
Gems couldn’t get scars…
No.
….Gems could get scars.
They may not show them on their skin but they exist.
She herself knows they exist.
A few rare cases unwillingly show them in the form of cracks.
If that happened to her she would be nothing but cracks, looking like a gem on the verge of shattering.
the irony.
Over time the wounds heal, but the scars may never go away, inside or outside.
But some things help.
Time helps.
Friends and family help.
Gems can get scars.
Because in some ways, gems are human.
They may be immortal, they may be different,
But, just like humans…
Gems could get scars.
What matters is how they choose to live with them.
