Remus POV

Remus turned and saw his friend practically emanating a dark cloud of anger around him. Remus stepped back instinctively. Regulus may have been a good deal shorter and thinner than him, but he could be damn scary when he wanted to.

“What are you doing here.” Regulus spat in a low voice. Poison practically coated the words and Sirius just looked at him, eyes wide, hardly registering what he was seeing.

“I- Regulus! Hi! I haven’t seen you in so long. Um-how- how’ve you been?” Sirius stuttered.

“How’ve I been?” Regulus repeats, unimpressed. “You leave and then come here after 4 years, out of the blue, and the first thing you say is ‘How’ve you been’?” Regulus clenched his fists.

Sirius gulped guiltily, then mumbled “Ah, sorry Reggie, I um, didn’t know you would be here. Can I-”.

Regulus turned to Remus, refusing to look at Sirius, fury coating his veins. “I’m going on break now.” he said through gritted teeth, storming back into the break room.

‘Drama queen, much,’ Remus thought, but realized it best not to say that aloud, unless he felt like being murdered.

Remus turned to Sirius helplessly and confused. “So, I’m guessing you two have some er, history?

Sirius looked down sheepishly, then replied “Yeah, you could say that.”

“Friend drama?” Remus asked.

“No, worse.” Sirius sighed. “Family drama.”

Remus shuddered. Regulus could be a right prick when he wanted to, practically the king of holding grudges. Remus had never had that much of a family himself, but assuming Reg’s family was anything like Reg, it must’ve been a rollercoaster.

“Oh, well good luck to you. Reg is certainly a stubborn one.” Remus admitted.

Sirius perked up like a puppy. “Do you know him well?”

“Yeah, we’re friends!” Remus replied cheerfully. Sirius was so cute, he couldn’t help but want to smile and laugh whenever he was around him.

“Worked together for a while now. He’s a pain in the ass sometimes, but we’re close.”

Sirius nodded thoughtfully, mouth in a thin line, and looked sort of distant, like perhaps he was remembering a time he and Regulus were close. It sent a pang to Remus’ heart to see him look so disappointed.

“Oh well cool, okay. I’m sure my brother’s doing great if he’s got someone like you around.” Sirius looked back up, happy again.
Remus blushed at this.

“Well, anyway, I suppose I’d better go help my bandmates setup for tonight, but I’ll be back later, hot stuff.” Remus’ blushed deepened when Sirius gave him a wink, before running off to a tall guy with jet black hair and wonky glasses.

He snapped out of his dazed state and rushed back into the break rooms to check on Regulus.

Remus stepped outside awkwardly to where Regulus had his back against the wall and his arms crossed, like an angry child. It was almost comical, as he muttered curses to himself and acted all brooding, even as a 21 year old. “Ah, hey Reg.. Alright?”

Regulus only huffed in response. In that moment, Remus decided that if the black brothers were dogs, Sirius would be a golden retriever and Regulus was an angry chihuahua/pomeranian.

“You.. you don’t have to tell me what happened, but we can stay out here while I can distract you for a bit, if you want.” Remus offered. “Chris can take over our shift, he owes me anyway.”

Regulus shuffled a bit, looking a slight bit more relaxed as his eyebrows stopped knitting together. “Yeah, okay, that’d be good. I just-” he sighed, frustrated. “I can’t believe Sirius would come here. I moved here to get away from my family, not to be ambushed by them.”

Regulus, ever the drama queen.

“I don’t think he’s trying to ambush you,” Remus tried slowly. “I mean, from what I can tell, he didn’t even know you worked here.”

Regulus bit his lip guiltily and then said “oh”. “Alright, maybe I overreacted. But he’s still a prick and I’m not ready to talk to him yet.” Regulus declared indignantly, frowning.

“Well, you don’t have to! I can keep him at bay if he comes near, and besides, he’ll be busy setting up and probably won’t have the chance to.” Remus said evenly.

“Wait, ‘setting up’?” Regulus looked at him finally, concerned.

“Yeah, his band’s playing here.”

“Oh.” Regulus said, as Remus had just told him he murdered his entire family. “That’s just great.”

“Hey, it’s not all that bad!” Remus cheered. “Not gonna lie, some of the members are pretty easy on the eyes.”

A rare smile spread across Regulus’ face as he shot a look at Remus. “Oh stop, you.” Then Regulus said

“Wait, am I correct that you were completely mooning over my idiot brother before?”

Remus put his hands up in surrender. “I can appreciate a man’s beauty, what can I say?”

“Pfff.” Regulus snorted.

“Oh, and you should still definitely put those amazing songwriting skills into action. This is your chance, Reg!” Remus put a hand on Regulus’ shoulder.

“With my stupid brother’s band?” Regulus said flatly.

“Well, Sirius isn’t the singer, is he? You could talk to him instead.” Remus said back quickly.

“Hmm, maybe.” Regulus pondered. He was quiet for a bit, they both just sat in each other’s company. Regulus then broke the silence and said “Alright, I think I’ve cooled down now. You can go back inside, if you want.”

“Really?” Remus said.

“Oh don’t look too happy to leave me. Also if possible, please keep your obvious flirting with my brother to a minimum, at least while I’m around.” Regulus told him, a sly smile on his face.

“Yeah, okay, I will.” Remus lied.

“Be there in a couple minutes.” Regulus told him.

Remus gave him a nod, then almost skipped inside to Sirius. Regulus fought not to roll his eyes.
