Life still goes on
Summary
Mary had lost everything. She felt like she couldn't have a future without all her friends that she has lost so in the height of her emotions and pain she obliviates herself so she can move on.16 years later and her daughter gets a hogwarts letter that changes everything and sparks an insight into Mary's forgotten past.

Mary had lost everything. Her whole life had been snatched away in a moment before it even had time to grow. She couldn't go on without them: without them she was nothing. What was the point in living if she was all alone. With all her thoughts rushing into her head she couldn't take it and took matters into her own hands.

"Obliviate," she whispered pointing her wand at her own head.

16 years later

"Mum, Mum there's a letter for me! A little girl ran excitedly into the kitchen. She handed the letter to her mum to look at while she did a handstand.

Mary (who was now 16 years older, happily married, and had a beautiful daughter) took the letter turning it in her hand. Something about it pulled on her heartstrings like it was familiar, like it used to mean something to her. She shook her head, as if to try and shake those feelings, whatever they were out.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door so Mary went to see who it was still clutching her daughters letter who was now staring at her confused and filled with anticipation on what it said and who it was from. Mary opened the door to an older woman wearing a green cloak garment and her hair pulled back into a tight bun. She's wearing glasses which gives her a stern look but she seemed to have this caring nature to her at the same time

"Mary," she said with a small smile.

"Um yes, how do you know my name and why are you at my door?" Mary questioned.

The older womens face dropped slightly but she tried to hide the slight look of disappointment," I'm Minerva, I'm a teacher at a school that we would like to enroll your daughter in. Can I come in please?"

"I suppose so, I'll go make us some drinks," Mary wasn't sure why she was letting this woman enter her house but she just had this gut feeling that it was the right thing to do.

"So my daughter Lily has magic powers and you want her to go to a school with other people with magical powers to learn magic?" Mary asked feeling a little lost.

"I know this is a lot to take in but yes. I can give a demonstration of magic if you would like?" Minerva offered.

"It's ok but thank you. I think it would be best to wait for my husband to get home so we can discuss this as a family with you to make sure our daughter is doing what is best for her," Mary replied taking their cups of tea to the sink.

Just as she said that her husband walked through the door.

"Dad," their daughter ran down the stairs.

He quickly put his bags down and hugged his daughter before they both headed to the kitchen.

"Hey, honey, who's this," Mary's husband asked while going to grab a biscuit from the jar.

"I'm Minerva McGonagall," the tall woman said shaking his hand

"She's here to talk about a schooling opportunity for Lily," Mary informed him.

Mary and her husband Michael led in bed thinking about all the events of the day.

"I can't believe our daughter is magic I swear as a kid I saw the neighbour's kid doing magic but my parents just said I had a great imagination. Maybe she actually was magic just like our Lily," Michael whispered with some excitement and pride in his voice.

Mary led next to him trying to nod along but her mind was moving faster then she could keep up. Why was there something so unsettling about this magic. Why couldn't Michael not feel this gut feeling of sort of dread. She wanted to be excited but for some reason this all felt so familiar yet so distant from her mind. She needed to protect Lily but how could she protect her from something that she has no idea about.

She had feelings like this often like she had lived a whole other life before this which was trying desperately to break into her brain while escaping her grasp at the same time. Like the fact of how she named her daughter Lily.

Lily was named after Michael's favourite flower and this special bracelet that Mary owned. It was her favourite and she barely ever took it off. She wasn't sure why she thought she must have got it when she was younger but she couldn't remember much about her childhood.

The bracelet had a beautiful Lily flower charm on it as well as a love heart and a blue star. She always felt this strong connection to it and she just knew it had importance even if she couldn't remember why.

22 years earlier

"I got us matching bracelets," Mary said as she handed out her gifts to her best friends Lily and Marlene, "I'm going to miss you both so much over the summer, 4th year has flown by, but I'll always feel like you two are with me by wearing this,"

"You are so soppy Mary, I love you," Marlene leaned into her girlfriend kissing her on the lips.

"Get a room," lily said throwing a pillow at them, laughing. Mary pulled away and put on her bracelet and showing it to the two girls.

"The bracelets have matching charms that represent us. A lily flower for Lily, a heart for Marlene because your last name means love, and a blue star for me because Mary means star of the sea," Mary explained.

"Mary this is so thoughtful I love it," lily smiled slipping hers onto her wrist.

22 years later

"Mary, are you ok, are you even listening?" Michael asked looking over at her with concern.

"Yeah, just deep in thought. I just want to do what's best for our daughter and I don't know what that is. I love her so much and...and I just want her to have the best," Mary replied tears starting to dribble slightly out of her eyes.

Michael hugged her close, comforting her while she sobbed into him unable to express all her feelings and thoughts but knowing she was safe and everything would be ok as he was there.
