A smirk crossed Tobirama’s face. The sight of it sent shivers down Hashirama’s spine. It did not bode well for someone. “Why don’t we give them what they want Anija?”

The first look

Izuna had run into Touka while on his way to his office. Their discussion about training plans for the academy’s newest graduates quickly turned into a petty squabble about whose plan was better. They were making their way into the office building when a loud screech interrupted everything around them.

“COUSIN! IZUUUUUUNAAAAA!!!!!”

That was NOT Hashirama.

With all the speed he was famous for, Tobirama quickly gave Touka a gentle hug (he had no intention of dying today thank you very much) before hooking his arms under his former rival’s and spinning Izuna around a few times. Easily setting the shorter man’s feet on the ground, he released his hold, and quickly flounced off through the doorway and on his way to his office with the cheery announcement of, “Oh! It’s such a beautiful day!”

The entire courtyard stared at the entrance of the building in fascinated, quiet horror. Izuna was frozen while his mind had a meltdown. Internally flailing, he turned toward Touka. She had a peculiar look on her face. “Did Tobirama get into his brother’s happy pills this morning?” He asked.

“I have no idea, and I think it may be a good idea for me to go home for the day.”

No sooner had she turned to leave, than Izuna had picked her up and thrown her over his shoulder. “No way. I need back up to deal with whatever is going on with your cousin!”

He took a step before freezing again. There was a sharp blade in between his legs.

“You are going to put me down. Gently. Or I will remove a piece of anatomy from you, and you will have to go to one of my cousins to get it reattached. If you need back up to deal with Tobirama, get your damned brother. I have no intention of dealing with whatever shenanigans my cousin has gotten himself into this time.”

Izuna, knowing that she would make good on her threat, quickly slid her down his arm to try and keep the blade from moving higher on his person. As soon as her feet were on the ground, she straightened her clothes, turned, and sprinted back home.

Izuna decided to follow her suggestion. He really did need the backup as he worked in the same office as Tobirama.

Madara made his way into Hashirama’s office. He wasn’t actually counting on anything, but Hashirama had promised that he’d finish the paperwork for the weaponsmith that the village was courting. He wouldn’t put it past the flaky, overemotional idiot to forget about it. Again.

He was halfway to the desk before he noticed that someone was sitting there. Madara had his hand on a weapon before realizing that it was just Hashirama. What was the tree doing? Why was he there so early?

Hashirama looked up at his friend and the hair on the back of Madara’s neck stood up. There was no emotion showing on the Hokage’s face. Did something happen?

“Did you need something?” The bland tone was not something he’d ever heard from his friend. Something must have pissed him off.

In shock, Madara quietly stated his desire for the promised paperwork. Hashirama gave a silent nod, picked up the paper from the corner of his desk and handed it over.

“If you do not have anything else to do in here, I would suggest that it would be productive for you to go back to your office and do your own paperwork, instead of bothering me while I do mine.”

Madara was back in his office before the words registered and the insult burned. How dare Hashirama imply that he wasn’t productive!
