The sound of a crisp page being flipped set the scene as in bed, Itachi re-read through his favorite novel, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. He exhaled as his eyes gracefully followed the beautiful writing. The romantic tension of the story had the 11-year-old closing his eyes and fantasizing himself in such a situation.
He inhaled the thought and opened his eyes, nearly flinching at the tiny figure stalking in the doorway. “Otouto? What are you doing up? It's bedtime.”
Itachi glanced at the clock, checking that he was indeed right.
Sasuke followed his older brother’s gaze. It was only 9:15. The 7-year-old sighed and let himself in.
“There’s a monster under my bed. . ” he responded bluntly, to the point of it sounding like sarcasm. Then the little boy trotted over to his brother's bed and plopped down beside Itachi.
“. . You know that’s not true, touto. You outgrew being afraid of monsters years ago.” Itachi said, confusedly. His eyes remained on his adorable baby brother, who lay there idly. He had a faint idea of what was actually going on.
“Did you just want to spend time with niisan?” he smiled.
Sasuke didn't reply, he only stared at his soft fidgeting fingers.
“-If I'm right. . touto, you know you have to ask Mother or Otousan before we have a sleepover. Have you done that?”
Sasuke cringed at how much of a goody two shoes his older brother was. “I didn’t get a chance to before they left. . “ he murmured.
Itachi was silent for a moment. He knew they’d both be in trouble if they stayed up late on a school night. “. .We can chat for a little while, but you’ll have to go to bed in your own room.” he said gently.
He watched his darling baby brother’s face scowl in response. Itachi's heart melted.
“So tell me what’s bothering you tonight. What happened in school today?”
Sasuke’s eyes never left his fingers. “Tomorrow we’re doing a play. It's called Romeo and Juliet. . and I'm being Romeo. . .”
“Are you excited for it?” Itachi prompted gently. Surely there was more to the story?
Sasuke blushed gently. “Promise you won’t laugh, or tell shisui-san.”
Itachi rose a brow, this was probably going to be something crazy, but nonetheless nodded to the verbal contract.
“I promise.”
Sasuke couldn’t keep eye contact, but he managed to glance up to his brother when he spoke. “I don’t know how to kiss Sakura-chan at the end. . of the play.”
“Touto, you probably don’t need to.” Itachi responded after a moment of taking in the innocent words.
“But. . but It says I do in the script. . . and even if I don’t. . I still want to know what it’s like. .”
There was a moment of silence.
Itachi looked to his pink, pure little brother who was very much avoiding eye contact. He sat up. “If that’s all it is. . I can show you how.” Sasuke’s eyes widened “Then you will go to your room and go to bed, okay?”
“Kay.. . ” Sasuke blushed and sat up before his brother.
Itachi shifted, he lifted the small chin and leant in to taste the soft pink lips. Their mouths melted together.
Sasuke’s heart skipped a beat. He exhaled in a moan and both siblings relaxed. Sasuke held his aniki’s hand as they made out. Naturally, their black eyes closed. Then after what could have been a sweet eternity, the wet, breathy kiss broke.
Sasuke’s face was red and he looked down with embarrasment, only to notice his pajama pants were tinted. “Aniki. .” he exhaled, looking up at his brother’s lips, wanting more of the intoxicating feeling.
Itachi noticed the tint in his brother's pants and immediately realized how wrong this was. "Go to bed, touto." he blushed.
“Wait, Oniisan. .” Sasuke said sheepishly. He didn’t want to be pushed away so fast. “Can’t we do this again. . I mean you teach me how to kiss?” His face flushed.
“. . we'll see. . .” Itachi murmured.
Sasuke’s eyes sparkled secretly. The little boy got up and went off to his room.
That night, Itachi relieved himself to the dazy memory of that sweet, poisonous kiss.
