Name: (Anoth) Vortex
Titles: The Balance Bringer, One of Three, The Gray Star, Ego, Dimensional Shifter, Prototype Soul Type Three, Star Born
Nature: Vortex is an interdimensional traveler who is known for a preference towards dynamic balance. The key tenant of his philosophy is that it is not about victory, but the interaction of Darkness and Light that truly ensures the continuance of creation. He works hard to stay in the background, preferring to allow others to make history.
Vortex views terms such as "Good" and "Evil" as Cultural, not Elemental. Those who channel the Light Aspects of Creation can be Evil, just as those who channel the Darkness of Destruction can be Good. Dislikes binary viewpoints, and prefers judging off of motivations.
He is known for gathering information on his journeys, and has one of the most in-depth understandings of how powers can be universally applied versus what can be done in a particular section of the Multiverse.
Makes most of his money/favors/resources by renting out Eleventh Dimensional Space to higher beings to use for entertainment purposes.
Powers: Has developed and refined one of the better variety of interdimensional travel. It allows companions who have dimensional power limitations to travel safely, although it sometimes results in weakened abilities. Views it as a personal insult if one of his companions comes to harm while under his care.
Basic Mastery of all the Six Pillars of Reality. They are as follows, (Death, Destruction, and Chaos), (Life, Creation and Order.)
He is considered a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None." His Siblings, Grandmasters of the Light Triangle and Dark Triangle respectively, are stronger than him when dealing with their specific skill sets, but weaker overall due to his flexibility. It is not a warm relationship, and they tend to stay out of each other's business unless there is some sort of emergency.
Generally a skilled Martial Artist. It is an ability that is relatively easy to develop, has a wide variety of uses, and only requires knowledge and dedication to accomplish.
Tends to avoid abilities that involve brute force, and focuses instead on methods that rely on using an enemies efforts against themselves. Does not actively seek conflict most of the time, but is prepared for it. One exception which will be noted later.
Despite a predisposition towards sarcasm, he is a skilled diplomat and networks aggressively. When Vortex makes a promise, he keeps his word without exception. Thus, he has learned not to offer it unless absolutely necessary.
Description: Vortex in his truest form is a Multidimensional Soul. Legends state that, at the dawn of creation, Vortex was one of three souls that were prototyped to embody different key stars. However, as is fairly common in prototypes, they still needed tweaking. Instead of bonding to the appropriate stars, the souls bonded with early life forms. The difference in power output versus capacity killed their first bodies immediately and fragmented their forms throughout time and space.
Basically, picture one billion square miles of dandelions releasing their seeds at once and you get a fraction of what a Vortex death would look like.
The soul embers bonded with a variety of different souled and saipent creatures. They enacted no control, but simply became a part of the bonded soul. A little bit of extra energy that could not be considered distinct.
At any given moment, up to seventeen trillion individuals with these traces will exist in Reality per Vortex Soul.
However, at certain points in time, a significant number of these embodied creatures die at once. That jump starts a collective consciousness that solidifies as the remaining figures pass away. When one is left, they fully embody the nature of the Vortex.
By absorbing and adapting to the various souls as they bond with his nature, Vortex is a more complete being, and is thus able to incarnate safely.
It should be noted that, while physical immortality is one of the paths he has learned, after an extended period of time his attitude becomes more belligerent and he starts taking more chances. This usually leads to a confrontation that causes his death, shattering his being all over again.
This can be considered a part of his natural life cycle. The current record for the longest incarnation can be calculated at four million, two hundred and seventy two thousand, six hundred and twenty three linear years.
Negative Trait: Fading Imprint
Vortex has one aspect to his existence that cannot be overcome. Due to his Multidimensional Soul, his grip on the narrative of any particular world is weaker than normal. Therefore, if he exits a world, the people he has interacted with will slowly forget him.
His existence is not removed from documents or memories, but people he has known will bring him up less and less. Friends, family, lovers: such bonds do not matter. Until he returns to a particular world, the people on it will treat his memory as background noise, and move on with their lives. As a result, he tends to keep relationships as platonic and shallow as possible, while maintaining contacts with extra dimensional creatures who are not affected by this trait.
Vortex Students: Vortex will, from time to time, take individuals from their own worlds and expose them to the wider Multiverse. Some say he does this on a whim. Others say he likes a challenge. Yet others say he finds it funny.
But those closest to him notice that those who are trained under his tutelage are also exempt from the effects of Fading Imprint.
Physical Characteristics: Vortex tends to prefer taller than average humanoid forms. Either adaptable or naturally longer lived races such as humans and elves respectively. Tends to be physically fit, while other elements are variable.
Only Vortex truly knows how many forms he has had, and he is not telling.
It should be noted that, while technically gender fluid, he prefers male pronouns and primarily identifies as male. That has not prevented his incarnation into genetically female forms or experimentation with transformation techniques.
Irregardless of physical make up, he prefers female partners, although he rarely enters into a relationship of any kind.
Non-binary gender situations on either point are handled on a case by case basis.
