Kakashi doesn’t know how long he was captured. He was blindfolded and chakra wired hand bound behind his back. His leg was trapped on the floor too. He couldn’t tell if it was day or night, his capture keeping him alive barely with food pills at random intervals. From the rocking back and forth and the ocean waves noise hitting the side he knew he was on a boat.

It might have been a week or just three days when he heard commotion above his prison cell. His capture was bringing someone new. There was a lot of pleading and crying. Civilian then. Until they reach his side of the prison. Someone was pleading and crying, voice high-pitched begging.

“Oh shut up! If you play nice we won't kill you!” the capture said throwing the person in the cell.

“Look like your going to have a friend for a few days!” The capture said slamming in the bars next to Kakashi. Kakashi didn’t bother raising his head.

Kakashi could hear the newcomer sobbing as he moved around, probably sitting themself up, he heard the capture mumbling angry as they creaked upstairs and closed the lash again.

His prison mate let out one last sob before it was quiet again. Kakashi moved his head a fraction up. The person was acting drastically differently. The mate cleared his throat a bit and let out a breathy sigh, smacking his lips together. Before there was some switch movement and Kakashi could feel a stare on him and an oddly familiar chakra swooping on him.

“Kakashi-sensei?” The person said, voice deeper than the hysterical person the capture brought. Kakashi recognized that voice. He heard it yell across the academy so many times. For a moment Kakashi felt hope.

“Iruka-sensei?”Kakashi's voice croaks. It was a while he didn’t talk then.

“Oh wow, how are you doing?” Iruka said cheerfully like they were catching up in front of a bar and not deep in a prison cell in the middle of the ocean. That threw Kakashi off.

“Well, I’m blindfolded and chakra hand-binded, but except for that, peachy.” Kakashi deadpan.

“Oh, that sucks, they just used regular rope for me, but they took my vest. I still have my hanta-ate and hairband though!” Iruka added, he was acting way too cheerful

“Glad you still have your identity, Iruka-sensei,” Kakashi retorted.

Kakashi couldn’t see Iruka giving him a bemused expression. He tested his ropes. Thanks to the trick he was drilled in his head by Ibiki for years, it was loose. Score.

“You sound to chipper Iruka-sensei, did they drug you?” Kakashi said dryly but had a hit of concern. He didn’t know how he would be able to get out of this mess, and trying to save a drugged Iruka isn’t going to help.

“Oh no, I’m on vacation, I was drunk way before they jumped the cruise boat.” Iruka said, “I mean, I’m mostly tipsy, but this is the most fun I have ever had in years.”

“Don’t go out much?”

Iruka hummed, he was chatty drunk. “Can’t, know too much, but don’t worry, Ibiki and Inochi been drilling torture and interrogation tricks in my head since I was 16, I’ll get us out of here in an hour or so.”

“I’m not very much of help,” Kakashi sigh

“Don't worry, just act annoyed while I play the helpless scared shinobi and we will be golden, now if you excuse me, they are coming back.” Iruka took a deep breath work his throat again and was sobbing softly like he was trying to hold them down.

The door opened again and a capture heavily went down the ladder, dropping in the prison cell.

“Not much of a shinobi are you.” It was someone else

“I-I'm sorry, “ Iruka sniffs his voice higher than usual. Good plan.

“Can he be with the other civilians, hearing him cry is annoying.” Kakashi snarls.

The captive laughed out loud, Iruka faked being scared.

“Naw this is much better than any torturing device, you’ll be talking in no time.” He slammed the bars again and left the room locking the latch.

Iruka continued to fake for another minute or two until he suddenly stopped like before.

“Uh, that was easy.” Iruka let out as he unbound his hand easily, quickly wrapped the rope to store it later and remove his hanta-ate.

“What are you doing?”

“Saving your ass apparently, you’re going to owe me another hanta-ate by the way,” Iruka said, much closer to Kakashi than before, making Kakashi jump in surprise. Iruka mumbled a small sorry as he worked on detaching the metal plate. He made it custom just in case something like this would happen. Attached behind the metal plate was a B&E toolset. He removed it and opened it to take out a small knife-like tool.

“I’m just next to you, if you lean back I will cut the chakra cord on your hands now,” Iruka said softly, Kakashi could smell the alcohol on his breath. Iruka wasn’t kidding. He did as he was told and could feel the warm chakra and heard a snick and felt his hand free.

“I’ll do the same for your feet now.” Iruka narrates before cutting the cord holding Kakashi's feet down.

Kakashi rubbed his wrist trying to get some movement back into them. They were stiff from being head behind him for so long.

“Now let's see this bind, Oh that’s easy.” There was a spark and Iruka winced, but in the next few moments Iruka just said to close his eye and the bind around his head to hide his eyes was gone.

“They weren't too fancy, that’s a shame,” Iruka said, throwing the seal bind behind him before placing the tool back in the strap. Kakashi slowly blinks his eyes to get his vision back.

Iruka was shirtless, wearing a tight bathing suit, he wasn’t wearing his hanta-ate and was wrapping a toolset around his upper arm. That was showing tribal tattoos that goes on his back and the other arm. He wasn’t wearing any shoes either.

Kakashi thinks he was in a genjutsu for a moment, and when Iruka took out his hairband he really wanted to confirm the genjutsu theory. Iruka placed it between his teeth for a moment when he grabbed what was left of his headband hanta-ate and wrapped his hair back up.

“There, I can work better without hair in my face.”

“Uh.”

Iruka grabbed the metal plate and quickly snit a side, and showed it to Kakashi as he opened the metal plate to show a neat row of sabon.

“There are two levels before getting the outside of the ship,” He gave the sabon to Kakashi, starting to unwrap his headband to reveal chakra cords.

“I need to find the civilian, there are some emergency ships on the side, you find our tools, should be in the cabin up one floor from this. Most of the captors are drinking what they took from the cruise ship, lucky bastard.” Iruka mumbled to himself. Before nicking his thumb and making a summoning jutsu.

Two small messenger turtles appeared.

“Oh!” Kakashi was surprised, didn’t know Iruka could use summon jutsu, also those Sabon were pretty good quality.

Iruka told one turtle to get the closest allied shinobi patrol guard and guide them to this ship. The other was to tell the Hokage. Before using the toolkit to unlock the doors.

“You ready?”Iruka asked, looking at Kakashi who was stretching and getting blood back in his arms and legs.

“Sure, find our stuff, secure the boats. You got the Civilians, survive until reinforcement.” Kakashi nodded, Iruka grinned, opening the door as they took the first step out to freedom in so many days.
Iruka raised his fist. Kakashi fist bumps as they make their shinobi out.

They used signs to move around before having to separate with Iruka giving him a short layout guide to finding the storage room. Kakashi found his vest and Iruka's, he put on his, packed Iruka's, and grabbed a few other things that might help as he sneaked out again to try and go up another floor to reach the boats, exactly where Iruka said it would be. He lowered the boats a bit before going down to meet with Iruka.

It would be another moment before reinforcement will find them.

With the help of Iruka’s aunt and cousin, two other shinobi trained they help get out half the prisoners before the captures finally caught on that hey, their shinobi prisoners are out and about.

Iruka goes in front of Kakashi with a kunai in hand, now wearing his vest on. His Aunt and cousin did the same thing.

“Kakashi-san, Yuuri, get the civilians out, we are burning this place down,” Hama said.

The reinforcement came to see boats full of civilians, the rogue shinobi boat burning in the back, with three shinobi, mostly sober, walking on the ocean near the civilian boat. Iruka holding Kakashi by the shoulders.

Kakashi couldn’t believe it when he was being healed by a medi-nin. He was saved in less than two hours by a drunk academy teacher on his vacation because what? Wrong time, wrong place.

The guard ship was bringing everyone back to the land of fire where another was checking for survivors of the burning mess Iruka and Hama left.

“Oh, Kakashi, how are you doing?” Iruka asked, it was a few days already. Iruka had a beer in his hands and was finally wearing a shirt. Still no shoes though.

“Better than the first time you saw me. Thank you, Iruka-sensei, if the rogue wouldn’t have raide your cruise, I might not be alive right now.”

“It’s alright,” Iruka patted him on the shoulder and looked at him very seriously, “You can owe me by coming in the next one.”

Kakashi blinked, hands quickly grabbing Iruka who was swaying.

“Are you...Are you drunk?”

“Please, I’m tipsy at best, have you eaten? Yuuri caught a few fish and Hama and I been rotating shifts on koton the shit out of it.” Iruka said pulling Kakashi toward the outside of the ship and he wasn’t kidding, there was a feast out there.

“We might not be on our cruise anymore but we make due,” Iruka added, taking a swing of his beer.
