Chapter 2
"Kakashi? Is that my Name?" The silver hair boy asked before he passed out.
Minato's eyes widened in surprise, and a knot tightened in his gut at those words.
Oh kami. This is all my fault. How could I have let something like that happen?
After taking a shaky breath, he tried to focus back on the situation in front of him. Nevertheless he jumped a bit when someone touched his shoulder. He turned around to the boy, still with Kakashi in his arms.
"Is he okay?" Obito asked concerned.
"It looks like he has amnesia," Rin answered instead of Minato.
"Wait, you mean..he can’t remember us?" He shouted back.
"Let‘s not make false assumptions right away," Minato replied in a firm tone.
He was scared, but he refused to let it show in front of his students.
Please Kakashi. Please be okay.
Minato gently laid him back on the bed, ensuring his student was covered up with the blanked.
"Rin?" was all he asked, and it held all his questions in the one word.
How is he? How is his conditions? Is it very bad? Is he going to make it?
Rin nodded slowly and moved forward, stopping next to him. She used her medical skills to examine Kakashi’s body.
"He is stable."
She tried to appear calm but her body betrayed her.
Minato could see the way her hands were shaking slightly and the way her breathing was slower than normal. On top of it her eyes glistened in a way he never seen them do. She was still looking to his teammate on the bed.
Minato turned his gaze from Rin to Kakashi.
The boy looked like he was being tortured. No one needed to be a medical to see that.
Suddenly all his feelings crushed on him. He was angry, worried, troubled, confused and upset.
He felt like he was about to break down but he knew he wasn’t allowed to do that.
Right now, all his students depended on him.
He turned around to Obito and looked at him determined.
"Obito, do you have a spare set of clothes ready? Please give them to me," Minato requested.
The addressed boy didn’t even hesitate a second to obey the orders of his sensei. He hurried over to the blond Jonin and handed him the clothes.
Minato took the clothes thankfully and placed them next to Kakashi on the bed.
"Rin, Obito..Please wait outside. I will hurry so we can get back as soon as possible," Minato said quitly.
"but Sensei we.." Obito began to protest, but a single glance from Minato was enough to silence him. He immediately took Rin's wrist and led her outside.
Once they were gone, Minato turned his attention back to Kakashi. Seeing him so pale and injured was heart-wrenching. He had never imagined something like this happening to his youngest student. The image of Kakashi lying there naked, used and tortured, was seared into his mind.
Reaching out, Minato gently touched Kakashi's cheek and leaned over him, being careful not to cause any further harm.
"I don’t know if you can here me Kashi but I’m here for you. Everything is going to be fine. That’s a promise!"
He exhaled loudly and scolded himself to pull it together.
Slowly he took the clothes und put them on him. He tried to be as gentle as possible.
It was hard not to be frightened by the wounds on Kakashi‘s body.
How could he let that happened?
Flashback
They say being a teacher doesn't only mean imparting knowledge and developing skills but also carries a lot of responsibility. Until this day, he never really knew how true this statement could be.
His team had the task of going to the Land of Lightning to retrieve a scroll, which they were to deliver safely to Lord Third. It seemed like an easy task, didn't it? He had completed thousands of missions like this before, but this was the first time he was doing it with his own team—Rin, Obito, and Kakashi, his adorable young students.
Just moments before, they had decided to rest and continue the mission the next day. Minato thought it was a good idea as both Obito and Rin seemed exhausted. The only one opposed to it was his youngest student, Kakashi. He argued that they had to fulfill the mission as soon as possible and that Obito's tiredness shouldn't hold them back. As always, the two of them ended up fighting. Honestly, if there ever came a day when they managed to survive without bickering, Minato would be more than concerned. But then there was Rin, always there to help him out. If he were truly honest with himself, she might have better control over the boys than he did.
The fight ended before Minato knew it. He wanted to grin with pride at his team and tell them they did a great job. So he turned around to address his students, but instead of speaking to them, he was attacked by an unfamiliar jutsu. He felt his body fall to the ground. The next time he woke up, everything was engulfed in darkness. No matter which way he looked, all he saw was black. His entire body felt weak and sore. He realized he was lying on something hard. From a distance, he heard someone calling his name, urging him to wake up completely. He opened his eyes and looked directly into two concerned faces—Obito and Rin.
Wait. Obito and Rin?
He stood up with shaking legs and observed his surroundings.
Where the hell is Kakashi?
