Hostile Relations
I slowly wake up, not recognizing my surroundings until I see that Im in some sort of bedroom. I check my side to see it bandaged, feeling the bandages I can feel stitching under them. I look around for my weapons and equipment and I see they're on a table looking recently cleaned.
I grab them and put them in their respective spots, then I leave the room slowly with my gun lowered but ready. Someone obviously helped patch me up and saved me but I should still be wary on who it may be. After fully leaving the room I see someone laying on a couch, facing away from me, spinning a pistol, which I see as a M1911 style pistol. I slowly move forward silently with my gun trained at the person. Eventually getting in front of the person to see its the same orange dog that I saw on the horizon and open the door before I pass out. Looking around them, there is a weathered Kar98k rifle with a scope laying against the couch and judging by the figure of the person, that this was a woman.
She then opened her eyes and stopped spinning her pistol as she smiled. "You got up faster than I thought." She exclaimed. "Who are you? And how long was I out for?" I said calmly but with a stern voice. She then holsters her pistol and sits up straight. "Im Dogday, soldier in COES. You were out for about 2 hours. You next." She said while winking on the last part. I snarl hearing that she is from COES. I just failed my second objective, which was to ignore, avoid, and minimize all contact with COES. "Operator Catnap. Callsign: Midnight." I say like I've done the other thousand times. " Ooh, you have a special name, like a secret agent guy." She says, slightly mocking. "That's just the name they gave me, and I'm not a secret agent, Im just here to complete my mission." I say to her. Since that secondary objective is already failed, I might as well make the most out of this situation and get some information on where should I look next.
"Anyway, why did you save me?" I ask her. "Well we heard from our arms dealer Bunzo, that you looked like you were gonna pick a fight with FIN, and I wanted to see if that was true." She said. Great. "Welp, I should go and scout around to find my target. Goodbye." I say as I turn to leave. "Hey wait!" She shout behinds me. I turn around to see her standing, slinging her rifle around her shoulder. "We could help eachother." She said, clasping her hands together. With her standing fully I can guage our differences in weight and height. She is about as tall as my shoulder, and she is quite a bit leaner than me. "Oh yeah? How so?" I said to her. "Well, we have a plan to do an ambush on the road where someone important from FIN would be there, another gun with us, and you could get some info out of him, win-win?" She said with a big smile.
This is a pretty good opportunity, since I was out for two hours, any and all tracks from the vehicle would be long gone. "Alright fine." I say as I walk out. "Hold up. Before that." She says as I turn around. "Take me to where your base is first." She said smirking. "No." I immediately said. This is more than a bad idea, even if she isn't my enemy, that doesn't mean that the rest of her group don't see me as one. "But it's only fair since I'm gonna take you to where my base is with all my comrades." She said. I sigh deeply. I know if I say no then I lose out on this opportunity and also she probably is the type to keep saying please until I give in. "Fine. One look, then straight to your base." I say to her, slightly annoyed. She then closes her eyes as she smiles happily. "Thats great! Im following you then." She says walking outside with me. I walk outside seeing what I assume is her bike, next to mine.
"You found and moved my bike?" I asked her as I squinted my eyes. She just shrugged. Sighing while shaking my head, I got on the bike and turn it on as she does the same, both of our engines roaring to life. I turned to look at Dogday as she gives a thumbs up. After revving the engine a few times, I drive off, hearing her follow behind. After driving for a while we had arrived back at my safehouse, garage door still open. We park our bikes in the garage as I close the garage door. I then head inside the main room and lean against the wall.
"Is this your base?" She says while looking around curiously. "Its a building." I say, trying to keep the location of the true base vague. "Ah I know, secret entrance!" She exclaimed as she looks around with a smile. She walked past me looking at the stairs to the second floor, then she walks right to the middle of the room. Slamming her foot down on the carpet, it produces a slightly different sound and she smiles while turning to look at me. Im impressed, she's quite smart I'll give her that.
Ahe then rolls up the carpet to reveal the hatch, opening it. "Ladies first." I say to her. She then goes down the ladder as I follow suit. We then reach the real base. "Wow, nice place you got here." She says. I lean against the opening of the doorway. "Right, now that we've seen my safehouse we can now go to your base correct?" I say to her. "Yeah, we could." She says as she sits down on a chair backwards, leaning against her arms on the backrest of the chair. "Or we could talk some more..." She trails off, looking to the side. Oh fuck, this isn't going where I think this is going. Is it?
"What do you mean by that?" I said, glaring at her. "Well you know. You're a pretty handsome guy, and we're both here at your base, all alone." She said while shifting from side to side. Its not the first time I've been in a situation like this, normally I would've just ignored them or walked away, but since she's pretty vital to the mission right now... I gotta get her to just drop this.
"Listen, whatever you're insinuating. Its a no." I said sternly. She looked a bit surprised by this. "Why not? Im pretty good looking and, well no offense but I think Im quite a bit younger than you." She said. I can't deny that she does look attractive. But mission comes first. "Oh really? And how old ARE you?" I ask her, getting annoyed. "Well, I'm 19 so that's gotta count for something?" She said with a weak smile. "Oh, so just because you're not underage, I should applaud? I should just throw myself at you? Well guess what, Im 29. There is a 10 year age gap between us!" I said, a headache starting to form at the back of my head. "Well, I'm not bothered by that, you shouldn't be too, you're still quite young!" She said. I stare at her expressionless, shaking my head. "W-well, just cmon, Im not that bad." She said getting up from the chair.
She then grabbed onto my left arm. I gently try to pull back but she then pulls back harder. "Let go." I say to her. "No. Not until you give me one chance!" She says pulling me further. "I said let go!" I say as I yank my arm back, to which she then pulls harder. "Ah fuck!!" I yell out, pain forming at the area of my wound on my side as I rest my hand on it. She quickly lets go and looks shocked. "Oh no! Im sorry! I- I, where's your medical stuff? I can-" I hold my hand up to her, interrupting her. "In that crate, labelled medical." I say as I point behind her. She then looks behind her and grabs the nearby crowbar, pulling off the lid, and grabbing a few things from it.
Why am I giving this girl so many chances? Sure she's important to the mission now, but I could've just subdued and interrogated her at this point? I get pulled out of my thoughts with her sitting back on the chair. "Umm, I could take a look at it if you want..." She says, trailing off. I sigh as I sit down on my bed, taking off my rig and vest while lifting my shirt. Some new blood had started to pool on a spot on the once clean and white bandages. She then cuts the bandages with some scissors, and looks at the wound, a stitch has popped open.
After cleaning the area of blood, she sutures the wound again and disinfects it, reapplying the bandages. After that, I put my shirt back down as she gets up and sits next to me, giving me a gentle hug. I recoil a bit, from surprise, but I just let it happen. "Im really sorry. We can go to my base now if you want." She says softly, at the same time I can feel some droplets of water get on my shoulder. I take a deep breath and pat her gently on the head with my other hand. "It's okay. Let's just go" I say to her.
