Chapter 6
Part 5: Sasori
Sasori hated himself.
Okay, so maybe that wasn’t true. He didn’t hate himself, but he sure did hate his thoughts.
When the hell did he think that joining the Akatsuki would be a good idea?
He had perfect grades, and didn’t want to help people study, and he was confident in his puppet abilities, unlike most of the would-be members.
So why did he join?
Well, maybe it was because of a certain blond haired blue eyed boy.
Sasori hated his brain.
~~~
“He went outside to the forest?”
Sasori ran his fingers over his hair.
“You seem awfully concerned about him.” Deadpanned Itachi.
Kisame grinned.
Sasori felt a hint of red spread across his face.
“I-I’m just worried about him! Isn’t that normal?”
“For a simping dumbass, yeah.”
“SHUT IT-”
Sasori leapt up from the table, tugged on his jacket, and opened the door.
“Well, I’m going to go find him now, so bye!”
He slammed the door.
Ignoring the laughter that was now erupting from the house, Sasori speed walked to the forest, confused over why his heart was pounding against his chest. Deidara was just a friend- just a friend! Nothing more than a friend. Right?
He had barely stepped into the fringe of the forest when Obito slammed into him.
~~~
“THE SHITTING HELL-”
Sasori, understandably, was going to scream at Obito for running into him. Like, the kid wore a mask, sure, but he wasn’t half blind like his cousin Itachi.
Obito, however, had the look of a half-crazed person on his face. He clutched Sasori’s shoulders and screeched:
“SASORI SENPAI! PLEASE HELP ME! I’M BEING CHASED BY A CRAZY DEMON FROM THE UNDERWORLD AND I DON’T WANNA DIEEEE!”
Sasori grabbed Obito’s arms and lightly slapped him.
“Are you fucking insane-no, wrong question. Are you okay? What is chasing you?”
His question was answered as Obito was tackled by a monster.
It had eyes titled vertically, and never blinked, with scaly green hands not unlike a human. One hand was twisted in a gesture for help, and the other one had three fingers missing. Blood dripped from it’s mauled legs, but somehow it was still able to stand up. A partially mutated third leg was growing from it’s arm, but looked deformed and small. It’s face begged for help, but it’s clawed arms moved, ready to scratch something. Something being Obito.
Sasori groaned.
Why were his friends the kind of people to drag themselves into danger?
~~~
“Obito, get behind me.”
Tobi quickly scrambled behind him.
“Sasori-senpai, will Deidara-senpai be angry at me for doing this?”
Sasori coughed a little, thankful that Tobi couldn’t see his face right now, being behind him.
“Er-Um-Well, let’s focus on defeating this thing, shall we?”
It gave a roar so ferocious it reminded Sasori about an explosion. For a second, he stood there, immobilized, unable to move.
Then he reached into his pocket, breathing returning to normal.
Obito crouched behind him, trembling a little. Sasori felt his heart choke a bit, although he couldn’t focus on that right now! What was wrong with him?
So Sasori shoved his hand inside his pocket, taking out a piece of string.
The monster lunged at him.
But he was already moving his fingers.
---
One thing about being a puppet master that was smart enough to make puppets out of nothing was that Sasori could take a strong human being and make them to his liking.
The third Kazekage was a prime example.
“Sasori, still tinkering with that puppet?”
His grandmother. Chiyo was always a bit observative.
“Yes, grandma.” Sasori replied.
Chiyo smiled.
Sasori returned the smile half-heartedly.
Chiyo didn’t know that this puppet was once a human being. She couldn’t know.
Sasori adjusted the puppet’s hands.
They should be able to kill something now.
~~~
Sasori’s fingers moved with the speed of an experienced puppet master. Of course, even if he was INexperienced, he would still move his fingers very fast, because he didn’t want to die!
And he didn’t want Tobi to die either.
The thing bared it’s hideous face into a snarl, ready to kill. But it didn't get the chance to.
The third Kazekage shot a barrage of needles at it, many missing but many more making contact with the thing’s slimy skin.
It moaned and tried to claw off the needles before giving up and attacking Sasori again-this time, with a different direction.
Sasori jolted and practically threw the puppet behind him, before turning around and blocking all of the creature’s attacks, blocking Obito from it.
“Obito, back away slowly.”
Obito obliged, slowly inching behind him.
“IRON PRISON!”
Iron shot up from the ground, twirling like a ballerina, bending so smoothly one had to wonder if it was actually iron. It melded around the monster, trapping it.
Slamming its head on the bars, the monster bellowed and gave a sound identical to a human sob.
Sasori slowly lowered his puppet.
“Tobi-Obito, are you okay?”
The boy could just nod.
“Woah, you were epic!”
Sasori turned beet red.
~~~
“Deidara? Deidara??”
Sasori yelled into the branches of the trees.
“Deidara-senpai? Where are you? Are you okay???”
Tobi trailed after Sasori.
Sasori’s breathing quickly started gaining traction again, along with his heart. Deidara isn't answering. He wasn’t! Usually he would be calling back by now! What happened to him?
Tobi looked over curiously.
“Is Sasori-senpai worried about Deidara-senpai?”
Sasori huffed.
“No, I am not. Keep looking.”
After looking for about ten minutes, with Tobi randomly mumbling words like “Pillows” or “Muffin”, and Sasori’s heart ready to explode, they finally found something.
A trail of dried blood.
Tobi screamed.
“IS THAT DEIDARA SENPAI’S BLOOD?”
Sasori looked shocked at the sight, but before he could do anything else, a flash of yellow caught his eye.
Deidara.
