Crossing paths with his second omega
Their way back to their village was silent. A tension in the group which made Naruto frown in confusion. Naruto’s head was abuzz, his Alpha instincts haywire after his first coupling. The Alpha inside had prompted him to stay with Gaara, to go back and lay with his omega. But the soul inside of him, his deepest parts told him to go and find Sasuke. Somehow after his first mating his obsession for Sasuke seemed to have increased - it was crazy.
Naruto felt something deep in him calling out to Sasuke like a small extension of himself. He wondered if Sasuke heard it.
A swirl of wind rose around the travelling companions and stopped them in their path. They guarded their face from the icy gale whipping at their faces. The wind died down and the party slowly opened their eyes. The red clouded robe floated in their eyes as Uchiha itachi changed from a crow into his human form.
The party gulped nervously. They were already hard pressed tired from their previous encounter with the Akatsuki and then one of their strongest, their former Konoha comrade was in front of them, ready for a fight. The group though tired, still stood in a defensive position, their bodies covering Naruto’s instinctively.
Naruto frowned at the man who stood there wielding his Sharingan, so similar yet different to Sasuke’s. Naruto’s fists tightened. The man looked so similar amd yet different to Sasuke that it was pulling at an unknown part of Naruto’s psych. And yet he felt like bashing his face. The man who was responsible for Sasuke’s betrayal was worth a thousands of death in Naruto’s opinion.
His anger flowed through his fists and Naruto flew forward aiming a punch at the Uchiha’s face. But he missed or Itachi twisted out of reach in time. His eyes were slightly wide. He had not expected this. And yet the scent of his Alpha pheromones threatened to bring Itachi to his knees. Itachi frowned slightly. The last time they had fought, Itachi had not faced with an active Alpha Naruto. He had coupled recently, Itachi thought.
This is bad. Itachi thought. If he had awaken his alpha instincts, defeating him would be hard. Itachi’s eyes hardened in determination. He had to take him out. It was only way. He knew what Naruto meant to Sasuke.
Soulmates.
Itachi had known for a long time what Naruto and Sasuke were. Alpha and omega soulmates pair. Itachi immediately touched his own glands, the invisible mating mark still burning his skin.
Shishui.
Itachi bit his lip hard, drawing blood to withdraw himself from the darkness inside of him, the missing part of his soulmate.
He dodged another ones of Naruto’s kicks and snagged his foot from mid air whirling him around and throwing him to the ground. Naruto crashed hard on the ground and coughed from the harshly broken ribs. Itachi knew his taijustu. Red eyes blazing, Itachi rushed forward, his hands forming familiar Katon signs. Naruto backflipped, launching himself in the air and popping a clone he condensed his energy into a Rasengan.
Blazing fire and blue chakra met midway causing a blast of blazing fury. Naruto and Itachi were caught dab smack in the blast radius. His eyes, cold yet empty reminded Naruto so much of his last fight with Sasuke. His eyes softened slightly as the porcelain face of the older Itachi screamed a sort of coldness Naruto had never felt before.
Immediately his all forgiving heart tugged a bit at the hidden sadness deep in the older male’s eyes. He stretched his palms and cupped Itachi’s face bringing the man in a comforting hug. And suddenly a series of memories flowed through Naruto. He was not sure where the memories came from but a 13 year old Itachi’s tears as he murdered his family was not something Naruto had expected, not even in his wildest dreams.
“You, you have suffered a lot.” Naruto hugged the man tighter.
Itachi was one moment staring at the blonde, his face reflecting their combined powers and then he was lying in the blonde’s arms. And the arms were so strong and warm around him that Itachi felt like his heart was at peace even if for a while. He was not sure why he felt such peace in Naruto’s arms but like a moth in search of flame, Itachi dug deeper into Naruto’s smaller frame.
“This is the only way Itachi!” Itachi’s hands lost the familiar touch as his soulmate plunged into the depths and suddenly disappeared.
“No!” Itachi’s voice broke tore through the forest. His body wracked in sobs as his head pounded in his ears. Suddenly his eyes were bleeding, flowing down his face and dripping on the ground. That day Itachi felt half of his soul being ripped apart from his body - his soulmate mark burnt and disappeared in a wisp of air just like his lover. Itachi was broken and all alone in the world. An omega without his Alpha, a soul without its mate and a husk whose only purpose was to protect and salvage his last remaining sanity, his brother.
Naruto was crying now. His eyes wet from the shared grief of the broken Uchiha in his arms. He felt Itachi’s love for Sasuke. A tug called out to his soul and the words tumbled out of him.
”I will claim you as your Alpha.”
He felt Itachi stiffen in his arms.
“I know it is hard for you. After losing a soulmate, the omega can mate again. You don’t need to do this alone. You don’t have to do this to Sasuke, I will protect and help you. We can save Sasuke together.”
“No...please I need to do this. Sasuke needs this. He is the only one who can end this.” Itachi’s hands gripped Naruto’s jacket tighter.
”No. It is not! Sasuke is suffering, do you not understand that?”
”I know. But it is too late now Naruto. He is already at the path of destruction and I do not deserve to live after what I have done. I do not deserve you, do not deserve this.” Itachi’s tears escaped after a long time. His heart was feeling the most peace he had in years.
”You deserve more Itachi, much more. You deserve a better life, a happier existence. Whatever you have done for Konoha. It was truly noble, patriotic. I respect you so much. You deserve everything in this world and I promise to give you the best of everything.”
Itachi nodded carefully. His desire to end everything was shaken by Naruto’s desperate plea. Was he truly deserving of this, of this happiness?
Naruto held the face in his hands and deeply kissed Itachi. A tingle ran through Itachi’s spine. And the extreme indulgence of his happiness momentarily made him forget about the betrayal Sasuke would feel over this.
But suddenly his little brother’s horrified face surfaced in his mind and he pushed Naruto back.
No he could not do this. No matter how safe Naruto’s arms felt and how crazy it made Itachi feel. No matter how nice he smelt or how his aura seemed close to Shishui’s. Itachi could not do this. He could not betray Sasuke like this.
Itachi shook his head. It felt wrong, everything about this felt wrong.
“I understand this is hard for you, but please, please let me claim you at least. Your soul is dying Itachi and I will not let you die.”
Itachi stared at Naruto, his eyes misty and his heart fluttering. It would not be so bad right. Not so bad to live right?
”Your redemption is not death, it is to protect the brother you love the most. Please Itachi, come back.” Naruto opened his arms wide,”Come and let me protect you. You have done enough.”
Itachi’s last willpower crumbled. His desire to end everything changed and his desire to protect Sasuke, his only living reason clouded his previous hate. A realisation dawned on him, how wrong he was. A mist cleared from his consciousness and he felt enlightened. He was following the wrong path. This was not the way... he had to protect Sasuke, protect Konoha.
And his heart knew nothing would be best than joining hands with Naruto. His death was truly near and he had to hurriedly establish another bond to be strong enough to help Sasuke. And logically Naruto was the strongest Alpha alive due to his Uzumaki lineage and the power of the Kyuubi. He had began all this and it was his responsibility to end this. Sasuke was a kid, he could not allow Sasuke to do this alone.
His reasons were to save Sasuke and only that. Itachi’s shudder had nothing to do with the overwhelming happiness he felt the moment the omega in him knew the protection of a strong alpha.
But he frowned. This would hurt Sasuke. Would coupling with his brother’s soulmate really be the only way. Itachi told himself many times that this was wrong, to take a step back. But his selfish heart which had received warmth and light after so long - tugged at his heart. Itachi nodded and stepped forward. Tilting his head, baring his glands to Naruto. Naruto’s eyes reddened from Kyuubi ‘s chakra as his sharp fangs sank down on Itachi’s glands, a trickle of blood flowing down his neck.
Naruto removed his teeth and stared back at the trembling Uchiha who went into a forced heat. Naruto stared back at his previously neglected companions and with a commanding nod, took the Uchiha in his arms disappearing into the forest.
