Flowers, flowers 4
"I think it's getting kind of late," Poppy remarks quietly. She covers her mouth as she yawns.
The seat she's in feels like it's glued to her.
Across the table from her, the town mayor smiles sheepishly. "You're probably right."
The room they're in doesn't have a window...
Oh, wait, it does. It's just blocked by a colossal pile of papers, the curtains drawn halfway so that the sun earlier in the day wouldn't damage any of the fresh ink on the papers.
Poppy puts her head down with a groan. "Why do we get so much paper work."
"Because we're sooo talented and popular," Dandy replies with a sigh, making her laugh a little.
"Wish I could just run my company without any work," Poppy mumbles. She sighs as well. "But! That would be boring. I guess." She sits up and starts gathering her papers and writing materials.
"It builds character!" Dandy hops out of his seat, wobbles, catches himself, and smiles at her. "Who knows what kind of mayor I'd be if I didn't have paperwork to bore me half of the week! Or more!"
"That must be sarcasm," Poppy says as she pushes in her chair with her shoulder, and they both snicker.
They walk to the elevator with their load of pens and important papers (they can't possibly carry all of their work. The window remains mostly covered by it).
"It's a bit weird seeing you drained," Dandy remarks. "No pop to give you an energy boost?"
"I'm not THAT drained," Poppy says defensively. The elevator practically slams to a halt, or at least that's how it felt to her, because it makes her wobble.
Dandy tries and fails to hold in a laugh.
"Okay MAYBE," Poppy says, giggling.
The lobby of the town hall is quiet except for them. Poppy sucks in a breath to stop laughing, smiling. "Hey, I wanted to ask earlier but we've been SO BUSY. What kind of flowers are those?" She gestures to tiny ceramic vases off to the side.
Dandy squints. "Oh, those." He glances away, to her surprise. "They're poppies."
"Ooh." Poppy grins. "I like the pink one the most!" She nudges Dandy, almost making him stumble. "Did you grow them yourself again?"
It's as if her energy is coming back to her—which spreads to him, too, as always. "Of course," he replies, returning her grin.
