Chapter 7
“-NOO! I WANNA GO ON A REAL MISSION!” I listened as Naruto had exclaimed,
’fuck, I didn’t want to go to the land of waves, I grimace and leaned on the wall, as Sakura moved over to stand next to Naruto,
I heard Kakashi sigh from my left, glancing over at him from the corner of my vision, the tension in his shoulders is just barely there,
‘sure enough, he sure as hell doesn’t want to be here either, I looked over at the rest of my team, Sakura also looks annoyed, and Naruto is still arguing,
I started to pick at the skin around my nails, not bothering to listen in on the conversation,
as Iruka-sensei and Naruto yelled in the background, I closed my eyes and rested my head against the wall,
’with what happened yesterday, I’m not sure I’m ready for this mission, I just arrived a couple of days ago, and yet… I haven’t got anything done, not about Danzo and not a word about Itachi, I sighed, and dug my nails into my hand, trying to ground myself, but it didn’t work
‘It’s like nothing has changed, fuck….. I need to find oni-san and get away from here, Danzo stirred up my plans, I didn’t want to deal with him yet, if he doesn’t leave me alone I might have to-
“Sasuke!” Sakura tapped me on the shoulder,
I flinched and lean away from her,
‘how….. I didn’t even notice her move?
I brushed off the look she gave me and tried to focus on what was currently happening,
“-I’ll have you do a Rank-c mission, you’ll be bodyguards for someone,” the Hokage proclaimed, smirking down at us,
‘You got to be kidding me,
”really! Who! a lord? or what about a princess!, Naruto questioned waving his hands up and down excitingly,
”Now, don’t go getting ahead of yourself, I’ll introduce you now” the Hokage, took a drag of his pipe and leaned back in the chair,
The door slammed open and in stumbled our client, the smell of alcohol following him in,
’Disgusting, I thought, shifting over so I could stand next to Kakashi, Sakura, and Naruto following my lead Equal looks of disgust on their faces,
“I’m Tazuna!, the veteran bridge builder, You’ll be risking life and limb by guarding me to the max, Until I return to my land and complete my bridge!” Tazuna exclaimed,
'Fuck it,
“As you can see, this is the team I’ve put in charge of your mission,” the Hokage, motioned over towards us, a calm look on his face,
“What? how are they supposed to guard me! They’re all just brats! that one looks like they got dressed in the dark, the boy over there looks like he’s emo! hell even the girl looks horrible!” Tazuna yelled, gesturing towards us, A stubborn expression across his face,
I and Sakura stare blankly at him,
‘don’t kill him, just don’t kill him yet, I kept repeating in my head over again trying to stay calm,
Naruto started stomping over Toward Tazuna with an angered expression
“HOW DARE YO—“
Naruto got cut off mid-rant as Kakashi pulls him back by his jacket,
“You can’t cause bodily harm to our clients Naruto, that goes to you as well Sasuke ” Kakashi warned, looking down at us, already annoyed
‘I already hate this..,

I took a sip of my ramen and sighed, the ideal chatter from my team sitting around me keeping me calm,
’I've already packed for the mission tomorrow, laid out extra weapons to put in my clothes, and cleaned, what could I possibly be forgetting..,
”hay Sasuke, why did you agree to come to eat tonight? It’s just the other day you seemed like you rather not?” Sakura questioned, swirling her chopsticks around in her bowl,
“As I have said, I was busy when y’all asked me last time, but this time I didn’t have anything else to do, it’s not like I despise y’all’s company,” I explained and took a bite of my ramen,
The surprised look that was on Sakura and Naruto's faces soon melted, Sakura smiled at me before she continued talking with Kakashi-sensei,
”what?” I asked looking over at Naruto, he gave me a weird look before sighing,
“Why do you want to be in Anbu?” Naruto questioned out of the blue, the change of conversation seemed to grab both Kakashi and Sakura’s attention,
”huh… now that you mention it Naruto, you’ve got a good point, you never talked about why you wanna join Sasuke” Sakura muttered, sliding her now empty bowl out of the way,
’Because I already have experience as one,
“well… I’ve always had people saying I would be one, on top of that Itachi and my cousin Shisui were in it as well…, so I kinda just grew up with the expectation that I would be in Anbu” I explain instead,
’I'm not lying, it was expected of me but after the massacre…. no one wanted the ‘last Uchiha’ to end up like his brother,I frown, and look at my team Sakura and Naruto's curious expressions haven’t deteriorated yet,
Kakashi sighed and started to pay the check, as the rest of us stood up,
Naruto leaned on my shoulder as we waited for Kakashi-sensei Sakura stood in front of us,
“Everyone ready for the mission tomorrow?” Kakashi asked walking back over to us his hands in his pants pockets,
“Yep! I even packed extra ramen in case anyone wants some!” Naruto smiled still leaning on my shoulder, as we started to head down the street
Sakura nodded, a small smile on her lips as she walked next to Naruto,
”I got everything” I respond and tucked my hands in my pockets as a calm silence filled the air,
we eventually had to split up and head home, and the cold air ran over my figure as I walked down the dark street of Konohagakure,
I made sure to stay alert to my surroundings, checking that I wasn’t being followed like the other night,
‘I need to make sure I have everything for tomorrow, once I get home I’ll…. I sigh flexing my fingers and walk into the Uchiha district, I’ll check Itachi’s room, I hope he doesn’t mind but I need stuff for my next mission,
I opened the door, took my shoes off, and started walking upstairs, they creaked with my weight but luckily didn’t break,
’how did they send a child to live here and not feel anything?, the question popped into my head without warning, but I brushed it aside for now wanting to focus on my current task
I passed the bathroom, and I soon stood in front of Itachi’s room the door handle covered in dust,
‘Is it actually ok if I go in here? will nii-san mind? I’ll tell him when I see him again, then I’ll know
I breathe in hold it before letting it out, and slowly move my hand to grab the doorknob,
the years-old dust coming off my hand, I turn and open the door stepping in as I did so,
the room was covered in dust, the bed was made perfectly, and the desk was clean just some old paper and a dried-up inkwell,
there was nothing out of place, I walked over to the closest, and push it open the doors creaked with protest,
‘It’s so dusty, I thought rubbing my nose
some old clothes were hanging up, and some boxes sitting at the bottom,
I pull them out without trouble, I set them on the bed and started rummaging through one,
kunai, and some old black Anbu shirts, I set them to the side and pulled another box over,
School textbooks were stacked at the bottom, and surprisingly there was around 72$ In money, I put that aside with the rest and pushed it away,
Anbu probably cleared this out, I sighed
something caught my eye under the side of the bed, I reached down, and picked it up I turned it around,
A photo of me and Itachi stared back at me, a seven-year-old me was resting on nii-sans shoulders we both had smiles
‘He's always cared, how could- no, it’s The Hokage and Danzo’s fault, not mine or Itachi’s, just there’s
I yawn today’s event's had made me tired, rubbing my eyes, I lay on my side, the photo now set in the stack of stuff I decided to take,
I slowly blink, I grabbed a pillow to hold against my chest, and closed my eyes,
darkness soon fell over my vision,
Unaware as a crow perched on the window tilts its head before flying off, a black feather falling off its wings slowly falling onto the ground,
Its red eyes gleaming in the moonlight,
