Chapter 10
SAKURA POV
“Sorry about that, I was si-”
His words stopped, his eyes moving towards something behind Sakura.
His body seemed to shake as he gripped the bridge's railing.
He looked sick.
Sakura turned to see what had Naruto so shaken up.
Walking towards them was the completion of their team; Sasuke.
He was looking at the water beyond the bridge. He seemed to be lost in thought.
Sakura could only imagine what must be on his mind. She secretly hoped that either one of the boys would break the silence, reassuring her that there was nothing to worry about.
But the second they locked eyes, they both turned away, not saying a word.
She glanced at Naruto. He was leaning off the bridges railing, his eyes shut tightly. She saw that his fingers were locked to the wood, his knuckles nearly the color of snow.
When she glanced at Sasuke, his eyes were looking at the ground. His mouth was turned to an unpleasant angle, his hands fists in his pockets.
She wanted to say something, anything, but there was not a single suitable idea that crossed her mind. She was immensely grateful when Kakashi suddenly appeared.
As he started to speak of some reason for why he was late, Sakura gave him a look that pleaded him not to worsen the mood. He seemed to understand, and instead of starting with his usual
excuse for his tardiness, he got right to the point.
“Today, we'll be working on close combat.”
