"And that is what is wrong. You are too blind to even see what is clearly in front of you." Tobirama left then, and all of his things he'd left at Madara's over the years, now gone. A box containing all of his from Tobirama's, all neatly packed, was sitting at his feet.
He tried to go back to their home, to find out what the fuck went wrong but the wards that once felt like freshly fallen snow on his hot chakra and a kiss in the rain now no longer welcomed him. They actively shoved him like a blast in a hurricane, whipped at him like ice in a blizzard.
When he went to demand Hashirama make his brother talk to him, he found the man crying at his desk, scroll white knuckled in his grip.
"He left Madara. The Gold and Silver brothers have been making too much trouble recently. Too many deaths at their hands. Tobirama sent himself on a mission to handle them. He handed this to me and disappeared."
"Then he'll be back. We can figure out what the fuck happened then."
"Madara, this is his will."
At those words, something in Madara broke.
