Even Years Later
“Alright class, you have become Genin. You will be put into groups based on your skill.” Iruka-sensei continued to read from the list.
Amaya wasn’t paying attention, doodling in her notebook as Iruka continued to list names, that was until she heard her name.
“...Amaya, and Sakura Haruno.”
She perked up slightly, brows furrowed as she looked around the classroom, eyes eventually landing on the pink haired girl who looked annoyed by the blonde sitting next… to Sasuke. Quickly she turned away, slumping over the desk as the blonde began to yell.
“Hey, hey! Why is someone as good as me in a group with someone like Sasuke?” He huffed.
“Because you have the worst grades in class Naruto, while Sasuke has the best.” Iruka huffed before continuing to read off the list.
Amaya gave a small sigh, more than thankful when the class was let out for lunch.
“Hey, Iruka-sensei…” Sakura’s quiet voice pulled Amaya out of her half-awake daze, “Why does our group have four members, while the rest have three?”
“Well… There was an extra person who graduated.” Iruka spoke, pausing when Ibiki, a high ranked Jounin, stopped in the doorway, gesturing for Iruka to come with him.
“I’m sorry, that’s all I can really say for now.”
“Alright then Sensei.” Sakura gives a small bow before walking out of the room.
---
Amaya chose to stay in the class for lunch, continuing to draw in her notebook as each group had been collected by their Sensei. When she heard the loud dragging of a chair across the floor she slowly raised her head, shooting a glare at whatever disrupted her peace.
“And what are you doing?”
She pauses for a second, seeing Naruto carefully placing a chalkboard eraser in between the door and the frame.
“It’s his fault for being so late.” Naruto huffed.
“You’re gonna get us all in trouble.” Sakura huffed, the corner of her mouth twitching up.
Naruto had just finished putting the stool away when the door slid open, the clattering of the eraser hitting the floor grabbing all of their attention as Naruto began laughing.
“I’m so sorry! I told him not to do that!” Sakura put her hands up defensively.
“How can I put this… Well, as for my first impression of you guys… I hate you.” He spoke bluntly, before letting out a sigh.
He quickly turned on his heel, leaving us confused for a moment. The first to follow was Naruto, shouting all the while. The other three followed closely after, jogging to keep up with the Sensei who had a head start. They had followed him up to the roof, where he gestured to the bench by the railing where they slowly took seats.
“So… Introduce yourselves.” He spoke, gesturing with his hand.
“Well… what are we supposed to say?” Sakura broke the awkward silence, getting a few nods of agreement.
“Your hobbies, likes and dislikes, dreams for the future, that sort of thing.”
“Hey, hey! You should go first Sensei, tell us about yourself.” Naruto huffed, his arms crossed.
“Well… I’m Kakashi Hatake. I don’t feel like telling you my likes or dislikes… For dreams for the future, I haven’t really thought of it. As for hobbies, I have many.” He spoke.
Kakashi had white hair that was spiked up, a tuft of hair helping his headband hide one of his eyes. He wore the typical Jounin uniform with no modifications to it, just the addition of a black mask covering his face.
“That’s stupid. All he really told us was his name.” Sakura muttered, getting a nod from Naruto.
“Well… I’m Naruto Uzamaki! I like instant ramen, but what I like even more is the ramen from Ichiraku that Iruka sometimes gets for me! I hate the three minutes you have to wait after pouring the boiling water, and my hobby is eating and comparing ramen!” He spoke cheerfully, before shifting into a more serious tone, “And my dream for the future… is to become Hokage so the village will be forced to acknowledge me!”
He had blonde spiky hair with sky blue eyes, and the tiniest of lines on his cheek, almost looking like whiskers. He wore an Orange Jacket with matching pants, having chosen to use his headband to keep his messy hair out of his face.
Kakashi’s gaze turned to Sakura, as he gave a nod.
“I’m Sakura Haruno. What I like… I mean who I like is…” She paused to look at Sasuke, “And my hobby is, I mean…” Another look at sasuke, “And my future dream is…” She squealed loudly.
“And? What about your dislikes?” Kakshi asked bluntly.
“Naruto!” She huffed, as Naruto gave a dejected sigh.
She had beautiful long pink hair and seafoam green eyes. They were paired with the red dress with white circular designs, which only helped in making her look pretty.
Kakashi turned again, giving another nod.
“I’m Sasuke Uchiha. I have lots of dislikes, but no likes in particular. And… I do not feel like summing up my ambitions to a dream, because I will make it come true. I will restore my clan to its former glory.” He spoke evenly, hands clasped together.
He looked just like he did as a child… except he looked a lot less adorable, his face serious and stern only emphasized by his black eyes and natural frown. He had begun to wear a dark blue jacket with the Uchiha symbol, his headband kept his ever-growing bangs out of his eyes.
Kakashi nodded again.
It took Amaya a moment to realize he meant her, jolting slightly before she gave a nod.
“I’m Amaya, I like nature and cats. I… don’t feel like discussing my dislikes, and for hobbies I like cooking and drawing. As for dreams for the future… I want to regain my memories, but for long-term goals… I’m still trying to figure that out.” She rubbed the back of her neck, giving a soft smile.
“Hm. You’re all unique in your own way! Now, tomorrow we’ll have a survival exercise.”
“A survival exercise?”
“Hey- hey! Shouldn’t we be done with that kiddie stuff? Shouldn’t we be doing real training?” Naruto shouted.
“Well… If I tell you, you won’t like it.” Kakashi let out a small laugh.
“What’re you talking about?” Naruto again huffed.
“Yeah Kakashi-sensei, what is it?” Sakura questioned.
“Well… of all those that graduated, only three teams will pass.”
“Wh- HEY! What was that exam for then!?” Naruto shouted.
“To weed out potential candidates, the ones who have potential as ninja.” Kakashi gave a grin, “Tomorrow I expect you to meet me at 5AM, don’t be late. Also, don’t eat breakfast- you’ll puke.” He stood up, standing by the railing, “Well, you’re dismissed.” He hummed, and vanished.
