Part of the Pack

Sai sat on the couch paranoid as always, it had been a few days since kakashi had left and his siblings were starting to get restless, Naruto had energy he needed to get out by running around, Sakura wanted to go look at flowers and herbs, Sasuke just needed to get out and train or just be active.

He looked to his right, Kaguya was taking her nap, she looked so calm and peaceful even though she had just thrown a tantrum because she wants her big brother, it seems they both do.

He sighed and got up stretching, he should really get started on lunch "Guys what do you want for lunch" he called up to the three upstairs playing hide and seek and frowned when he didn't get an answer.

Heading upstairs he peaked around to see if he could see anyone, first he checked the girls room, no one there then he moved to the boys room, bingo.

They were all passed out on the floor from playing, he smiled before quietly shutting the door and heading back downstairs. He looked through the cabinets looking for something they'd all like.

He decided on sushi and some onigiri, it was simple easy and not to much for them to eat, he started making the food trying to be as quiet as possible.

He wondered if kakashi was okay, if he was gonna come home.

"Sai?" Sasuke had woken up and come down the stairs "what are you making for dinner* he yawned stretching a little "Sushi and Onigiri" Sai smiled even though he wasn't happy, faking a smile came naturally to him, he didn't think much of it though. "Could you make the table" Sasuke nodded and got out plates.

"It'll still be a while why don't you go wake up Naruto and Sakura?" Sasuke shook his head at this, confusing Sai "why not?" He asked confused.

Sasuke thought for a minute silently.

"I wanna talk to you, honestly" he said finally after a few minutes, looking serious, more serious then usual. Which is weird knowing how serious he always is.

"Of course, what is it Sasuke?" Sai said hesitantly "are we safe? When kakashi left, he didn't say anything he just left. And you, you've been weird, paranoid even; what's going on? Why did kakashi leave why won't you tell us anything? We're old enough Sai, you can't keep this from us." Sai stood there in shock, he didn't expect this outburst.

He didn't know what to say as Sasuke waiting there waiting for an answer "I-" he looked for the right words to say before sighing "we're safe, kakashi just needed to go out to make sure we stay that way, it's nothing to worry about really" Sai pushed his nervousness to the side as he smiled.

"Now go get Naruto and Sakura we don't have all day" Sasuke seemed to be thinking for a second, taking everything in, almost deciding if he wants to believe Sai but ultimately nods and heads upstairs, as Sasuke disappears up the stairs Sai let out a breath he didn't know he was holding until now.

He didn't want to admit it but he was getting worried, he was scared they were going to run out of food just with how much and fast Naruto eats, he was worried that the man was coming back he was worried that Danzo- wait who's Danzo?

He didn't know anyone by that name.

"Ack!" Sai clutched his head as a massive pain hit him like a getting it by Zetsu - who's Zetsu? He fell to his knees in pain gripping his hair, he vaguely saw a blurry pink, blonde, and black hair, he felt there arms trying to sooth him and heard just bearly what they were saying. It hurt.

He didn't know what was happening and he was scared he started to see an image in his mind, people were fighting No no no no no no no something in his mind was screaming he didn't know why but he also agreed he didn't wanna see this, he wanting to to just go away.

And it did, as soon as he tried to push the horrific image away it did, it left like nothing was there, slowly release his hair and gently felt his face, it was wet. He was crying, he also heard crying that wasn't him. He looked up to find all of his siblings crying Infront of him.

Sasuke had a hold of his shoulders, small tears in the corners of his eyes, Sakura and Naruto had his arms presumably trying to get him to stop pulling at his hair, they were crying their eyes out now pressing into his shoulders.

And Kaguya behind them crying and screaming, he felt horrible he hated making them cry. He pulled Sasuke and Kaguya closer to be hug them as he put his arms around the pinket and blonde.

He just held them there, whispering his apologies, he just wanted kakashi back, they needed him back.

He didn't know how long they sat there but they were there for a while, he had put the food to the side, as it was done cooking and then he just returned to comforting them. They cried so much, he felt so guilty but he didn't understand what happened and that scared him. He looked down they were wiping their tears away.

He had finally gotten them all to the table to get some food, he filled their plates and sat down with his own. It still felt weird with the empty chair where kakashi would sit, he really hoped he'd be home soon.

He was only 7 he didn't know what he was doing, but he had to listen to kakashi, and kakashi told him to watch and protect his other siblings so he was. "Sai" Sakura said shyly he only hummed in response "uhm we were wondering... Uh are you really okay? You don't look so good.." she looked down at her bearly eaten food.

He looked at the glass of the window to see his reflection, he now has dark bags under his eyes and his normally flat hair was all over the place and knotted from his pulling on it. He nodded at her, not fully knowing what to say. He looked around at each of them and realized the only one to actually touch their food was Kaguya, who was way to young to know what was going on or fully stay on that subject. Even Naruto had bearly touched his food and that was concerning.

They didn't look like the actually believed him but that was okay they didn't need to believe him, he just needed them to feel just a little better. And soon enough they all actually started eating their food. Sai wasn't very hungry but made himself eat to show that he was okay, and nothing was wrong... Just like kakashi always did.

They all ate like nothing was wrong and that made Sai feel both awful and relieved, he did have to get up to get the kids juice as he had forgotten about drinks in the panic.

He sighed, everything was going to be okay and if it wasn't he would pretend it was, if it was scary he'd pretend that he was brave.

If it was, he'd pretend it wasn't.
