I Wanted to Say Goodbye
Shikamaru ran as fast as he could. He had gotten a letter from Ino saying that Temari had come to the village, and that since he was out on a mission, she was her escort this time. He cursed his luck. He hadn't seen Temari in two months, and he just happened to be out on a solo mission when she finally got the chance to come to Konoha.
He jumped from tree branch to tree branch, and glanced up at the full moon that shone down on him from above. Ino had said that Temari couldn't stay very long, but since she had gotten to the village so late that day, she would be staying that night in the village, so he only had tonight to see her.
He knew it would be almost 1:30, 2 in the morning, but he just had to see her at least once before she left in the morning. He jumped continued to jump, pushing his chakra into his feet to make him go faster. He still had at least another hour of travel before he would get back to the village. He did feel a little bad for not accepting the village elder's offer for a nice meal and a place to sleep that night, but he just really wanted to see Temari.
That hour felt like the longest hour of his life, but he finally reached the closed gates of the village. He did a quick hand sign before using his chakra to jump over the gate, dropped down to the ground and waved at the startled guard, then dashed off to the hotel that Temari usually used.
He panted as he stared up at the dark building, not really surprised to see that there were no lights on in any of the windows. It was the middle of the night. He walked up to the front door, and was very glad that it was open, and slipped silently inside and up the stairs to the second floor where Temari's room was. He panted a bit as he stood in front of her door, and hesitated.
'Would she be mad if I woke her up? But if I didn't, would she be mad? Dang it, this is such a drag.'
He quietly knocked on the door, but no sound came from inside. He knocked again, a little louder, but still trying to be quiet to respect the other occupants of the other rooms. This time he heard a small shuffling sound. He waited another minute, and when he still didn't hear footsteps coming to the door, he knocked again.
He thought about trying the door handle, but knew that Temari was a cautious person, even in familiar territory, so he knew the door would be locked. He didn't have to worry about it though, as a small sound of footsteps came up to the door, and the door opened to see Temari staring out with half open eyes.
He smiled. She was so beautiful to him. Even if her hair was a little messy from laying on it, the way it fell over her shoulders and framed her face always made his heart skip a beat.
"Shikamaru? What in the world are you doing here? I thought Ino said you were on a mission?" Temari asked as she opened the door a little more.
"I just got back. I wanted to see you before you left in the morning," the dark haired shinobi said, keeping his voice the same tone as hers so they didn't wake anyone else.
She let out a yawn. "You could've stopped by in the morning," she said, a bit annoyed.
"I have a feeling I wouldn't want to get up that early after getting back so late, and didn't want to miss the chance to see you."
She gave him a sleepy smile and opened the door the rest of the way so that he could come in.
He quickly slipped in the room, and after she closed the door and turned to him, he cupped both sides of her face and pulled her in for a gentle kiss. "I missed you," he said when he pulled back.
She smiled, her hands resting on both of his arms that were still raised. "I missed you too."
He kissed her again and pulled on her head so that she was walking with him, and he stopped when he felt the back of his knees hit the side of the bed. He pulled away again and lowered his arms. "I just wanted to say goodbye."
She smirked at him and crossed her arms. "That's it?"
He smiled. "Well, I could stay for a while if you wanted."
She pushed him on the bed, the smile never leaving her face as she crawled on top of him and smashed her lips back on his.
He smiled in the kiss and placed his hands on her butt, feeling the firm muscles in them through the thin shorts she wore, and trailed one hand up and under the thin tank top she wore to run it over the bare skin on her back.
Temari hummed into the kiss and pulled away to stare down at him. "You have two months worth of tension to get rid of, Nara."
"I'll do my best," he replied.
She didn't give him the chance to say anything more as she dipped back down for another kiss, deepening it when he gave her permission to enter his mouth. They made out for some time before finally removing clothes and adventuring into more intimate activities.
NNNNNNNNN
The next morning, Temari woke up and saw Shikamaru still sleeping peacefully. She had her head on his chest, and reached up to move a stray hair out of his face, just admiring her lover in the dim morning light. She had missed him so much over the last two months. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes again, just trying to enjoy the time they had together, but knew that she had to head back to her village soon.
Another ten minutes of just laying next to her warm boyfriend, and she let out a sigh as she sat up and stretched, making the man beside her stir and turn over so he was facing her. He wrapped his arm around her waist as if to keep her in place, and she chuckled. "Lazy, I have to get ready to leave," she said as she dipped her head down and placed a kiss on his temple.
Shikamaru groaned and his face twisted in discomfort at the idea of getting up, tightening his grip on his waist a little more.
Temari just continued to smile at him. She really didn't want to leave the bed. She wished she could just spend the whole day with him. 'Maybe Gaara wouldn't… No. I have to get back. I'll just have to talk to Gaara about getting some time off.' She sighed again and moved his arm off her so she could get up.
She heard him groan again and looked back at him and saw that he was now looking up at her through half open eyes. "Morning."
Shikamaru smiled, probably at the fact that she was standing there completely naked in front of him. "Morning," he said sleepily.
Temari turned back around and grabbed her bag that was sitting next to the night stand beside the bed, then walked towards the bathroom. She could feel his eyes on her and wished with everything she had that she could just go back to him, but pushed that thought from her mind and disappeared into the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, she walked out of the bathroom to see that he had also gotten up and dressed. He was currently pulling his hair up into his normal spiky ponytail, his hair tie between his lips.
"I think I like you better with your hair down," she said as she stopped at the end of the bed.
Shikamaru smiled and grabbed the hair tie. "Same to you, but we both know we won't go out in public like that," he said as he wrapped the tie around his hair. Once he was satisfied with it, he stood up and walked up to her. "But I think I like the fact that only I get to see you like that," he said, then cupped her face and kissed her.
"Well, you and my brothers," she said as she stepped away from him to grab her bag. She looked over at her large fan that rested on the wall, and tried to decide if she wanted to carry it, or seal it away in a scroll. She opted for carrying it and placed it on her back before putting her bag on. She started to walk towards the door, but stopped when she felt him grab her wrist.
He pulled her back, wrapped his arms around her waist, and kissed her again.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss, playing with the few strands of hair at the base of his neck that refused to be contained. "I really need to go," she said when they finally broke off the kiss.
He placed his forehead on hers and closed his eyes. "I wish you could stay longer."
"I do too, but Gaara needs me to get back as soon as I can. The only reason I stayed last night was because I didn't get here until like seven. It wasn't supposed to be a long mission. He'll be expecting me back, but I promise, I'm going to talk to him about some time off. I don't want to wait another 2 months to see you again."
"Good. I'll talk to Lady Tsunade too, that way we can get time off together. Maybe we could go to a hot spring in the Land of Rice."
Temari smiled. "I'd like that."
He lifted his head to kiss her again before he finally stepped away from her. "Can you at least get something to eat before you leave?"
"I probably shouldn't, but… Ok. A quick breakfast won't hurt."
He smiled and followed her out of the room, stopped by the front desk to turn in her key, then headed to a small tea house that wasn't too far from the hotel. He grabbed her hand after they left the hotel, and she smiled at him as she gripped his hand tight.
"That was some goodbye kiss last night," she said.
He smiled and slipped his free hand in his pocket. "Just wanted to get my point across."
"Well, you succeeded. I wouldn't mind that kind of goodbye from now on."
"I'm sure that can be arranged," he said, his smile turning into a sly one.
She laughed. She loved him, even if he was a lazy bum.
