Heavy
Izuna took a half step back, the glare from his brother one he has never seen before. The clear tears turning to red blood as his Ainiki's unique Mangekyo pattern sprang to life and spun violently in his direction. His brother picked his mortal enemy and rival up with such gentleness that had him puzzled. And then when he saw him leap with the man in the direction of the Senju compound Izuna more than thoroughly confused.
Until he saw what was left behind, sitting in the now cooling pool of Tobirama's blood… blood he caused the man to spill with his own sword. (He had finally caught him in a genjutsu, one that showed the person their worst fear.)
It was a fan, made of Uchiha metal, blue waves dyed into the fabric. An engagement fan? But why-? Then he saw an engraving on the handle. The Kanji was very small, but easy to see as the blood dried within it.
It was only five words, but Izuna's heart dropped with the implied weight of them.
"For Tobirama. My Eternal Flame."
He grabbed the fan and delicately washed it in the lake, a numbness spreading over him. He used a small doton to hide the blood stain on the ground.
"Hey you, you're an Uchiha, right?"
"What of it?" He bit out at the older man who approached him.
"Sheesh. You shinobi are so rude." The man scoffed. Izuna offered a small apology and let him continue.
"I'm looking for the ink and paper traders who are usually here at the end of their visits. The ones your clan has been buying ink from." We what?
"I might have, can you describe them for me?" The man described detail for detail exactly how his brother and his rival were dressed in disguises today.
"I think I saw them leave together before you arrived. Was it important?"
"Ah darn. The wife wanted me to extend an offering of lunch with them tomorrow to congratulate them on their engagement. The two had plans to propose to each other without the other knowing."
"How did you know that?"
"Oh everyone here knows the love birds. They are always kind to the merchants and play with the children. They've been coming here for years now."
"They were herr for the festival?"
"Of course! They come to every celebration we hold. You should see them competing to win the other a prize or show a trinket they felt the other would enjoy. Sharing treats and the lot. Ah, the first time I saw them hold hands, both of their faces were beat red!" The man chuckled fondly. "It reminded me of when I was young and in love. But, if they've left, it'd be best if I went to go back to the misses before she buys the extra food." The man nodded his head and walked off.
The fan in Izuna's pocket felt like lead as he saw a violent shake of trees in the distance as it reverberated as a small rumble near him.
What have I done?!
