Naruto heaved a sigh of defeat as he watched his plastic horns slightly droop to the left.
"I guess there is no fixing them." he said as he turned to the side, looking at the mirror. It was just a few hours before the 'trick or treaters' came pouring into the streets, and Naruto wanted to make sure he was prepared.
"C'mon dobe, don't you think you're trying a little too hard to impress some five year olds?"
Naruto turned to the voice of his boyfriend, who was wearing the outfit matching his. They were the devil and priest from a popular manhwa. It took a sacrifice to god and a couple hours begging to get sasuke on board with the idea, but hey, naruto couldn't complain now.
"You have the simple costume," naruto whined, "cut me some slack."
Sasuke rolled his eyes at naruto's antics. "Aren't you the one who begged and pleaded with me to wear the matching costume? This is your problem."Sasuke twirled the fake gun around his finger, seemingly bored. "I don't see why we need to celebrate halloween every year."
A dramatic gasp escaped Naruto's lips."This is important sas! Every year we are the most popular house on the block, hell in the entire complex! We have the best decorations too!" he said as he waved towards the front of the house. It was true, Naruto did have the habit of going above and beyond for holidays. "What could be better than that?"
Annoyance was written all along Sasuke's face."I could think of a few things." sasuke murmured to himself as he went upstairs.
With a huff, the blonde turned back to furiously fixing his horns, cursing at them to stay put. "I don't see why that bastard hates holidays so much..."
Finally! Naruto triumphantly smiled at the now straight horns on his head. He waltzed over to his cupboard which held mountains of candy. Careful to not break any bars he carried each pack like a baby, filling the bowls to the brim and then stuffing them into the fridge.
"Sasuke, I need you to come and help me!" no response was given.
"Sasuke get your ass down here!"
There was still no response. Silence filled their comfy home as another of Naruto's calls went unanswered. Now beginning to worry, Naruto called out again, yet in a gentler tone. "Sasuke?"
He cautiously began to walk up the stairs, checking the loft area for his lover.
"Ok sas, this isn't funny. Where are you?" he opened his bedroom door which he had sworn he left open. "Sas?"
Sure enough, huddled in the bed was sasuke, awake and ignoring naruto. "Really teme? I've been calling you non-stop." he folded his arms and put a scowl on his face, which turned into confusion due to the lack of insults that are usually hurled at him.
"Hey, are you ok?"
Sasuke dramatically turned towards Naruto and simply stared at him.
"Trick or treaters are coming soon, so it would be nice if you answered me, y'know." Naruto pressed.
"Then go to your precious fucking trick or whatevers and leave me alone."
To say Naruto was pissed was an understatement. Sasuke had been acting like a dick all week and it's been tiresome.
"Why are you acting like this?" Naruto asked, "You've been like this all week for no reason!"
Sasuke sat up with a glare so intense it could kill. "Every year. You do this same shit every year."
"What do I do every year?" Naruto practically growled.
"Every year, especially now, you completely neglect me and turn selfish" sasuke got out of the bed and stood in front of naruto. "Every damn year, for a whole week, you focus on what you want and what these little kids want. Who gives a shit?"
Naruto went quiet at the words sasuke was saying. "You...you're mad...because you want attention?" he deadpanned.
Sasuke threw his arm up in frustration. "I know it sounds stupid, but you do it so often to where i'm almost used to it. Naruto, you're the hokage, not these little kids' best friend, so stop trying to act like you are!"
Naruto shook his head and turned to walk out the room. "This is stupid." the doorbell could be heard ringing, "i've got some candy to give out. He shut the door behind him, leaving sasuke alone in his anger and sadness.

Hours passed by and sasuke still didn't come downstairs. The last few children passed through with their parents and Naruto's bowl was nearly empty, or rather his fifth bowl was nearly empty. Closing the door, Naruto yawned and stretched. The clock read 11:30 pm. Damn, he thought to himself, it's been a long night.
He stared up the stairs and at his bedroom door, now once again closed. With a heavy sigh he treaded up the stairs and opened the door. Much to his surprise, sasuke was still up, reading a book while in his robe. Naruto silently maneuvered around the room, grabbed his robe to take a shower, not noticing sasuke carefully eyeing him.

It's not like sasuke didn't like that naruto was excited about the holidays, who isn't? But every time, they barely get to spend time together due to Naruto wanting to please the very people that hated him so much. It just didn't make any sense to him.
The raven tried his best to bite his tongue as he saw Naruto enter and leave the room. Sighing, he took his glasses off and sat them on the nightstand. He laid down and closed his eyes. He didn't open them again until he felt a familiar weight on the other side of the bed.
Neither one of them dared to speak, as if they were too scared to say a word.
"So," sasuke began, "how'd it go?"
Naruto stared blankly at the ceiling. "Fine."
Sasuke cringed at the one word answer he was given. "Um, ok...goodnight I guess." he switched off the lamp and they were shrouded in darkness. Sasuke waited for Naruto to wrap his arm around him like he usually did, but it never happened.
Hours seemed to pass and neither could seem to be able to sleep. Sasuke looked at the clock and nearly choked on his spit when it read 12:25. Aggravated, he sat up and turned the lamp on.
"The hell sasuke? Can you turn that off please?" Naruto grumbled.
"Oh shut up, it's not like you were sleeping either."
"Fair point."
Naruto sat up in bed as well. "Look," he started, but sasuke interrupted him.
"There's no need to say anything." he turned towards naruto with a look of sorrow, "i was being selfish and didn't even consider how you felt about the whole situation."
Naruto seemed to be choosing his next words carefully. "No, it's my fault." he turned to face sasuke, "i was so happy because this is the one time that people looked at me with a smile. Whether it was real or not, I enjoyed not hearing parents scold their children for being near me." he began playing with his hands as he spoke. "I came to realize that people only respect my position as hokage and their so-called savior, but if those things never had happened..." Naruto ran his hand through his hair, clearly in some sort of stress, "if those things never happened I would be right back where I started. Alone and a complete loser." Naruto slid his hand over to where Sasuke's was resting. If the other had any objections, he didn't show. "I'm sorry I ignored you."
Sasuke leaned over and placed a kiss on naruto's lips. "It's ok... i guess i just don't like the feeling of loneliness"
Naruto went back in for a light kiss. "Y'know," he said against sasuke's lips "i think i just figured out what's better than candy and costumes."
Sasuke smiled and leaned in closer to naruto. "What would that be?"
Naruto placed another kiss on sasuke's lips, which turned heavy as he lifted sasuke onto his lap, tugging him closer not wanting any space between them.
They only parted after they felt the need for air, a string of saliva connecting their lips, heavily panting.
"Later," sasuke whispered, "let's continue later."
A pout formed on Naruto's lips, clearly not happy with this decision.
"You're going to need all the energy in the world and so will I if we want to...properly apologize." Sasuke explained as he trailed a finger down Naruto's broad chest.
Naruto rolled his eyes and laid down again, this time with sasuke in his arms. "Fine," he said as he closed his eyes. "Better keep that promise."
He watched as Sasuke turned off the lamp, and leaned to give naruto a little peck, finally laying down into naruto's arms once again.
Yup, this is definitely better than candy...
