The village or the clan

Sometimes when he reports to the Hokage on the Uchiha's actions, he finds himself questioning what he was going. The clan loved him. Even if a lot of times they were all awkward in expressing their love, he knew that if he said just one complaint the clan would be ready to go to war for him. But they were also cruel.

Their love was unrelenting and so were their other emotions. When they decided to hate the village just as it hated them, he knew in his heart that things would probably never be the same again. [Even if there is a small hope in his heart at times.] He knows what his decision will be when the worst comes. He also knows that Itachi will choose to drown with him in their useless struggle when the worst comes.

But these days, whenever the thoughts of his clan dying haunt his mind, his heart hurts so much when he thinks of her dying because he was too weak. He was too little in front of these old men obsessed with pride and power.

He wondered if Itachi felt the same as him.

Shisui then frowned as he thought about that. Itachi is not feeling the same as him, he concluded. Itachi did not want for anyone to die but that did not make him any else cruel. He was someone who would not hesitate to do whatever he felt was the right thing. Itachi's world was in black and white. But, in his world he also did not concretely define people as black and white. Itachi had first termed the Uchiha as 'White' but now, he was slowly degrading the clan to 'Black'. He was still very attached to the clan but, he would not hesitate to kill them now. He would feel incredible pain but, according to him, the clan was now wrong and needed to be removed.

Sighing, he ran a through his messy hair and jumped up to the rooftops to avoid the stares of the civilians. He had wanted to roam around the shopping districts but with how everyone would always stare at him he had decided to disguise himself the next time he did so.

He found himself staring at Hisako's house soon after. He could still smell the delicious aroma of the food so it was likely that she was still awake.

He knew that she would be happy to see him. He should stop hesitating so much. Huffing, he knocked on the door and waited. He focused his thoughts on the sound of her footsteps instead of anything else.

"Shisui?"

He smiled a bit at her surprise at seeing him in front of her door. He was usually not one to visit her at night so her surprise was expected. He felt himself relax unintentionally at her welcoming smile and followed her in the familiar house. He wondered if they could stay here when they get married. He didn't like going back to his father's house. She would probably question him if he says that.

"Get changed. I'll get you a blanket and some warm milk."

He blinked in surprise before nodding along. A warm blanket and milk sounded nice. Although he would rather have coffee, but he doubted that Hisako would let him drink that at night. She was always careful with their health, even when they were little. He was glad that she never changed.

His lips straightened into a line as he mind drifted back to the 'situation' in the village.

"I like this."

"Me too."

They were both sitting in the living room covered in blankets. Hisako had chosen to read some novels while Shisui had simply chosen to lay down on the couch after he finished drinking his warmed and sweetened milk.

"If I... If I ever had to choose between the world and you. I would forsake the world."

Hisako looked at him as if he had gone crazy.
