Starting a business
Her next few days were busy. She had to attend lessons with an acquaintance of Mikoto for learning how the accounts worked in this world. They were not much different from her own world but since she had not studied them in such detail she was often found to have many doubts in the subject. She did not particularly need to study the workings of a business but it was interesting to observe the civilians and ninja tastes in different things.
The business environment here was much different than what she had studied in her last life.
"Hisako?"
Her eyes widened in surprise at seeing Shisui at the clan head's house. He looked like he hadn't slept in days, if not months. Her worries must have shown through as Shisui was quick to divert her attention to something else. She had not commented on it and simply went along with whatever he was saying. This was not the place to talk about personal things.
"Oh right. I have something for you, Shi-chan."
He pouted at the nickname she had given to him, to which she just chuckled and poked his nose while teasing him more. She did not comment on the slight blush he had when she got a bit close to him to poke him again.
Shisui did not expect for her to pull out an engraved kunai which seemed to have been the most expensive weapon he had ever seen. She motioned for him to hold it and he blinked at her once before taking it in hands. His eyes took in the blade's sharp edges and noticed how it seemed to almost fit him perfectly. He gulped once when he felt the blade to be similar to the short sword he had received from her. He could feel his smile widening and watched from the corner of his eyes as Hisako stared at him with some sort of affection in her eyes.
"How do you get these expertly made weapons?"
He raised an eyebrow at her questioningly. She merely shrugged in response and smirked at him before he sighed and went back to playing with his new toy.
There was no need to say thanks to her. Hisako had always thought of the word as useless between them as they would always know that they would be grateful to each other. Shisui had accepted it readily as a child and the habits from then had continued till now. In a way, it was nostalgic to the both of them.
But these weapons were also a reminder to him to always come back alive. They were Hisako's way to tell him to be come back home safely. He didn't think that she wouldn't say it to his face but rather have it engraved in the weapons but, he was grateful all the same. He would always come back to her. For he was sure she would hunt down his soul in the afterlife if he didn't.
"Ah. I haven't told you yet, have I? I'm restarting father's business."
He was surprised at that decision. She never liked to do much work so he had assumed she would just pick a small job which would allow her to laze around. Restarting a business was certainly not what he had imagined her to do. She looked as though she had planned quiet a bit about it already though so he supposed that she would be fine handling it. He listened attentively as she explained her plan and was very surprised that he never actually knew how much effort and brainstorming one had to do to run a successful business. There were many legal processes, political influences and even taking care of tastes of both ninja and civilian which one had to keep in mind to have a successful business.
Perhaps he should pay more attention to things like these as well. From what he had realized Itachi and him needed political power, and they both had no idea how to go about getting it. They had both fought on battlefields with weapons and not words and pens.
"It's getting late. We should leave."
"You're right."
It was later when Shisui was heading to his house that he realized that he had been played by Hisako. She had managed to always twist the conversation in a way which would make him distracted from asking her why she was at the clan head's house. Her gift had also been a distraction, albeit a good one.
Hisako sighed and lightly massaged her shoulders to reduce the stiffening which she was experiencing from doing paperwork all day. Shisui had not been going on a mission for a few days since they met at the clan head's house and while she met with him quite often, a majority of a her time was still spent on sitting a table to fill out the number of documents which would be required of her to start her business.
Fugaku, the clan head, had somewhat taken care of the businesses which her father had invested in and she had received her share of the profit. She would have to pay them a visit soon since it might be possible for her to be driven out forcefully if she did not participate in the business activities entirely.
For her own business, she had decided to start out with the trading business within konoha. The problem was to figure out a 'basic product' for her business and somehow accumulate a large enough capital to start her business off. She would also need to look into other things but for now, these two were her biggest problems. Her grandfather, from what she had gathered from his journals, had dealt in fuinjutsu trades and when he had gotten enough money from that, he bought lands big enough to hire cultivators to grow crop and traded that across Konoha.
That was when Uzushiogakure was still thriving. Besides that, her father was an idiot and had sold off all of grandfather's lands. She didn't have any knowledge of fuinjutsu or anything of the sort to make enough money to actually start off the business.
Her father's business started off with selling grandfather's lands. He had gotten enough money from that to trade from Suna. It's skilled craftsmen were very popular in Konoha but, he had died before the business could actually bloom. There were no real connections for her to use from Sunagakure. She did have money she inherited from her father, and mother, but it won't be enough to take a big step like trading with another hidden ninja village. And if she were to wait for the money from the business investments then she would be wasting too much time.
What did she have in the right quantity which she could use to earn money?
She decided that thinking while sitting on a desk all day isn't going to solve her problem so she decided to walk around her house. Perhaps she will get some sort of idea.
