Fated

Temari knew that Matsuri has still not moved on from him, Who the fuck already moved on within a week? She thinks that Matsuri only sees Shira as her escape from rejection, so why not steal the one who rejected her, right? By the time she created her revenge plan, she knows she already won.

“……….You’re going to pretend to be my boyfriend”

She looked at him waiting for an answer. His face was now in disgust which she thinks it was typical since she felt an ick too while creating her little revenge plan.

“I don’t think that’s possible. No!” He replied

“Well, you see Nara. I don’t really like being in here honestly, I just need to execute my plan and that plan includes you” She points her fingers at his chest “Too bad, if you declined this offer, you’ll probably see me here for a long time. Do you like that? Seeing me every day?”

“And why would I like that? Seeing you here every day felt like I’m in hell.”

“So, do you agree with my plan? I’m not a marketing head for nothing. I can persuade you until you say yes to my proposal”

“Why are you picking me as your fake boyfriend anyways? You can get anyone in here”

“It needs you specifically. Like what I said, I need you in my plan”

“Can you tell me the reason?”

“Not now, I’ll tell you eventually”

Shikamaru squeezed his eyes shut and leaned his head on the chair, thinking if he would agree with her proposal or not. Temari rolled her eyes and checked her watch.

“I’m waiting Nara”

He opened his eyes and stared at her with a threatening aura “I need you out in here after two months!”

“I can give you that in just one month” She raised her eyebrow while smiling at him, she felt like a winner, as always.

“And you’re not going to ask me to do some weird stuff!”

“Yes sir, what else?”

“We can start tomorrow. I’m going home, I cannot handle the stress in here” He stands up from his seat and starts collecting his stuff, and placed it in his bag.

“Deal!” Temari jumps from her seat and giggled, leaving his spot.

The next day, Shikamaru was trying to hide from Temari. He did not want any of the fake relationship things but the reward was good. Temari found him at the pantry, he was about to run away when she blocked him at the door.

“Ah-Ah, where are you going? Are you trying to hide from me?” She said while swaying her fingers.

“What? You’re the last person I wanted to see. So, move”

“Have you forgotten the deal? You little tw—” Temari was about to finish her sentence when she saw Matsuri walk inside the pantry. Matsuri glanced at them and Temari could see the sadness in her eyes when she gazed at Shikamaru. A smile started to curved on her lips, this is her queue.

“Hold my hand” She commands

“What!?” He yelled

“I said, hold my fucking hand!” She whispered but all her words were in a hard tone.

“Not here! Everyone will see it!” He whispered while glancing at all the people in the pantry.

“That’s the goal, you idiot!”

Shikamaru mumbled as he reached for her hand. The moment their hands touched they both felt a sharp electric shock in their palms. Both of them shrieked, Shikamaru looked at her in shock, he swears this is the same electric shock he felt six years ago. Temari was surprised, she could still feel the electricity in her bones and skin. Everyone in the pantry was now looking at them.

“What was that!?” Temari said

“Come here” Shikamaru grabbed her coat and pulled her outside, away from the crowd. They entered one of the vacant meeting rooms near the pantry. Shikamaru starts sweating, she felt it? Temari felt it? I knew I'm not crazy. He said to himself.

“You felt that, right? The electricity thing?” He asked, he wanted to make sure that she really felt it.

“Yeah, what the hell was that?”

“Exactly! I thought I was the only one who felt that”

“Hold my hand, let’s try it again” She extends her arms at him. His face was a little confused, maybe he was still worried they might experience another shock when they touched hands. So, Temari grabbed his hands and squished them, no electric shock was felt after their second touch. Shikamaru just stands there, still confused about what happened. Temari starts opening her fingers so their hands could intertwine and Shikamaru lets her.

“See? Nothing happened. So now, we’re going back to the pantry and start making a scene. Okay?”

“Yeah, whatever. This is such a drag”

Temari pulled him into the pantry, everyone looked at them and their faces were all surprised. Naruto, Neji, and Sai were laughing in the corner, pointing at him while mumbling words and Shikamaru knows they were mocking him. This is just going for a month, keep your fucking sanity Shikamaru. He said to himself.

Temari giggled and glanced at Matsuri who now looked surprised, her jaw dropped to the floor while the noodles in her chopstick halted midway. She pulled him near the coffee dispenser and leaned on the wall. She needs to make sure that Matsuri can see it clearly and that Shikamaru just followed whatever she does.

“Come on, act like you’re whispering something to my ear. Say something dirty”

“What is this now woman!?” He whispered but with an angry tone

“I swear this is the last one for today, Come on!”

Shikamaru leaned closer to her cheeks and whispered something “You’re a crazy bitch!”

Temari acted like she was giggling after he whispered. She glanced at Matsuri who was now looking like she was about to cry, she left the pantry immediately with her cup noodles in hand. Temari returns her gaze to him, still wearing a smile on her face “Job well done Nara. Let’s have another one tomorrow, alright”

That night, Temari prepared herself to sleep after the music just stopped in her head. Shikamaru lay in his bed at the same time. They both closed their eyes and started to reach their dream state.

Temari felt the cold grass on her back, she was wearing white attire, and her eyes were looking at the clouds. She moved her head to the left and saw a man lying beside her, it was all hazy and unrecognized.

She flickers her eyes, trying to clear her vision but still, it was hazy. Her heart started beating faster when she gazed at the man again and she felt something familiar like she knows him for a long time. Before everything turned black, she heard him saying something.

….I’ll forever find you, forever

It was the sweetest voice she heard in her life.

In his dream, Shikamaru felt his hand trying to reach something, his face was numb and cold. He looked in front and saw the sky, it was in perfect blue. The noise started to fill his ears, there was crying, shouting, and panicking. His head moved to his right and saw a woman wearing white. It was all hazy and could not recognize what he was seeing. Suddenly he heard her saying something.

….Find me in the afterlife

All of the emotions just burst into his heart. Pain, sadness, regret, and love.

Then, they both woke up with tears falling from their eyes.
