Chapter 1
Sakura swallows around the lump in her throat, gazing down at the fuinjutsu array she and Kakashi stood on. The silence was thick and heavy between the two, the deaths of Naruto and Sasuke weighing on them like a boulder. What Sakura was staring at, was their last resort. It wasn't meant to be her and Kakashi.
And yet.
Here they are.
"Sensei," Her voice was horse and thick, "Are you sure this will work?"
She knew it didn't matter if it worked or not. They would try it anyways, there was nothing else they could do. All their friends and teammates were already ash. Grief and desperation were heavy on both their tongues.
There was a loud roar that shook the cave they stood in. They had to go and had to go now.
"Only one way to find out, right?" Kakashi's face was tired. There were new wrinkles around his eyes, the stress of war having a heavier toll on him. Still, he smiled sadly for her.
Sakura activated her Yin seal, thick black lines wrapping across her skin. Kakashi reaches for her and she watches as they spread to him too. Sakura gives him a wobbly smile.
"See you, Kakashi-sensei." She closes her eyes to grin at him, despite their situation, cautious hope filled both of them. Kakashi clenched his jaw, and silently promised himself it would be better. He, would be better this time.
The array lit up bright white, and they were no more.
"See you later, Sakura."
