Day 5
DAY 5 February 17th, sacrifice / will of fire / pure lands
The last thing he remembers is the pain of his entire being drifting into numbness and the world growing dark.
The next, there is still darkness but glittering lights twinkle around.
"Senju Tobirama, second son of Senju Butsuma and Hatake Hitomi." He looked around for a voice until a large figure, one he knew materialized.
"Shinigami." He whispered.
"Yes, you have played with things from my realm, taking them from where i put them far more times than I would ever allow."
"Shinigami-sama I-"
"Silence!" He obeyed.
"Now then, under normal circumstances I would burn your sould, torture it for your crimes, strip it from the wheel."
Even though Tobirama knew that his fate once dead would be worse than death itself, he never imagined that. He had made peace with the crimes against humanity he made but the shinigami forgets nothing.
"This is where you try to plead for mercy."
"I will not."
"Oh? you think you can somehow escape my wrath in death for your doings in life?"
"I did not say that Shinigami-sama. I will not beg for mercy for I am undeserving of it. I desecrated graves and destroyed countless lives in my 37 years of life. I did horrible, despicable, unimaginable to most, types of things for the sake of discovery, science and misplaced senses of duty and love. Mercy is not for people like me, I know what I am and why the name Demon stuck with me."
"Hmm. You're a strange one, Senju Tobirama."
"As many have told me before Shingami-sama."
"Cocky yet humble, fearsome yet afraid, libraries of knowledge yet knows very little, oceans of hope yet full of cinical views, raised in public hatred yet died with a secret love."
Tobirama stayed silent, he knew there was nothing he could hide or do, the shinigami played no games like his enemies in life. No silver tongue can escape this.
"An anomaly misunderstood till his last breath. Now then Senju Tobirama, if you did have a say in the matter, what would you like done with your soul?"
"My brothers and my mother. To see them one last time. I promised them that at least."
"You think yourself deserving of that?"
"No, but if I had a choice I'd give myself that."
"Always giving yet so very selfish."
"Lines I learned to walk with each breath."
"I like you Senju Tobirama. You are a breath of fresh air, so to say, after centuries of people begging for more than they're worth, trying to convince me their truths are lies and lies are truths."
Tobirama chose to say nothing.
Now then, as I said before, if this were a normal situation, you'd be punished. But, powers higher than even I have deemed it necessary that your soul stays whole. So count your blessings Senju Tobirama, for you shall get your wish with no consequences."
Then the space around him was white and he was walking forward, more and more colors coming into vision as he got closer till the point where he could feel water on his feet as the tide went in and out on a warm sandy beach, standing there all the people he loved in life and now can be together again in death. There wasn't a dry eye to be found as the four sons of Hatake Hitomi and Senju Butsuma were together once more, the former of the parents being dragged in for a hug by her remaining son.
The latter of the parents looked on in sorrow and regret, his face showing fear and rejection. Itama had led him over and explained how Butsuma had been forced to live through the pain he inflicted on his children as a punishment when he died. And had made peace with the others since. Tobirama was hesitant but reached a hand out for a handshake as a small sign of understanding. (He never really could say no to Itama, why would he start now?)
