Day 3
DAY 3 February 15th, rōnin / teacher / hokage
"But sensei-!"
"Kagami, just because Hiruzen has secured a contract with the Monkeys and Apes, does not mean I now have to let you sign with my Snow Leopards." Plus that is supposed to be your gift for making Chuunin after the finals next month.
Hashirama would be a fool to not promote you if you lost anyway. It's not like each of my team hasn't show proficiency enough to rank up this year, especially since they are of age now and have worked hard for it. They should all easily become Jounin when they hit 18.
Kagami pouted, Hiruzen had made Chuunin during the last exams, along with Koharu and Homura (all of their birthdays being just before the exam). Leaving this exam for Torifu, Danzo, and the sad 16 year old before him. (All whose birthdays were after the last one but before this)
"How about instead, I show you how to make Dragon out of fire, ne?"
The teen perked up significantly at the option given.
"But that's your signature jutsu! You wouldn't even show Danzo it!"
"Danzo doesn't have the same control over his element like you do. Unless, you don't want me to show it to you?" He crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow then chuckled as the teen sputtered his way to an apology.
He patted the raven hair and gestured for them to sit down the shade of the trees deep in the heart of Senju district in one of hisprivate training grounds that only his team could enter.
"Now, the reason no one can copy this correctly, and I've seen Madara and Izuna try is that I shortened the hand signs needed and added ones that actually do nothing at all."
"What?" Tobirama easily grinned as the realization hit his pupil.
"You added unnecessary hand signs? How? Doesn't using any others affect the outcome of the jutsu and the chakra that is used?"
"Ah, so you have been paying attention."
"Sensei!" He chuckled again.
"While you are indeed correct, I can control my element to the point that I can restrict the type of chakra I put into my hands. Rest assured though, I will show you all of the signs needed and help you work on shrinking them down before you go against Danzo. He has gone to Touka for help mastering his Doton so be prepared for that."
"So shouldn't Izuna-shisou be here to help? Suiton is your mastery."
"Ah, Suiton is my preferred element. Who ever said it was the only one I mastered?" With the completion of the sentence, Tobirama made a little water dragon that swirled around Kagami's head before dissipating into droplets into the ground. From that spot a dirt one flew up and did a few flips in the air before the dirt fell off to leave only a thinly veiled breeze that swirled like a tornado until it glowed like an ember, leaving only a small fire dragon to dissipate into miniscule embers over the bucket of water nearby.
Kagami's eyes were huge and red and not for a second did he fear them.
"Teach me everything!" Was said in awe.
A month later, the looks on both Madara and Izuna's faces as Kagami not only used a gravity seal to pin Danzo down, but had a giant fiery dragon twisting in anticipation behind him, daring the Shimura heir to try anything else.
Kagami had promised he would allow Danzo to show his skills off for a while, they were still friends after all and this was not a match with intent to kill. And anyone who had shown that intent at all would have been wrapped up in vines and water faster than they could blink. All the contestants from each village had been warned security measures were in place - just not what they were.
"What thefuckSenju?!" Madara cried in exasperated fury from across the box they sat in with the other sensei's from various villages. (Madara didn't technically have a team, but he had helped him enough with his to be considered their other sensei. Izuna had been the proctor for the first portion and just enjoyed annoying him whenever he could.
"What? You knew I was teaching all of them sealing. Not my fault he went to Mito-hime for help as well."
"Senju!" And if Tobirama showed too much teeth in his smile to Madara for knowing exactly what Madara was referring to… well it only helped remind the other villages just who they were standing with.
