Sasuke lit the fire as they settle to end the day of their training.
It all seemed uneasy for Boruto since he left Konoha with the legendary Uchiha. Everyone had forgot about him. His identity and status as the son of Uzumaki Naruto, the hokage. In this new life chapter he lives on, he's not the so-called 'son of the 7th lord' or the 'Boruto Uzumaki' he was back then. Instead, he was regarded as to the murderer of Lord Seventh and his lady.
How petty was that for him huh? To be accused of actions he never did. He thought about konoha, his friends, and Hima. It would be long before he'll return and fix whatever was broken.
But what Boruto thought about now was Sasuke Uchiha. He knew that his father and Sasuke had a very strong, unaltered bond. Why must he, the very best friend of his father, help him. The accused murderer? It plagued his mind since Sasuke chose to help him.
It was all because of Sarada, wasn't it?
But Boruto also had one living proof. The headband. That headband. The headband that symbolized the Seventh's and the Uchiha's bond. Believe it, the very headband itself would be enough too for Sasuke to believe him.
"Why did you choose to help me? Aren't I the murderer of seventh? Your best friend?" Boruto asked, though doubting. One wrong word and he'd be dead gone, considering that Sasuke's Boruto memories are altered with a face that's not his.
"Don't you want me to help you?" Sasuke returned.
"It just.. in your.. in your perspective, I had killed your friend, the hokage... Anyone else's memories in konoha were altered. I'm thought of as the murderer, the criminal by konoha's people itself. But what more about you? You're his best friend..."
"I trust my daughter. The Uchiha eye's background has a very depth that not everyone understands. Her emotions so strong screamed help. Nobody other than the Uchihas get each other. Plus, you have the headband."
"But I was assumed of killing him! Your memories also says so! Who knows what, or where he is right now?" Boruto bursted. How can Sasuke be so calm even with the knowledge of the hokage dying? What about konoha? Boruto should actually be thankful that he has a helping hand by his side. But this questions were created in his mind as if it meant to be asked.
Sasuke smiled.
"Naruto will never die in a presence not near mine."
"H-Huh?"
"I know.. and if I were to sum everything up, it will take the whole day to say so. Besides, you need to be up early for training tomorrow."
"Wait, old man. You believe that he isn't dead yet? How so?"
The wind blowed hard, but this time made the fire weak, closely burnt out.
"He wont die as long as I live. He's just.. away, but I'll find him." Sasuke looked down.
"How are you so sure, old man? No one knows where he is...."
"Look, kid. I'm here existing to give you hope for your future. And yet you keep asking questions who's answers may be shit."
"I'm asking seriously! I won't sleep if you won't tell!"
"Your just like him.. a desperate kid."
Boruto just stared
"...I had already answered it. His presence is here, and his wind still blows. With that, he is still alive."
...
"You'll be strong and you'll help me save him. Then he can die peacefully after we save him. Without leaving the burden he promised to me. He won't die not being by my side." Sasuke stated.
"Hey old man, isn't that kinda weird to hear?"
"Nothing's wrong at all. You just need that air head of yours to be laid on the tent. Get some sleep. I'll guard till its safe."
Boruto followed the order and went to the tent. As he did so, he glanced at the man on his back and he catched a glimpse of drops forming on the man's eye.
Boruto lied on his tent ground and thought.
'The day after today will be more different.'
