Silco Melts your Worry (and your heart)
Cold.
That’s all you could really think about. The air that nipped at your skin even from under the three thick comforters you kept on your bed, the way you thought you could feel your bones rattling under your skin.
Silco was out late again tonight, off on whatever business being the big boss-man got him into. You never paid too much attention to what he got up to most days, you just hoped he’d make his way home at night.
And he always did.
Which was why you were sure some of your shivering wasn’t just that it was freezing, but that it was late enough into the night you’d began to worry. It wasn’t like he was a very punctual man anyway, something had just set a rock in your stomach tonight specifically, and it wouldn’t go away.
That was, until the soft patter of his boots echoed down the hallway straight to the bedroom door, subtle hints of his strong tobacco wafting in with the drafts that went through your shared apartment.
Almost forgetting how cold you’d been, you wrestled your way out of your blankets to meet him at the door. The hardwood floor was cold underneath your feet, sending a shiver up your spine as you practically leapt towards the door. Your hand wrapped around the handle and ripped it open before Silco could get his hand out of his pocket. The two of you stared at each other wide eyed for a moment, him shocked, and you like you’d snorted a line of crack before opening the door.
Before he could even open his mouth now, you had sprung on him like a flea. You wrapped your arms around his thin waist, burying your face against his chest with a heavy sigh.
There had been reason to worry, you quickly noticed. The way he smelt heavily of soot and ash, the cut on his cheekbone. Just the fact his hair was out of place could have told you enough. As the small shock slowly subsided in him, Silco wrapped his arms gently around your back, savoring just holding you close for just a moment.
“Why are you still up, my dear?” He asked softly, his voice a touch more gruff than usual. Something only you would take enough care to notice. One of his hands traced to the nape of your neck, lacing his fingers through soft strands of hair there.
A small hum sounded from your lips as you shrugged, your body already being overcome by small trembles in the chilled air. “Jus’ cold… Worried ‘bout you.” You mumbled, lips moving slowly where your face now resided against his neck. Until his fingers on his free hand ran down the thin fabric of your shirt, you didn’t think about the fact you’d probably be warmer if you weren’t wearing just skimpy shorts and thin tank top.
“You don’t have to worry about me, love. I’ll always come home to you.” The soft, sweet side of the man always surprised you a little bit, even with how long you’d been together. “Now get yourself back in bed, dear. It’s too cold for you to be out.” His voice was almost a whisper against your ear as his hand finally settled on your hip.
You shook your head before he’d even stopped talking, a soft whine leaving your lips as you held onto him tighter. “Nuh uh… Want to hold you.” You whispered, your grip on him impossibly tight. While he’d told you not to worry, and you didn’t even know what happened, you couldn’t help the emotions that flooded your brain.
“Darling, I stink.” Silco chuckled softly. “Let me take a-”
“Can clean the sheets later.” You almost growled, biting at his collarbone to emphasize your point. “Want to cuddle. Keep you safe.” You couldn’t help the smile on your lips when you said it, knowing there wouldn’t be much you could do in any scenario that lead to him being in danger. But it was nice to think so sometimes, even if jokingly.
“You are so, so stubborn.” Silco teased, ignoring the heat that your bite sent through his body. “I won’t argue this one time, dear. You deserve a win this once. But can I at least get inside the bedroom?”
Giggling a little with a small nod, you finally peeled your body away from his and let him walk into your shared room. Though not without a quick smack to his ass that earned you a quick glare and a disapproving shake of his head.
Too happy to really care, you bounded back over to the bed and slipped back under the covers. You unfolded the blankets on his side to let him slide in once he’d undressed, unable to help the quiet giggles you got as he grumbled to himself about being dirty.
“You laugh now, but when you wake up smelling like ash and sweat, don’t get mad at me.” Silco shook his head again as he finally slipped into bed next to you, wrapping an arm around your waist to pull your chest flush to his. Your leg hooked up and over his hip as your arms snaked back around him, fingers rubbing slowly against the muscles in his back.
“Oh I’ll live. Smell fine to me.” Another smile took over your lips as you pressed your nose back against his neck, making it a point to take in a deep breath. There was something about the smell of a man after a long day at work, something you found intoxicating. “What happened tonight?” You eventually asked as you pulled away to look up at him. Your hands had slid up to rest on both of his cheeks, one of your thumbs rubbing gently against the cut on his cheek, the other tracing the deep lines of his scar.
Gripping one of your hands softly, Silco pressed a kiss to your palm before nuzzling his cheek back into it, allowing his eyes to drift shut for a moment in your presence. “There was a fire at one of the storage facilities. Something exploded and the debris hit me in the face. Nothing to worry about.” Silco hardly had to say much to calm your nerves. Just hearing his voice was usually good enough, which was hard when he wasn’t home or in his office for hours some days.
Did you have attachment and abandonment issues? Yes. Did he care? Not one bit.
“I try not to worry ‘bout you too much, Silly…” You mumbled, hiding your face back against his chest. “You just… Have such a scary job, ‘s hard not to.” Aaaand, the emotions came back like a truck. You hoped he would think the small shaking in your shoulders and little sniffles would be from the cold, but you also knew he knew you better than that, and the wet feeling against his chest definitely wasn’t because it was cold either.
“Oh, baby.” He whispered, bringing a hand up to rest on the back of your head as he left a kiss on your forehead. “I know you worry, dear. I try not to be out too long most days. I worry about you too. More than anything.” A shaky breath left your lips as you just hugged him tighter, letting his thumb wipe away your tears before he gripped your chin to tilt your face to his. Your big, wet eyes always tore a little part of his heart, hating to see you sad about anything.
“‘M sorry for c-cryin’…” You blubbered, locking your blurry sight onto his eyes. The way he looked at you always calmed you down, knowing how much his features softened as he ended his day beside you. “I love you, Silly.” You added quietly.
“No need to apologize. I love you too, my dear.” Leaning down, the male pushed a soft kiss to your lips, letting you take a few deep breaths before speaking again. “Get some sleep, love. I have quite the day planned for us tomorrow.”
Silco couldn’t stop the blush that ever so slightly dusted his cheeks at your sudden burst of excitement at that. Another small giggle leaving your lips.
“Goodnight, Sils.” You mumbled happily as you snuggled back down against his chest, rewrapping your arms around to his back. You’d quickly warmed up with him under the covers, and all worry had melted away.
“Goodnight, my sweet.”
