Team 7 was curious about who their new member for this mission was going to be. Kakashi seemed to be happier that he was coming along but didn't reveal anything about him other than the fact that he was known by most of hidden leaf village but many were known, he also revealed that the person was going to be helping in their training.
"Sensei, when is he going to get here?" asked Sakura.
"I didn't actually give him a time so he could be here anytime," said Kakashi with an eye smile.
"Sensei, you've been very vague about this person, why are you not telling us about him?" asked Sai.
"Why do I have to tell you when he's already here for the mission," said Kakashi with an eye smile.
"Yo," said a voice above them as they turned to find someone extremely familiar dressed in black pants and shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the leaf emblem on his shoulder, he was dressed in the usual green flack jacket, it was Naruto Uzumaki, the dead last of the Academy. However what shocked them more was where he was, On the downside of a tree branch.
"How is he doing that?" asked Sakura.
"He must have put glue on the bottom side, there's no way the dobe can actually stick to the bottom side of a tree branch," said Sasuke. However Kakashi and Sai both knew how to do this, it was one of the absolute basic things a shinobi learns.
"Nope," said Kakashi, confusing the both of them Naruto jumped down and walked over.
"Hey sempai, you needed me?" asked Naruto.
"idiot, you know it's illegal to pretend to be a chunin," screeched Haruno, Naruto covered his ears clearly annoyed with her voice.
"Sempai, a bit of help," said Naruto.
"Sakura, enough, you're hurting poor Naruto here and he's your superior, show some respect," said Kakashi annoyed.
"You have a very annoying voice, ever thought of weaponizing it?" asked Naruto, with curiousity to which Kakashi and Sai both held in laughter.
"Naruto!" shouted Sakura, attempting to punch the Uzumaki in his face, but the Anbu Black ops agent, simply substituted himself with another. Sakura couldn't believe her eyes as Naruto went up in smoke before the punch connected and there stood Sasuke. The punch connected with the infamous Uchiha who was sent flying into the tree.
"Sakura, you know it's rude to punch a comrade," said the Uzumaki behind her, as she rushed to help Sasuke who pushed her away.
"Sakura, enough!" said Kakashi, his voice changing into seriousness.
"Naruto, stop antagonizing them, Sakura, you are not allowed to attack Naruto, he is your superior," said the Hatake, as both looked sheepish.
"Can we get a move on?" asked the young Uzumaki, annoyed, as they walked towards the mission desk.
"Team 7 and Chunin Naruto Uzumaki, here for a mission," said Kakashi as they found the Hokage and Iruka waiting for them. Iruka looked shocked and confused while the Hokage smiled, it was time that Naruto learnt about the D-ranks, the ultimate joy of the mission desk to give to genin and watching them suffer.
"When did Naruto get a promotion?" asked Iruka, regaining some value of understanding.
"Some time ago, he was recommended for field promotion by his superiors," said Sarutobi.
"Why didn't you tell me Naruto?" asked Iruka, sad.
"They're keeping me busy, I don't even get free time or a day off!" said Naruto.
"Ah," said Iruka, understanding, it would most likely be wise to keep Naruto working.
"So what type of mission are you here for?" asked Iruka.
"A d-rank to start, Naruto can lead it," said Kakashi.
"What about Tracking the daimyo's cat down," said Sarutobi handing it to Naruto who looked it over for a few minutes.
"All right, umm, let's go," said Naruto, disappearing in smoke. A minute later, he returned.
"You guys don't know the body flicker, do you?" asked Naruto to which all three shook their heads.
"All right, come on," said Naruto walking them away, through the door.
"Lord Hokage, where has Naruto been all this time?" asked Iruka.
"That is for him to tell you, ask him and I am sure he'll answer," said Sarutobi, ominously.
-Time skip-
Team 7 came in having scratches except Naruto and Kakashi both of which were completely unharmed by the demon cat pet of the daimyo's wife. They all looked happy to see the cat being strangled by the Daimyo's wife.
"Now then, onto the next agenda, the next mission," said Sarutobi with a smile.
"Old man, how about a C-rank?" asked Naruto, with a smile.
"A c-rank? Naruto, you're a rookie, rookie do D-ranks, even if you are a chunin," said Iruka.
"But Iruka-sensei, I've already done 4 C-ranks," said Naruto, to which Iruka looked shocked and alarmed. Naruto had done more C-ranks than that but his other C-ranks were classified Anbu missions such as guarding the hospital or the wall, which Iruka didn't need to know.
"4 C-ranks? Lord Hokage, no rookie should do 4 C-ranks so early, why was this allowed?" asked Iruka.
"It was simple missions, Iruka, bandit elimination, Naruto's superior believed that Naruto must understand being a shinobi better so sent him on bandit elimination mission," said Sarutobi, softly, to which Iruka understood, Naruto was a loud mouth who needed to understand the life of a shinobi so to help him understand what is needed, of a shinobi one must do something many consider unforgivable.
Team 7 were a bit jealous and also a bit shocked, they were shocked that Naruto had killed people, they never expected that Naruto could do something like this and jealous that Naruto was allowed to go on C-ranks before them.
'That's so unfair, Naruto gets to do actual missions before us,' thought Sakura, annoyed.
'Even if the dobe is stronger, I'm still better than him,' thought Sasuke, with a roll of his eyes.
'Who is your superior, Uzumaki? Danzo-sama is curious about where you disappeared to, so let's see what information I can reap,' thought the undercover root agent.
"Alright," said Sarutobi.
"So what's the mission, guarding a merchant back to his village, simple negotiation for better import prices, bandit elimination?" asked Naruto, noting off the missions he knew are C-rank. Iruka was shocked at how much Naruto had matured, if he was still as bad as he was in the academy, he might have listed off some ridiculous missions.
"Guarding a bridge builder back to his village," said Sarutobi, to which Naruto looked calm.
"Okay," said Naruto, with a hand on his chin.
"Bring him in," said Sarutobi as an old man carrying a bottle, walked in.
"These brats are supposed to protect me?" asked the old man.
"Hey, who are you calling brats?" asked Naruto.
"Are you really a ninja, aren't you a bit short?" asked the drunk idiot. Naruto was angry, how dare this drunkyard call him short and doubted his claim to being a shinobi.
Before the old man could notice something hit the door behind him, right next to his face, turning around he found a kunai in the door. He noticed some hair drop, his hair and felt the temperature lower. There seemed to be an odd effect coming out of Naruto which Kakashi, Iruka, Sai and the Lord Hokage understood, killing intent.
"Care to repeat that, you stinky old geezar?" asked Naruto, to which Iruka smiled, even if Naruto had matured he was still the same.
"Nope, you brats are fine," said the old man sweating to which Naruto started to smile and dropped the killing intent.
"Don't worry, sir, I am Kakashi Hatake, a jounin and I will be protecting you and the boy that threw that kunai is Naruto Uzumaki, a chunin we'll be more than enough to protect you," said the Jounin, to which the old man looked a bit relieved but still scared.
"Thank you, I am Tazuna, a super bridge builder from the land of waves as you know, I need protection from bandits while I complete the wave," said Tazuna, but Naruto got the impression that the man wasn't being truthful, something about him rubbed Naruto the wrong way but he couldn't call the man out based on a gut feeling.
"Good, we'll be leaving in a few hours, go pack and get ready," said Kakashi, Naruto had already packed a few hours before he arrived so was going to go collect information on the wave. He disappeared in a body flicker technique.
"Does Naruto seem different to you all?" asked Sakura.
"He's more mature, yes," said Iruka.
"What was that feeling?" asked Sasuke.
"Killing intent or murderous intention, it can be used to terrify opponents and do what Naruto used it for," explained Kakashi.
"Ino is not going to believe this," said Sakura, running off.
"Hn," said Sasuke, and walked away. Sai went to report this to Danzo.
Sakura found Ino planting plants, she seemed to be enjoying herself.
"Ino-pig, did you know?" asked Sakura.
"know what?" asked Ino.
"Naruto got promoted to Chunin," said Sakura.
"When?" asked Ino.
"Turns out Naruto did some C-rank missions where he had to kill bandits and was deemed mature enough for the promotion," said Sakura, Ino was shocked, the deadlast was the first promoted.
"You're telling me that the first person in our class to get blood on his hands, is not Sasuke but the dead last?" asked Ino, confused.
"Yep, the blood of some bandits apparently," said Sakura.
"I always thought it was going Sasuke," said Ino, with a hand on her chin.
"Everyone thought that it was going to be Sasuke but I got to go, got to get ready for the C-rank," said Sakura, running off. Ino was most likely going
"Okay, everyone ready to go?" asked Kakashi, to Team 7 and Naruto, a hour after the first event. Everyone nodded as they walked away from their village or their home as they knew it, for some of them, the first time ever.
On their way, Naruto noticed a puddle and sensed something interesting came out of the puddle, 2 different chakra signatures in the puddle. Naruto walked next to Kakashi.
'Two chakra presences in the pool,' signed Naruto, as he walked next to Kakashi.
'Prepare for conflict' signed back Kakashi. Naruto walked next to the group, who were asking questions about the wave. Suddenly Kakashi was shocked to find 2 sharp chains rap around Kakashi.
Kakashi looked shocked as the chains were pulled and Kakashi was broken into multiple pieces.
"Kakashi-sensei!" shouted Sakura, but she began to guard Tazuna as their attackers focused on them. Sasuke looked around to notice that Naruto had disappeared.
'Coward,' thought Sasuke as he engaged in combat with one while one rushed at Sakura, noticing this Sasuke rushed in front of Sakura, using his body to sheild them from any harm, but this turned both attackers onto Sasuke and Sakura, rushing at them at the same time. This confirmed Naruto and Kakashi's theory about who the real target was, as they seemed to have ignored Sai.
The attackers jumped at them, their claws out stretched fully planning to kill him and Sakura but none of them reached as Naruto finally got involved, using the body flicker, he teleported in front of Sasuke, Sakura and Tazuna, pulling out two kunai and rushing forward.
"You will not interfere!" shouted Naruto, as he cutting both in half, killing them. Sasuke and Sakura both looked shocked at Naruto while Sai was impressed.
"Good job Naruto," said Kakashi and decided to turn his attention to Tazuna.
"Tazuna, it's time we had a chat," said Kakashi, to which Tazuna gulped.
