Hiruzen looked at the young blond with a vindictive smile, after all the torture the boy had put him through, he would finally get his revenge, and the ultimate revenge it was, paper work, large, large amount of paperwork. He decided that Naruto deserved 2 things a promotion and a job other than Anbu, the boy was bored after all.
"Naruto, I have decided to promote you to chunin," said Sarutobi to which Naruto looked excited and happy as he was passed the usual Chunin Flak jacket that came with the position.
"Now you're also going to be doing a job," said Sarutobi.
"But I already have a job as an Anbu," replied Naruto, confused.
"My dear boy, you're not going to be leaving Anbu but for sake of the village, you must take up a more mask-less role," said Sarutobi, ominously.
"Why?" asked Naruto.
"You are the jinchuuriki for the 9-tails, you represent a fraction of our military strength, we need you to be seen by the village and others as an impression of strength," said Sarutobi.
"Okay, so what will my position be?" asked Naruto.
"You will be my assistant," said Sarutobi, smiling. Naruto's eyes widened as he realized what had just happened.
"Curse you, old man!" shouted Naruto as a kunai suddenly went past his ear, with some hair falling down. Sarutobi stared at him, completely serious, realizing killing intent, as Naruto suddenly felt fear.
"Thank you, Lord Hokage, I'll just go get changed," said Naruto as he left the room. As soon as he exited, Sarutobi and the Anbu started laughing their asses off, albiet the Anbu's laughter was silent.
'Did you see that?' signed Shisui, as he kept silently laughing.
'It was beautiful,' signed Yugao.
Naruto peered in 5 minutes later, having gone back to his apartment and having just came back.
"So wanna see?" asked Naruto, excited. As Sarutobi nodded, in came Naruto. He was dressed in the flak jacket, with the black shirt and pants underneath. On his shoulder was the swirl. Sarutobi and the other Anbu black ops in the room's eyes widened at the sight, Naruto looked and reminded of the lord Fourth Hokage, in fact one could say he was a copy of their deceased leader.
"So how do I look?" asked Naruto, with a small smile.
"Great, Naruto, but you're assistant job won't start just yet," exclaimed Sarutobi.
"Wha-what do you mean?" asked the young Uzumaki.
"Commander Wolf wants you to go through basic training," said Sarutobi. Naruto disappeared in smoke.
-With the Anbu Commander-
Naruto changed back into his Anbu clothing and arrived to find the Anbu Commander, sitting there, waiting for him.
"Good, you're here," said the Commander.
"You wanted to see me sir?" asked Naruto.
"Indeed, Uzumaki, all Anbu go through basic training, in it, we explain the Anbu's roles, duties and put them through hell," said the Commander.
"Hell?" asked Naruto.
"We put them through a special training where they do endurance, chakra sensing, assassination, Kenjutsu, information gathering and more, this training is the most painful training in Konoha, it was designed by me to train our Anbu to efficiency, it ensured only the most devoted to get through, it has a casualty rate where in about 25 recruits, only 13 survive , it is made up of different parts, " explain the Commander.
"How much of it do I have to do?" asked Naruto.
"Since you know Anbu policies, you will be focusing on improving your chakra control, your chakra sensing, your taijutsu, your Kenjutsu, your endurance and by the end of it you should be able to do more high ranking genjutsu, this is because part of the problem relating to the kyuubi is your abnormally large chakra reserves, I have altered the basic training to fit your unique circumstances," explained the Commander. Naruto instantly got excited, part of the reason was because of the idea that this training could make him stronger, and not just that, he could finally do genjutsu.
"Bring it on!" shouted Naruto.
"You see this forest, hound?" asked the Commander pointed towards the forest.
"Yeah?" asked Naruto.
"I want you to run through it from this point to the flag at the end, again and again, no breaks," ordered the Commander.
"For how long?" asked the young Uzumaki.
"Until I feel tired, don't, use chakra," ordered the Commander. Naruto began to run through the forest, going through the trees. This was the endurance part of the training. It was 20 miles through the forest and 20 miles back from the forest.
As soon as he stopped, he got a painful hit on the head with a piece of wood by the Commander, he was on the floor, there was some blood coming out of his head.
"I didn't say you could stop, keep going," ordered the Commander as Naruto got up and started running again. Naruto did 3 more laps of the forest which was thanks to the fox's healing and Naruto's own life force and already amazing endurance.
"That's enough!" ordered the Commander "Now make 39 clones."
Naruto did the hand sign and 39 other Naruto appeared, while the Commander made 3 clones of himself.
"Ten of you, go with my shadow clone to improve your chakra control, ten of you go to practise your tiajutsu, ten of you go to practise kenjutsu and the final 10 practice chakra sensing," ordered the Commander.
