Sakura couldn't help but feel self-conscious as they walked through the town market. Her growing belly was now very noticeable and she couldn't help but notice the stares they were getting from people passing by. Maybe it was just her imagination, after all a pregnant woman was not something uncommon, especially after the war, all over the fire country everyone was popping out babies. Meanwhile, Sasuke was walking confidently beside her, seemingly unfazed by the attention they were receiving.
Feeling a little insecure, Sakura tugged at her shirt, trying to cover up her belly. Sasuke noticed her discomfort and immediately put a reassuring arm around her.
"Stop worrying so much," he said softly. "You look beautiful. And besides, everyone is probably just staring at me."
Sakura couldn't help but laugh at his arrogance. "You wish," she teased, giving him a playful nudge.
Sasuke smiled at her, his eyes softening. "I mean it though," he said, pulling her closer to him. "You're carrying our child, Sakura. That's an incredible thing. You should be proud of yourself."
Sakura's heart swelled with love for him. She knew he wasn't one for overt displays of affection, but moments like these where he showed his caring side made her appreciate him even more.
"I am proud," she said, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I just can't help feeling a little self-conscious sometimes. I'm not used to being so round" which was true, almost all of her life she had been very athletic, she felt like she was letting herself go, although her medic side knew it was just normal weight gain.
Sasuke tilted his head down to look at her. "You don't have to be," he said firmly. "You're carrying our child, and that's all that matters. And besides, I think you look amazing."
Sakura felt a warmth spread through her at his words. She knew Sasuke wasn't one to give compliments freely, so it meant, even more, to hear him say that.
"Thanks, Sasuke," she said softly, leaning in to give him a kiss on the cheek.
He smiled at her, his eyes shining. "Anytime, Sakura."
