Chapter 3
Mei Aki went mad at a young age. Plagued with visions of death and destruction, she saw faces of men not yet born, of wars yet to happen. She suddenly remembered two lives, and it drove her insane.
So, when she saw the child version of the man from her nightmares, she wrapped her hands around his throat and killed him. Danzo was just a child. So was Aki. She didn’t know everything, but she knew enough.
She remembered skills forty years in the making. And so she took them as her own. She knew cheats for controlling chakra, and she knew the drills to run. And so she grew stronger.
And her nightmares continued to plague her. Memories of crimes not yet committed. It didn’t matter to her. She wanted them dead –the villains in her mind. And so, when Hiruzen took in the eventual legendary sannin, she killed again.
Those were not the only times, but they were the only children. Until the Village Hidden in the Rain. She added three more to her count then. She thought about it, once, if she should try to guide them. But Aki’s mind was no longer sound. And her heart no longer wept for the misguided hearts of others. Danzo may have been her first kill, but she had seen more death than any child should, and so her heart wept only for the lost potential.
