Summary
(UNDERGOING A REWRITE!!)Kaguya, the godess who wrecked havoc in the world. Obito, who helped in releasing the Ōtsutsuki, feels great regret in aiding the godess' freedom. What happens when Obito– the self-sacrificing idiot, finds a flimsy scroll in the Village of Swirls and uses it on Team Kakashi to fix his mess on a pure whim that it would work? While performing the justu/seal he said some things that kinda wonked the performance of it.So, we got Team Kakashi getting sent back to the past to change the future but the past isnt really their past huh? If there are things that weren't there on their own timeline?[but I haven't watched Naruto for a long time and the only knowledge I have gotten are from edits, and kakaobi fics.]

Idiot

“Maa… ’Bito, it’s freezing in here. The kids made a fire—why don’t you come warm up?” Kakashi’s tone carries a forced cheerfulness, his weary eyes betraying his concern.

Obito grunts, looking as if he had only just sat down after standing. Kakashi raises an eyebrow at him. “Were you walking around? ’Bito, you’re injured. You shouldn’t be moving…” He kneels beside Obito, checking the wound at his waist.

“I wasn't moving around, Ba-Ka-Shii,” he says, emphasizing the syllables with irritation. “Was just standing,” he mumbles.

Kakashi hums, “yeah. Alright..”

A comfortable silence enveloped them as Kakashi wrapped a new bandage around Obito’s wounded waist.

Obito stares as Kakashi works, knowing they’re wasting valuable resources on him—the very reason they’re in this predicament. It fills him with an emotion he can only call acceptance. He has accepted his fate and would forsake anything said otherwise. So with a sigh, he looks at Kakashi, the man satisfied with his work.

“Kakashi.” Obito said, staring at him with a strong sense of resolution. Kakashi does not like that look— “I have a plan. A plan for all of you to be safe.”

Silence.

"All of us? Obito, What about you?" Kakashi asks desperately, staring at him knowing fully what Obito is trying to do, he hopes his thoughts are wrong.

Obito offers a faint, almost hollow smile, the warmth gone. “Kakashi, do you remember a few days ago when we stumbled across that old village?” Kakashi’s brow furrows, suspicion creeping into his features. “The Village of the Swirls? Uzushiogakure?” Kakashi mumbled.

Obito nodded, “yeah that..” he chuckles, “found this– seal and figured it could help you” he took out the parchment and in it has very complicated twirls and swirls, Kakashi’s head tilts as he tries to figure out what the seal is about.

“See this.. uh” Obito looks at the seal and points at the upper left of the paper, “this? It spells time” he smiles. It's big and hopeful.

Kakashi analyzes the seal, dread filling him as he slowly but carefully manages to figure out the seal and its contents. It fills him with anger “Obito— Time Travel??!” His eyes are big as oysters as he stares at Obito. “This— it uses such big amounts of chakra Obito!” He roars, as he holds Obito’s shoulders shaking him, “Your chakra is already depleted!! Do you know what would happen if you did this?!” He scolded.

Silence.

“Is this what you meant by only us?? Me and my team?? Are you—.. you already know what would happen if you performed the seal…” He mutters at the realization as he looks at the acceptance evident on Obito’s face.

Obito smiles again, all he has been doing is smiling, he thought bitterly. “This jutsu will probably kill me, Kakashi. But if it keeps you and the others safe, then it’s worth it.”

Kakashi shakes his head, full of denial. “Obito—”, “Kakashi call your team.” Obito cut off. “No—”

Obito’s eye twitch with anger, it is the first emotion he has seen today that isn't some sort of weird smile or content mood. “Kakashi. I helped— no. I did this mess! This is the only way I could help in fixing this!” He screeched.

Kakashi looks taken aback, his mind racing, when the sound of hurried footsteps nears them, “SENSEII!! OBITO!! IT'S KAGUYA!!” They heard Naruto shout in panic, his voice as loud and urgent as the thunder that echoed nerby.

Kakashi blinked, his mind clearing as he looked up at the source. Panic gripped him as he saw the plan unfolding in Obito’s eyes, and dread sank deeper into his chest. His gaze snapped back to his team. "NARUTO! SAKURA! SASUKE! DON'T COME NEAR!" he shouted, his voice frantic as the trio stood frozen before them, fear and confusion written across their faces.

Naruto shook his head, not heeding Kakashi’s warning. "Sensei! Obito! We’ve got to go! Kaguya’s coming! We can’t stay here!" he urged, grabbing Obito’s arm, desperately trying to help him to his feet.

"Sensei, come on! We have to move!" Sakura exclaimed, gripping Kakashi’s shoulder with urgency, her eyes wide with worry.

Obito smiles, Kakashi stares at him with worry, “‘Bito—”, “Kyuubi, remember what we talked about?”.

Naruto stared at Obito with confusion, but feels kurama's chakra spreading and combining with Obito’s own. He looks at Obito, terrified. “O-Obito what are you doing???”

Obito looks at him, smiling sardonically.

“Obito.” Sasuke had rasped as he looked around the floor. “You created a seal.. on the floor.” He muttered as Team Kakashi noticed the bloodied symbols and the circle they were in.

Naruto glances down, realisation dawning as he sees the bloodied symbols encircling them. Obito kneels, placing the parchment at the seal’s center outside the circle. It glows faintly, the light intensifying as his chakra flows into it.

“Team Kakashi,” Obito says, his voice steady despite the strain in his body. “I’m giving you a second chance. A chance to rewrite the past and spare others from the suffering I’ve caused.”

“I’m giving you this chance to change the past... but don’t expect things to be how you remember. When you get there—change what needs to be changed. It won’t be the same past anymore, not the one you're used to. Probably no Obito around to cause mayhem, hahahaha.” Obito jokingly said, as the rest of the Team stared at him horrified.

Before anyone could respond, he shoves Naruto into the circle, the glowing seal flaring to life. Snapping everyone out of their shocked trance.

“Obito, no!” Kakashi’s voice breaks, his hands reaching out, but it’s too late. A blinding white light engulfs them all.

As the light subsided, there stood a lone man, who has never smiled so brightly before. He chuckled as a tear slipped from his eye. “A past where I was never a nuisance…” he giggled, unhinged and physcotic. “Wouldn't that be amazing, ne, Kaguya?” He chuckled, looking upwards as the godess stood before him, squinting her eyes in frustration.

.

Everything was on fire.

Is all Kakashi thought as he jolted awake, his hand reaching out onto nothing.

He groaned as he held the hand to his pounding headache. ‘That stupid idiot!’ He screamed in frustration inside his head.

A tear slipped from Kakashi’s eyes. ‘That stupid idiot— so stupid..’ He sobbed as he forced himself to calm down. “Self-sacrificing bastard” He angrily muttered.

When fully calmed down, helooked around. Noting that this was the Shinobi quarters before Pein’s attack on Konoha. He was in his room, oh how he missed it. He smiles as he glances beside him onto the desk and sees his Team– Team Minato’s portrait on top of it. He smiles as he stood up, walking towards it and holding it for him to see.

Bittersweet emotions fills him as he realizes Obito didnt sent them too far in the past to fix. ‘I guess I wont be able to save Rin.. and sensei…’ he frowned.

He scans the portrait he held. Shock fills him, dread washes over him as he let go of the picture frame.

As the portrait cracked and fell onto the floor,  a person on Obito’s place. Who didnt smile as brightly as the goggled wearing boy, replaced him— Obito..
