he ignored, he always did. or at least that’s what he told himself. no matter how hard sasuke tried to ignore people's murmurs, it was difficult.
although some of them were complimenting his look or saying what an amazing ninja he is, most of them were hurtful, mentioning that he was a horrible human, that they should have left him in jail, that they should never have forgive him, that his wife, Sakura, should never have accepted him, nor started a family with him.
and worst of all it’s that deep down, he felt they were right.
"it’s him, it's uchiha sasuke, the man who tried to kill the two people who fought the most for him" a man said.
“how ungrateful” his friend answered.
“a soulless jerk if you ask me”
“just keep walking” he told himself.
he tried to not let those comments affect him, he was very happy to see his wife and daughter again after weeks of not being with them, but it was inevitable, even if he didn't show it, those comments hurt him.
—
“i’m back”
"welcome home, dear" he was greeted by his wife with a warm hug and a small kiss on the lips.
he was never going to deserve her.
"everything okay on the way over...did you stop by to see naruto?" she bombarded him with questions as she led him into the living room to sit together on the couch.
"all good and no, i haven't gone to see naruto”.
"he'll be hysterical if he finds out you came and didn't greet him" she told him as she took his hands and caressed them.
"he’ll get over it" he replied, leaning into the crook of his wife's neck.
moments like these were the ones he longed to always have, but unfortunately, his duty to the village did not allow it.
"are you ok? i notice you thoughtful"
and there she was, reading him like an open book, it was impossible to lie to her, she knew him better than anyone.
"something happened?"
"i heard something"
"did you hear something? now you are the gossiper of konoha?” she told him trying to joke, but he didn't laugh, he continued to be serious, which confirmed that something was wrong.
"people, they say i don't deserve you"
“who?”
“everyone in konoha”
“everyone in konoha?” she thought.
"and what do you think?"
“i…i think they are right”
she stepped back for a moment, trying to process the conversation.
she knew that sometimes he was affected by those comments, but she didn’t want him to feel that he did not deserve her, neither her nor her daughter, konoha had hurt her husband a lot, and it made her mad to know that they were continuing to do it.
it hurt her to know that he felt that.
"love is not about deserving sasuke, love is much more than that. people can judge us and talk, but they don't know us, they don't know anything about us, about our love, because this" she pointed at him and her "is ours, this love is ours, sasuke" she said giving him that look, that language that only they knew.
"sarada and I love you, we know that everything you do is because you care about us and you love us, because we’re important to you, never doubt that." she told him as she moved closer to him again and took her hands.
"we deserve us, sasuke, the three of us, we are a family, we have a bond that nothing and no one will ever take away from us, because it’s ours."
he felt like a fool for having doubted it, there was nothing left to do but say I love you in his language.
“thanks, sakura”.
there would never be enough words to explain what he felt for that woman, his heart was beating intensely for her, all the emotions were still just as alive, as if they were newlyweds, and he would always be grateful for that.
