Chapter 2
While Ryoga and Izuku are talking in the silence bubble, the teachers are talking to each other without the others hearing
Aizawa: So Yagi you had some idea who the top hero crushed the problem child's dream so tell me.
All Might: yeah, if the events of that world are quite similar to ours, then I would say that the hero was me.
Aizawa: What the hell happened?
All Might starts to tell about the day he met Izuku and what happened then and what he said.
Aizawa: Yagi you're an idiot apparently in that world your word crusher Midoriya though come to think of it most of us underground heroes don't have flashy or powerful quirks and most of us fight quirkless.
All Might: I know and I've regretted what I said every day so I know. We were lucky that our version of young Midoriya didn't give up and got a quirk in the entrance exam.
Aizawa: True
At the same time, the students of classes 1-A and 1-B are talking to each other
Mina: Why would anyone bully Midoriya, he's really nice.
Kirishima: Hey Bakubro and you weren't in the same school as Midobro do you have any idea who could be Midoriya's bully
Bakugou: I have no idea if the nerd is just acting or lying
Those in Izuku's group of friends look at Bakugo suspiciously
Ochako: I have one suspicion and now I really hope I'm wrong
Iida: What do you mean Uraraka?
Shoto: I think I can guess what you mean, and if you're right, then we've been really bad friends.
Meanwhile, 1-B with the students
Kendo: So Midoriya had been quirkles for the most part of his life and he's been bullied and maybe something else if the stats I've looked at and what Ryoga told are true then it's a miracle that he still wants to be a hero.
Tetsutetsu: What do you mean?
Kendo: I'm not going to tell you now, but I know a little because some of the students in the dojo where I train are quirkles, so I've heard horror stories about how they're treated and I've also looked at the statistics of quirkless people on the internet and believe what I've seen and heard gives you nightmares. So I mean that Midoriya has a really strong will and determination to still want to be a hero after everything he's been through.
Shiozaki: I pray to God to punish the bullies severely and to give Midoriya the strength to carry on after everything that happened.
Pony: At least I know that quirkless people are treated better in America and some laws have been made to protect them, while in Japan there don't seem to be any laws for quirkless people.
Setsuna: So in a way anyone with a quirk can do something to a quirkles person and he wouldn't get in any trouble for it
Pony: No, rather no one would care what happened to the quirkles person and ignore the whole thing or look away even if the laws still apply to them
Setsuna: What the hell is wrong with people if they watch from the sidelines when something like that happens
Kendo: A very good question that I, or perhaps no one, has an answer to.
Everyone quiets down when they notice that Ryoga has turned off his silence bubble and he and Izuku walk to their seats. Izuku notices that his friend group and some of Class 1-B are looking at him worriedly
Izuku: Hey did something happen when I was talking to Ryoga
Uraraka: Deku-kun can we talk after the episode
Izuku: Sure but why do you look worried if everything is okay
Uraraka: I'm fine but I have a couple of questions.
Izuku: Alright
Kendo: Can some of us join the discussion?
Shoto: Me too
Iida: I also wanted to join the discussion as a concerned friend and see that no one starts to riot
Izuku: It’s okay for me and if it okay for you Uraraka
Uraraka: It’s okay me too.
Ryoga who is listening to the conversation tells them
Ryoga: I can create a room for you where you can talk without problems
Izuku: You can just do it like that?
Ryoga: Of course I'm the creator of this dimension so all I have to do is snap my fingers and bam a new room is created
Izuku: Oh yeah, you're a demon lord so it doesn't take much from you to do that
Ryoga: Yep
Ryoga:So next episode?
All: Yep, let's see
Ryoga snaps his fingers and the title of the episode appears on the screen
Chapter 2: Attempt 2: Music
Izuku: So my next venture is somehow related to music.
Kyoka: Green, if you do something horrible to music, I'm going to be really mad at you
Izuku: Why would you be mad at me if the other me in the other universe is doing something to the music
Kyoka raises her finger and is about to say something but thinks for a moment, Lowers her finger and shut her mouth
Kyoka: True
After a week of giving Endeavor mayo-coffee, it finally sank in that sabotaging Endeavor’s coffee would not get Izuku fired. If anything, the flaming hero seemed to be in a better mood lately because of his daily mug of Toxic Waste. He hadn’t yelled at anyone for the entire week, and the interns seemed to last more than a few days.
Aizawa: How on earth can Endeavor like that kind of coffee
Izuku: I have no idea
Shoto: Well, the others working in the agency must be in a better mood when they don't have to hear Endeavor's screams every day
Izuku: And the trainees last longer when their boss isn't angry all the time
Assuming they didn’t try hitting on Burnin’, that is.
Izuku: Why do the people try to hit him, don't they know that's a pretty sure way to get fired, or rather why doesn't anyone warn them that it's a sure way to get fired.
Shoto: I don't know how to answer that, maybe in a way they will be able to know if they are suitable hero rookies to work in my father's agency
Izuku: Possible but it still sounds like a stupid way to see if they are a good fit for the agency and secondly at some point Burnin will either realize this himself or someone will tell him and think what a fight it will be when he hears about it.
Shoto: True, but what would be a better option
Izuku: I think they could see how they work and behave in your father's office and then decide if it's worth keeping them there or not
Shoto: A slower but more functional idea.
Izuku sighed as he typed away at his computer, trying to ignore his coworkers. He kept one ear clear in case of sudden emergency, but he had an earbud in his other so he could listen to music. It was wireless, so there weren’t any cords to get tangled. The earbuds were a gift from the best inventor in his year at UA. She gave them to him cuz she couldn’t get the battery working as long as she wanted.
Izuku: I think I know who we're talking about here, but I wonder why usually no one wants to be a quirkless person's friend or have anything to do with them
Everyone looks in the direction of Hatsume who is nibbling on something.
Mei: Huh why are you looking at me, I don't care if someone has a quirk or not. It's enough for me to be able to appreciate support items, and now that I think about it, I could probably make better support items for a quirkless person because then I don't have to think about how their quirks would work with their support items.
Izuku: Why couldn't I meet you before UA.
…Izuku still wondered how 163 hours wasn’t long enough…
Izuku: How come 163 hours isn't long enough?
Kyoka: Well, if I had a battery that lasted that long in a music player, I would be really happy because then I could listen to music without having to think about charging the player's battery every day.
Mei: Well, I have plans for what we're talking about, but..
Momo: Is there a problem?
Mei: I have designed the device's battery to last two weeks, either I didn't succeed or there were some problems with the materials
Momo: If it's a material problem then I can use my quirk to give you the necessary materials.
Kyoka: And I offered to test them to see if they fit or not cause harm to people with too good hearing but on one condition.
Mei: Who is?
Kyoka: I'll get the first complete version
May: Deal!!
A sudden cough from across the room startled Izuku from his thoughts. Izuku sighed from the noise and started to put his other earbud in, but stopped. He realized something. He pulled out his sole earbud, really noticing just how quiet the room was. The silence was absolutely maddening. How hadn’t he noticed before? Oh yeah, his earbuds.
Aizawa: You should pay more attention to the problem child around you.
Izuku: I'm quirkless in that world and I didn't take a hero course but a general course where you probably don't learn how to pay attention to your surroundings.
Aizawa: True
“Hey, uh, quick question,” Izuku waved down a sidekick walking by. “Why don’t we have music playing? I mean, I can understand not having rock or anything loud, but why not even mellow stuff?”
Ryoga: That's a good question because I even put some music on when I was working to help me concentrate.
Izuku: What kind of music do you listen to?
Ryoga: Some anime music and some game music. And before anyone asks, no I don't listen to any fortnite music.
“Boss doesn’t like it,” the sidekick replied. “He thinks any music is distracting. He got really angry when a fellow hero tried to play music a few years back. We just stopped trying.” Izuku nodded, letting the sidekick get back to what he was doing. He turned back to his desk with a smile.
Shoto: Must have been playing some All Might music so I understand why my dad didn't like it because it doesn't help with concentration
Izuku: Unfortunately, I agree but no offense All Might, but your music is not suitable for working because it sounds like out-of-tune bar music.
All Might: I know I made most of my music after working too many days in a row and accidentally drinking too much alcohol.
Aizawa: Why didn't you take them off sale then?
All Might: I tried, but my PR team claimed that they sell well for sure and they shouldn't be withdrawn from sale. I still wonder how they managed to talk me out of keeping them on sale.
He had a new idea.
Izuku: I think I can already guess what kind of idea I got.
Denki: Even I can guess what kind of idea you got.
—
At the end of the workday, everyone was packing their things. Endeavor would be the last to leave (as always), but Izuku made sure he’d be the second-to-last. And while Endeavor was locking everything else up, Izuku snuck into the server room. He knew it’d take Endeavor a good ten minutes to finish up in his office, which should be plenty of time for what he had planned.
Shoto: I wonder how that version of you was able to avoid my father when he locks in places and is usually pretty accurate?
Izuku: Years of bullying teaches you to be stealthy and how to disappear quickly
Aizawa who hears this gets an imaginary blow to himself as he didn't notice Izuku's useful skills. At the same time, Nezu thinks about how he would teach Izuku to use his skills in the Hero job.
Izuku knew the Agency had a PA system for blaring the morning news or important stuff, and helping a sidekick with maintenance a few weeks prior let him know what exact system it was. And it was one he could hook an mp3 player up to. Keeping an ear out for his boss, Izuku quickly hooked his personal mp3 player to the device and set it up to play a random song assortment instead of the morning news. Even better, he had a specific song set to start the list. His name was written on the back of the device in white-out, no way anyone wouldn’t figure out it was him. With a smirk, Izuku left the office two minutes before Endeavor. Best part, it was his weekend. He was gone for two days. With any luck, they’d tell him not to come back.
Izuku: The plan sounds good and works, but why do I have the feeling that this plan will go wrong as well.
Kyoka: I doubt that the music list you made is suitable for work, which is why it goes wrong.
Izuku: I wouldn't be surprised
Ryoga: In a way, even if you want to get fired, the back of your mind with its thoughts makes things so that it only makes things better.
Izuku: Maybe I'm also interested in what is the first music that starts playing.
Ryoga: I know what it is but no spoilers.
—
The following morning, Endeavor sat at his desk, going over the overnight reports from other heroes. He heard the PA click on, but ignored it. It usually just repeated what he was reading anyway. Nothing surprising.
Mineta: Ooh how wrong he will be
Instead, it was surprising to hear music start up. Even more surprising was what came next.
I am a superstar with a big big house and a big big car
I am a superstar and I don’t care who you are…
Izuku: Actually, that was the first music on the list
Kyoka: I can honestly say that it is half suitable for those working in the hero agency and half not
Ryoga: I'll give you this advice, if you want to get fired with music, start playing some out of tune music with a really bad singer. Or do as one person in my hometown, according to rumor.
Kyoka: What did that person do?
Ryoga: What I've heard is that a person went in front of one of the malls in my hometown and started playing the saw out of tune until the manager of the mall came and paid him a ton, as I remember, after which the person went in front of another shopping center and played the saw out of tune.
Denki: Quite a bold guy, did he get in trouble for that?
Ryoga: I don't know like I said, that was just a rumor I heard.
Endeavor dropped the folder he was reading through and looked up in confusion.
“What the hell?”
Izuku: So did I manage to get fired.
Kyoka: I don't think, as I said, the first music is suitable for a half-hero agency, so I suspect that you only managed to improve the speed and enthusiasm of the work at the agency
Izuku: Possible
—
No one contacted Izuku the entire weekend. He wasn’t sure if this meant his attempt failed or if everyone was just so angry at him they couldn’t bear to speak to him. He hoped it was the latter. He held onto that hope as he walked to the office. Stepping through the doors, Izuku was expecting for someone to be waiting for him to drag him away.
Izuku: So a normal day at Aldera school.
Mina: So did something like that happen at your former school
Izuku: Usually when someone important came to visit the school and according to the teachers, the guest is not allowed to see quirkless filth so when I came to the school some students caught me tied me and gagged me and locked me in some warehouse and let me out if they remembered out of the warehouse, usually I had to do everything myself because they forgot me.
Nezu: Young Midoriya, if something like that happened at your school, didn't your mother notice anything and do something about the chosen school
Izuku: Usually I hide everything from my mother because she already suffered from it when I was quirkless and I didn't want her to suffer more but I suspect that my mother knew about some things and tried to do something but nothing happened.
Aizawa: What do you mean Midoriya
Izuku: I once heard my mother calling the local police station, but she didn't notice that she had the loudspeaker on. So when I heard my mother say that she suspects my school is discriminating and abusing me because I was quirkless then I heard when the police who answered the call said why should they care about a quirkless person and that person also said that if my mother calls about something like that again they will arrest my mother and throw her in jail for a really long time and kill me.
Everyone looks at Izuku in horror because they only heard a small part of what Izuku has had to suffer before the UA. Meanwhile, no one notices that Nezu is planning the destruction of Aldera School.
He was not expecting to hear peppy music playing through the office. No one was waiting for him, either. Rather, everyone was grooving along with the music. Izuku was so stunned at the sight he did not take another step until a sidekick came running up.
Shoto: Well, this is quite a surprising sight, usually everyone is tense as if a major attack is about to come.
Ryoga: Sometimes some music calms or helps to do the work in places where the groups are tense almost all the time.
“Hey there, Midoriya!” the hero greeted. “Have a good weekend?”
“Why is everyone…” Izuku gestured.
Izuku: Understandable, even I would be surprised if I saw something like this in Endeavor's hero agency.
“Oh, it was your music player!” the hero explained. “Initially Endeavor was pretty confused, borderline mad, at what you did, but after an hour he saw the office was in a bit better mood than usual. We convinced him to let it go as an experiment for the day, and what do ya know? We actually got our paperwork done faster by writing with the tempo of the music! After seeing our increased efficiency, the boss decided to let it keep going! Can’t really praise you this time, though, cuz it took us a couple hours to rework things so the music would stop if an emergency order came through, but other than that you did good! Also, Endeavor wants more of your special coffee.”
“Goddammit,” Izuku groaned as he slowly sunk to the floor.
Kyoka: Green, apparently you made a suitable music list to listen to at the hero agency with work, it's funny that he was just trying to get fired but I only managed to improve things.
Izuku: When I try to do something to get out it doesn't work, why?
Ryoga: Don't look at me there could be many different explanations, do you want to hear a couple of crazy explanations.
Izuku: Go for it.
Ryoga: One your some really distant ancestor stole some shaman's mace that cursed your family with some really weird bad luck, two you have an invisible quirk that does the opposite of what you're trying really hard to do.
Izuku looks at Ryoga confused as he hears the crazy explanations of why everything is happening
Ryoga: believe me, I've heard crazier ones, but I won't go into the whole list, it'll be too long.
Ochako goes to Izuku
Ochako: So, Izuku, can we talk as a group about a couple of things, you see, I have a couple of doubts and questions about you?
Izuku: Go to me
Ryoga: I'll create a room for you guys for that, but how many will come to that conversation. I'm only asking so I can create enough seats there.
Itsuka, Shoto, Tenya and Mineta raise their hands as the others notice Mineta raising their hand. They look at him in wonder.
Mineta: What's wrong if I worry about my classmates?
Momo: No, but you surprised us because you're usually, well, you.
Mineta: Understandable, but look, I had an older brother who was quirkless, but he hanged himself when he was bullied at school and the teachers didn't do anything about it. If he were alive, he would be in his third year at UA. He is the main reason I wanted to be a hero, I wanted to be a hero so I could bring his school and those who bullied him to justice.
Denki: Wait a minute, didn't you say you wanted to be a hero to get lots of hot women?
Mineta: It was false because I have seen some people from the same school where my brother was at UA so I had to not attract attention because I don't want them to alert their previous school about my intentions because they were the children of the principal of that school and some of the school's teachers.
Mina: So all your perversion out was a stage to fool those other students
Mineta: Yes, even though I admit that I'm a pervert, but I had to raise my perversion up to eleven because I was ready to go Extreme to fool the people I lost my brother to.
Momo: Thank you for telling me, but you could have told me earlier so we wouldn't have treated you so badly. Even though we now know that you did everything for a reason, it can still be difficult for us to trust you in everything at the same time.
Mineta: I understand but as I said I was ready to go to extremes and the reason why I didn't tell earlier was that I remember my brother told me that someone had some kind of information gathering quirk so I couldn't risk my plan being revealed earlier.
When Mineta told her story and the reason, Ryoga clicks his fingers and immediately a door appears on the other wall of the hall that says conference room. No one notices that Nezu adds another school to the list of schools to destroy
Ryoga: So here's a suitable room for you guys to chat with, meanwhile I'm going to check on a couple of things.
