Control Freak Losing Control??
At the hotel
“So how did it go with Neji?” Shikamaru questioned, as he and Sasuke moved to talk off to the side.
“It was good he seemed to be living a happy life you know with his daughter that Shino mentioned in the photos,” Sasuke replied as he turned his attention to Kawaki getting checked out by the doctor in the living room. Still being able to look at him felt so surreal to him. He prays everything will come out well with the tests. Along with hoping Kawaki will be deemed his and Naruto’s long-lost child.
“I feel like you love making me suffer anyway. What did the daughter look like, and how old did she look?” Shikamaru was getting anxious now although he should have expected Neji to move on. It had been ten years. Of course, he wasn’t going to be sitting around just waiting for him to get up and drag him back home.
“From the little glimpse I got from looking at her she’s the mini-girl version of Neji if I’m being honest. She looks just like him down to the eye color. She also looks as if she is around the age of nine or ten, basically Himiwari’s age, near about the age I may be off a little,” Sasuke suggested.
“If she’s around that age either the girl is either my daughter or he moved on very fast. Ugh, I don't know what to think as of right now I am very confused right now. Anyways you have taken the paternity test. I'll drop it off at my company to make sure tampering doesn’t happen and to see if I can get the results back early.”
Grabbing the samples, Shikamaru walked out of the room. Walking down the halls of the hotel Shikamaru's thoughts began to cave in on him; he had to see Neji now. It would be a rude awakening for him to say the least but what can you expect from the last ten years? Life is full of rude and harsh awakenings.
He was next to the elevator when his phone vibrated in his pockets pulling him out of his thoughts.
“Nara speaking,” he answered, stepping onto the elevator and pressing the button to the first floor.
“Dad, when are you coming back home? We miss you,” spoke a little voice on the other end. It was Shikadai on the other end. He loved spending time with his dad, but when he was out of town he missed him alot. Also, his dad being the only parent he and his older siblings had at the moment made them worried that he may never come back.
“Hopefully I'll be back later this week buddy I have some business to attend to right now, but as soon as it is done I'll be back home in no time I promise,” he reassured. He knew Shikadai was very much like him when it came to certain things in life.
“Shikadai is that Dad on the phone?” Sora asked further in the background.
“Yeah”
“Ok let me hold the phone. I need to ask him something.”
“Ok,” he muttered, handing her the phone.
“Hey Sora, what can I do for you?”
“Dad, I know I'm in trouble and I am not supposed to be on the phone, but I wanted to know what city you were in. So where are you? You did not tell me and Tobs(Sora’s twin) you were going anywhere.”
“I'm in New York as of right now. I'm here to handle some business with the company located here,” he walked out of the hotel and got into his car.
“But you said the business in Seattle was doing fine when you reviewed the recent reports. So what happened since you went over that?” Sora was very observant when it came to certain things. So she felt as though her father was hiding something from her and her siblings right now and she did not like that.
What could be that important is that he had to lie about leaving. Unless he got himself a new partner which would be weird since he is still pining over my mom. But hey who knows?
“Sora things can change at any moment when owning or being over a business. This can happen when you least expect it, didn't I tell you?”
“Ok, but you better not be lying to me, Dad. I will find out if you are,” her eyes narrowed as she looked at the phone.
“Yeah Sora I know, but I will call you guys back later. I’m driving right now so I can't be distracted. Tell Shikadai and Tobs I love them and I'll call you guys later.”
“Alright bye Dad love you”
“I love you to sleep good ok,”
“Ok good night,” Sora ended the call with that.
Sora went to bed that night with her mind racing and she felt something big was going to happen. She didn’t know when but just knew it would happen.
The drive was quiet on the way to Neji’s house. Shikamaru’s heart felt like it was beating out of his chest. He wanted this visit to go well but he expected the twist if it was to occur. Even though he wouldn't like it.
(Fast forward to Neji’s house)
Neji was preparing him and Hanami a snack for the movie when there was a knock on his door. Since Hanami was closer she marched over and opened it.
“Hello”
“Hi, I was looking for Shima Himiko. Is he here?”
“Yes, I will go get him for you.”
Hanami closed the door and walked towards the kitchen to get her mother. Neji stood looking down at his phone at the recipes when Hanami came in.
“Mom, someone at the door wants to see you.”
“Ok”
“I wonder who it is this time,” he thought, moving towards the front entrance. He opened that door and it brought back world winds of emotions for him.
He had fought hard to push down and try to forget. Emotions he thought he would never feel again.
