Leaving
Neji was in his bedroom packing his bags. He rushed to finish. He had a week to decide to leave his family. Or something terrible would happen to them. It was an extremely difficult decision because he loved his husband and their three kids so much. But if not, they would have been hurt. Even though he was hesitant to abandon his friends and family, he also wanted them to be protected from any harm that might come to them.
Neji knew his husband could protect himself, but their kids weren't old enough to protect themselves yet. And he wasn’t willing to take that risk either. Neji finished packing his bags and headed out of his and his husband’s room. He didn’t have much time because his husband would soon realize he wasn’t in bed.
Tipping down the hall he peeked into the twins' room kissing their foreheads and saying bye in his head. Neji didn’t know if he would ever beg to see them again, and it hurt. As tears ran down his face he walked into Shikadai’s room, kissed his forehead, and walked out.
Neji’s POV:
“I don’t want to leave them and it hurts so much.”
Wiping away the tears running down my face I pulled the four letters out of my bag, placing them on the table. As I arrived at the front door, I looked back one last time.
The words, "I'm sorry," disappeared into my mind as I stepped outside the house.
Looking at the waiting cab I walked towards the gates and got into the cab.
Looking at my wedding ring I realized I would probably never see my family. However, in my gut, I knew that wasn't possible for too long. I knew my husband would not give up on finding me, nor would my parents either.
Shaking my head to forget the family and memories I’m leaving behind. I pulled out the yellow envelope I received 2 days ago with my newly acquired identity inside. Staring at it, I knew that was the end of my old life.
“Goodbye Neji Nara, and hello Shima Himiko.”
