Waking Up
Kyoko came to with a massive headache, 'What? Ow!'
A man was beside her, "Koko - chan, you are awake."
Kyoko mumbled before falling asleep, 'Too tired.'
Kyoko opened her eyes and looked around gasping, "Where am I?"
"Ah! You are awake."
Kyoko, "Lord Death? What happened? My memories, they are so different."
Death, "Dear one, you died in an accident. It was before your time. So your Harry - nii requested, I help you the same way I helped him."
Kyoko's eyes widened, she then remembered one night with the group and Tsuna - kun. He had explained the things that happened in the popular book they liked were real events and it all happened to Harry. The only difference unlike the happy ending in the book, Harry had died because his body was hurt beyond healing. It had been a sleepover filled with tears and a bewildered Harry getting hugged by them all.
Reborn who was watching them had smirked and encouraged them to spoil their Harry - nii as much as possible. Heaven knew, the man deserved all the care and love in the world. Kyoko took a deep breath remembering the Occlumency lessons and started to slowly go through her memories. Let's see, in this world, she was an only child of a Chunin couple.
Kyoko, "Chunin? How very interesting."
Death, "Yes, it is, I brought your soul here because I found a body that could house you without any backlash."
Kyoko perked up, "Like how you found Harry - nii? That is so cool."
Death nodded and they kept watching how Kyoko was raised between two Chunin parents and their friends. She saw how much of an information hoarder she was in her new life and went through so many books. She was planning on joining a Shinobi Academy because she wanted to be like her parents. Now the reason why she landed in a hospital, apparently she accidentally stopped a kidnapping.
That too was not just anyone's kidnapping, nope it was an attempted kidnapping of one of the twins of the Aburame clan. One of the more powerful clans of Konoha that specializes in bugs. It's a bug type Pokemon, Kyoko could not help it. She watched as in the memories, she was playing by herself again, she was quite a lonely child, huh? That's when she noticed someone wearing a blank mask and ANBU gear. At first she did not pay attention then she froze, ANBU always had animal masks.
She had acted on instinct, remembering what she had read about chakra in the books her parents gave. If she could control chakra, her jutsus and fights would be easier and she sprinted. She got there just as the masked man put the twins to sleep and next thing she knew she had punched him. Kyoko winced remembering the feel of the spine breaking under her hand.
Kyoko, "Ugh! Let me guess, he is dead?"
Death nodded, "Yes, and he killed the person who originally inhabited this body. So, you don't have to worry about replacing anyone."
Kyoko, "Oh, I see. Thank you."
Death rumbled, "Your survival is a miracle as far as anyone is concerned. This time try to live a long life. That is what everyone wants. You will see them again little one, I promise."
Kyoko teared up, "I.. I understand, can you tell them I miss them and I love them. Please?"
Death nodded, "Done dear child. Just make sure you don't come to me so soon again."
Kyoko laughed, "I won't, I will live, with my Dying Will as Tsu - kun says."
Kyoko woke up the next day fully aware and headache gone, "It's morning."
A nurse gasped, "You are awake. Doctor she is awake. Your mother will be here soon, dear. Water?"
Kyoko, "Thanks."
A Doctor came in, "Good morning, how do you feel?"
Kyoko, "Exhausted but okay? I think. I feel like I ran for hours without stopping."
The Doctor, Nagusi Reiyu, according to the nameplate nodded, "That is to be expected. You were running on instinct and used too much chakra. Your body was not able to handle it."
Kyoko, "Wait, what about the two kids? Are they okay?"
Nagusi smiled, "The twins are fine, they were simply knocked out. You on the other hand were stabbed on top of suffering from chakra exhaustion."
Kyoko, "Ah, so they are safe then. Good! What about that fake ANBU?"
The Doctor eyed her, "He is being investigated. Though sadly he committed suicide the moment he realized he was caught."
Kyoko, "What a coward!"
Doctor Nagusi nodded, "I suppose he is. Pity, we could have found out if there were more kidnappers."
Kyoko, "There are more?"
Nagusi waved her question off, "You are not a Shinobi so, no more questions about this from you."
Kyoko pouted but let it go and sat back as the Doctor told her to take it easy while her body returned to normal. She looked outside where the sum was shining and soon heard the door open. A very beautiful brunette woman wearing the standard Chunin uniform entered only to gasp when she saw her. Kyoko then recognized her as her mother, a Yume Naiko, the man from last night was her father, Tachiba Naiko.
Kyoko, "Mama?"
Yume, "My baby! Oh that horrible man. My little precious gem. How are you feeling? Are you hungry? Are you thirsty?"
Kyoko, "Mama, the Doctor said I could go home, as long as I have someone to keep an eye on me."
Yume, "Of course, baby. Your Papa and I have been so worried. We will be happy to have you home."
After that, the rest of the day was a flurry of activity with her new Mom signing her out. They walked through the village and Kyoko looked around the place. Her mom however had misunderstood her pacing and comforted her the horrid man was not around anymore. Kyoko simply nodded and was carried home on top of the roof tops to their house. Their home was a decent size with her and her parents room located upstairs and a kitchen and dining room downstairs. The two rooms had bathrooms attached to it and there was a nice store house in the back.
Tachiba, "Koko - chan?"
Kyoko, "Papa, I am home."
Tachiba teared up, "Welcome home."
Kyoko became flustered, "ACK! Don't cry Papa."
Tachiba hugged her, "Silly girl, do you know how much I worried about you? Don't do anything like that again."
Kyoko, "I understand, Papa."
Yume, "Now, come on, you must be hungry. I made you, all your favorites for lunch."
Kyoko's stomach grumbled, "I don't know how much I can eat but I do feel hungry."
Tachiba nodded, "Just eat as much as you can baby. No need to force yourself."
Kyoko, "Thanks papa, mama. I love you."
Kyoko meant it with all her heart, her new parents were just as amazing as her old parents. She loved them both, though she felt a little bad because she had to leave her old parents so soon and before them too. Unknown to her, she was being watched by the Leader of the Village. There was nothing odd about the behavior and Yamanaka had mind walked her to ensure nothing was amiss.
Sandaime, "Ox, keep an eye on her. She may not be an enemy but she no doubt made one after that incident."
Ox, "Understood Lord Hokage."
Ox left without saying another word to head for the Naiko household. The two Chunin were first generation Shinobi of their respective families. As expected, their only daughter showed talent in Shinobi arts too. Perhaps a little bit of precaution could be followed by her but the Sandaime was pleased by what he saw. It would be good to have another talented kunoichi in the forces.
Kyoko spent two days at home going through all her books and notes. She went through everything with a frenzy trying to collect any information she could. She had learned a few interesting things, apparently they had many equivalents of what they could do. Ninjutsu for chakra based attacks, Genjutsu for illusions, Taijutsu for hand to hand, Bukijutsu for weapon fights, Fuinjutsu for wards, Iryo - Ninjutsu for medicine, etc.
Kyoko mused, 'Verde would have loved it here.'
Kyoko heard the doorbell and her mother answering it, "A visitor? No way, Dad is back already."
Yume, "Baby girl, look who came to visit you."
Kyoko, "Who is it mama?"
Yume pointed at a familiar pair of twins, "Shino Aburame and Torune Aburame."
Shino, "We are here because we wanted to thank you for saving us."
Kyoko, "Oh, um, you are welcome. Are you both okay? They would not tell me anything."
Torune, "They did not tell us anything either. We are okay though."
Kyoko, "Want to read with me? I have many beginner books here. They were gifts from my mama and papa's friends. I scared them all apparently."
Torune, "A beginners guide to Fuinjutsu by Uzumaki Sango."
Shino, "A beginners guide to chakra control... Was it that bad?"
Kyoko shrugged, "Apparently, I could have died. So yeah, they want me to have proper knowledge to avoid doing what I did."
Yume, "You almost died and left us, baby girl. Can you blame us?"
Kyoko, "I'm not blaming anyone. I didn't even know what I was doing. I just wanted to stop a pervert."
The older Aburame who was in charge of the twins felt her lips twitch, "Your daughter has her priorities straight, Yume - chan."
Yume, "Thank you, Touka - chan. I just wish she had not been hurt in the process."
The three kids had already settled down to read together while Touka handed over the Aburame clan's sweetest honey to Yume. Yume flushed on realizing they were being given the Fire country's most luxurious honey. Yume thanked Touka profusely for the gift and Touka waved it off, saying it was a small gift when she saved the twin heirs. Kyoko enjoyed their quiet company being reminded of her time with Chrome - chan and Tsu - kun.
Shino, "I had fun today."
Torune, "Me too."
Kyoko, "I'm not allowed outside yet. But you are welcome to visit. It's nice to have friends."
Yume was smiling brightly, "You are all welcome here anytime you want."
Touka gave a smile, "Thank you. We will."
Kyoko waved them goodbye as they left, "I'm glad, they are okay."
Yume, "Of course, baby girl."
Tachiba, "I'm home."
Kyoko, "Welcome home Papa."
Yume, "Welcome back. We were visited by Touka - chan today."
Tachiba nodded, "That is to be expected. Aburame - dono had approached us yesterday for a visit."
Yume, "I told them they could visit anytime they wanted. It made Kyoko - chan happy."
Tachiba, "I see, it's good to see Koko - chan make more friends."
Yume huffed, "Don't you start getting jealous Tachi - kun. You know she needs friends."
Tachiba nodded sheepishly, "Yeah, you are right."
Kyoko snorted overhearing her parents conversation. She in a way, understood where her parents came from. Heaven knows, that she herself had been over protective and over possessive of her own children. She felt a little melancholy thinking about her kids before shaking her head getting rid of that thought and emotion. She would see them again but she promised she would live a full life.
Kyoko, "Mama, Papa, come have dinner. I made the dessert for tonight."
Tachiba, "You did? What did you make tonight? I enjoyed your cakes last night. They were fluffy, not so sweet and very delicious."
Yume perked up too, "Yes, they were right up my ally as well. Are we having it again or something else?"
Kyoko, "Tonight we are having butterscotch ice cream."
Yume eyed the cream in the tub, "Is that why you had me buy so much milk cream?"
Kyoko, "Yup."
Tachiba, "It doesn't look like much, but then again I thought the same thing about your cake. It turned out to be very delicious."
Kyoko grinned at her parents, "You won't be eating the store brought ice cream once you eat this. I can guarantee it."
Kyoko mentally thanked Chrome for introducing her to butterscotch ice cream. A very popular flavor in India after Chrome had returned with tub full of it after she had returned. They had all become instant fan of that flavor to the point Harry - nii, went on to recreate his own version. He taught the rest of them how to make it and everyone had found it hard to eat the store brought one after that.
