A chance
In a small room with a traditional slide door and tatami, one brother clung desperately to hope.
Madara remained motionless by his brother’s bedside.
He was clothed in simple white yukata and his few wounds were treated.
His brother, on other hand, remained unconscious. He was also changed into white yukata and his wounds were dressed.
His skin was pale and clammy and his breathing was shallow.
The door slide open.
A middle aged women with dark hair and eyes entered the room and closed the door behind herself.
Bowing, she quietly introduced herself. “I’m Uchiha Hana. I’m medic in charge of your recovery, may I have your names?” she took a notepad out of her pocket and flips it open.
Madara bowed back and introduced himself. “I’m Uchiha Madara, and this one is my younger brother, Uchiha Izuna.”
Her face as she writes their name down is indecipherable. “How he was injured?”
“Senju Tobirama cut him up with his sword.”
“I see.” Her face became even more closed up. “How was his eyes injured?”
Madara paused. “I’m not quite sure. It was an unknown Jutsu.”
She scribed his answer down.
“My brother, how is he?”
She stopped writing.
“His wound was quite severe, we managed to stop the bleeding and close it. His inner organs are also well on path to recovery.” She hesitated, searching for words to say.
Closing his eyes for a brief second, Madara braced himself. “No need to sugarcoat it. Say it.”
“He is nearly depleted of chakra. What little chakra he has left, is needed for his life threatening injury but his eyes are also severely injured.”
Again she paused. “His eyes are draining what little he has left to heal themselves. He won’t survive if it continues.”
“Speak plainly, woman.” Madara snapped.
“It’s his life or his eyes.”
“Can’t you preserve his eyes until he is better?”
“Without continuous immediate healing, those eyes would be as good as blind.” She gently rejected his idea.
Madara frowned, thinking. “Can they be transplanted in me? I have enough chakra to heal them up for him.”
Hana hesitated. “It is possible, but I need to check your eyes’ condition, to see if it is possible to preserve your eyes outside of your body.”
Madara scooped closer and lowered his head.
Hana’s hand glowed green. She lifted her hands and placed them on his eyes.
Madara closed his eyes and tried his best to surpass his instincts, stopping himself from attacking.
“There aren’t any ongoing healing, but your eyes are quite damaged. It is strange.” She mused.
“It’s because of Mangkyou.”
Her hand stilled.
“You have unlocked it?”
Madara nodded.
“Has your brother as well?”
Madara hesitated but answered truthfully.
“Yes.”
She took her hand away.
“There might be a third and better option. But before I check our records I need to know, is he your full-blooded brother?”
“Yes, he is.”
“Good, Good.”
Bowing, she stood up and left the room in a hurry.
Madara tiredly looked at her retreating back.
Turning around, he hold his limp hand and said. “I won’t let you lose either your life, or your vision. No matter what I have to sacrifice.”

In house of clan head
“Uchiha Madara and Uchiha Izuna?” Fugaku asked. “Are they insane? Who are they really?”
“I believe they don’t know it themselves.” Answered Uchiha Hana. “They both have Mangkyou, it is quite possible that on of them have cast a jutsu on themselves to gain power of Madara and Izuna and lost control.”
Fugaku paused. “Both of them?”
“Yes, and they are most likely brothers in real life too.” Bowing, Hana asked. “Considering the need to perform eyes transplant, I need texts on eternal Mangkyou.”
“Those texts are clan secrets for a good reason.”
“There is no other choice. It’s either switching their eyes, or younger brother will most likely lose his vision.”
“I see.” Fugaku frowned.
