Chapter 3
The weight felt dead in her hand. She didnt even bother taking the time reattaching the arm in your shop. Not like youd want her to anyhow.
Ten years..
Its been ten years since she last saw you. Ten years since she last spoke to you. Your lasts words with her were- less than pleasant. She never blamed you for them though.. The first couple years after the breakup she kept tabs on you. Back then there was much of anything to report, eventually she felt- intrusive. Why should she care what you were up to? Why should waste her time finding out about you when she didnt want to be apart of your life?
So she stopped. Stopped looking for you, stopped asking people about you. Anything that reminded her of you was thrown into a box, out of sight. She buried herself in her work instead. Following and exceeding every command silco gave her. It didnt matter what he needed or when he needed it, she was there, night and day- she was there..
Then he died..
“Boss?..” one of the goons dared to speak up from the end of the table. The rest exchanging flits of uneasy glances.
Sevika rubs her weary face, clearing her mind “What were you saying?”
“Well we have trade agreements that still need your approval-”
“And we reviewed the manifest, our dealings are up sixty-six percent!” A different goon chimes in
A third quickly adds on “A shipment of basic goods is still on track for tomorrow and they've included a weeks worth of medical supplies for customer loyalty!”
Sevika scoffs tossing down a folder onto the pile in front of her “And tomorrow im meeting with?..”
“Sidax, to discuss opening certain trade routes” The first goon confirms.
“Right.. trade routes..” She sighs. “Alright, go, i got shit to do..” she waves them off dismissively. The goons quickly pack their things and hurriedly leave the room.
Silence. Thats what she needed. What she craved..
She can only quell her thoughts for so long, only keep it together for a certain amount of time. standing up she walks over to the window overlooking zaun.
Placing a cigarette in her lips she lights it inhaling deeply. Letting the smoke cleanse her mind. She opens her eyes exhaling letting the smoke billow around her.
You looked like you were doing well.. Well without her..
She supposed she should be happy for you. You had always liked tinkering with her arm. And she always liked letting you. Shed pour herself a glass of whiskey and let you go to town on her arm. Sometimes youd yammer away about anything and everything, sometimes you were quiet- too focused on the task at hand. But her favorite moments were when youd hum along to whatever song you had put on. Your gentle muffled voice a perfect accompaniment that set her mind at ease, and when you sometimes quietly sang to yourself??
Piltover sat in the distance as a bitter reminder of everything zaun has been through. Everything you had been through..
‘Alright alright im getting up..” sevika lightly chuckled letting you pull her out of the chair. Your arms immediately wrapping around her shoulders when she stands. A satisfied smile on your face. Sevikas hands fall to a comfortable place on your hips as you two sway in time to the music. ‘youre lucky i like you..’ she jokes
‘oh im lucky?’ you raise a brow trying to keep yourself from laughing
‘mhm’ she smirks down at you, taking the lead as she gently sways you to the music. Her hand reaching up to gently cup your jaw, her thumb gently rubbing your cheek. Her brows knit slightly looking at the burn scars stretching across your skin.
‘its not like they hurt..’ you huff rolling your eyes. ‘well.. not anymore anyways’
she sighs looking at you earnestly ‘they shouldn't be there in the first place- they shouldn't have done that to a child..’
you exhale carding your hand into the back of her hair. the contact giving her a small semblance of assurance. ‘yeah well, soon you'll demolish piltover- or own it.. then i can be your.. your-’ you think for a moment ‘empress?’
She huffs a laugh at that ‘you think id be an emperor?’
‘well why not?’ you smirk ‘i could get used to all the fancy dresses’
‘if its new clothes you want, i can always just buy you some more’ She laughs shaking her head at the thought
The memory of your laugh silently echoes through the room, her face twitching in irritation.
